UPDATE: Family Confirms Bomber's Wife from North Kingstown

The wife of a man suspected in the Boston Marathon bombings issued a statement Friday afternoon.

Updated, Friday 6:24 p.m. The family of Katherine Russell, wife of one of the suspected Boston Marathon bombers, issued a statement Friday evening outside their North Kingstown home.

The statement was printed on a piece of paper and handed to a reporter outside the home on Coriander Lane.

The note reads:

Our daughter has lost her husband today, the father of her child.

We cannot begin to comprehend how this horrible tragedy occurred. In the aftermath of the Patriot's Day horror, we know that we never really knew Tamerlane Tsarnaev.

Our hearts are sickened by the knowledge of the horror he has inflicted.

Please respect our family's privacy in this difficult time.

Earlier, the North Kingstown Police Department confirmed that the Rhode Island State Police visited a home in North Kingstown in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing investigation, according to the NorthEast Independent.

Voting records indicate that Katherine Russell, of North Kingstown, is a relative of bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed in a standoff with police on Friday, April 19.

It has been reported that Russell, 24, is married to Tsarnaev and the two have a three-year-old daughter together.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev Wife's Family Releases Statement of Condolence, Confirms Baby

Posted: 04/19/2013 8:29 pm EDT | Updated: 04/20/2013 10:01 am EDT

WASHINGTON --The family of Katherine Russell, wife of one of the suspected Boston Marathon bombers, issued a short statement Friday evening to reporters outside their North Kingstown, R.I., home. Russell was married to Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed Friday morning in a shootout with police. She had a daughter with Tsarnaev a few years ago.

The family, like many who knew the terror suspects, expressed shock and horror at the events of this week. They wrote:

"Our daughter has lost her husband today, the father of her child. We cannot begin to comprehend how this horrible tragedy occurred. In the aftermath of the Patriot's Day horror, we know that we never really knew Tamerlane Tsarnaev." The FBI has given the spelling of Tsarnaev's first name as Tamerlan.

The family statement continued: "Our hearts are sickened by the knowledge of the horror he has inflicted." They asked to be left alone "in this difficult time."

The Russells ended the day with reporters knocking on their door. They began the day with police cars pulling up in front of their house.

A neighbor who lives across the street told HuffPost that she saw police cars parked in front of the Russell home early Friday morning, including a state police cruiser.

Paula Gillette, 59, said that one of the people on the scene appeared to be an FBI agent wearing a bulletproof vest. Soon after the police left, the Russell family pulled their car into their garage, Gillette said.

Another neighbor confirmed seeing law enforcement in the neighborhood. "Today there were unmarked cars over by the house and around the neighborhood," Cailyn Mather, 20, told HuffPost. "There was a police presence."

Gillette said Katherine Russell lived with her parents. She said they seemed like a close-knit family. She described them as "waspy types."

Neither of the neighbors recalled meeting Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

Bomber 'put gun in his mouth and fired as he was cornered in boat' and wounds mean he may NEVER be able to be quizzed

  • Dzhokhar Tsarnaev may have had no intention of being taken alive
  • Dzhokhar and his older brother Tamerlan may have had suicide pact to prevent them from being taken alive and put on trial, police sources tell MailOnline
  • Tsarnaev had lost large amounts of blood by the time he was captured
  • Suffered a gunshot to the throat and a wound to his leg
  • Massachusetts Governor reveals video shows Tsarnaev planting second bomb at marathon

The alleged Boston Marathon bomber may have tried to kill himself rather than surrender after he was cornered by police - but failed in his suicide attempt, it has been revealed.

A new report says Dzhokhar Tsarnaev shoved his pistol in his own mouth and pulled the trigger as SWAT officers and federal agents closed in on the boat where he was hiding in Friday night. However, instead of killing him, the bullet simply passed through his neck.

Authorities have said they cannot question him because of a throat wound. He remains in 'very serious' condition at a Boston hospital.

Boston Mayor Tom Menino revealed on Sunday that federal agents may never be able to interview Tsarnaev. Menino didn't elaborate on his comment and it is unknown whether the gunshot also caused brain damage.

Police sources told MailOnline that investigators are looking into the possibility that Tsarnaev and his older brother Tamerlan had a suicide pact so that neither of them could be taken alive and put on trial.

A suicide pact could also explain why 19-year-old Dzhokhar ran over his own brother in his stolen Mercedes SUV as he escaped from the scene, the sources added.

The new twist in the story of Tsarnaev's dramatic capture comes as the Boston police commissioner warns that he and his brother Tamerlan were plotting more bomb attacks on the city and they were caught just in time. Authorities insisted that the pair were working alone.

Caught just in time: 'Bombers were about to plant MORE devices but plot was spoiled by release of CCTV photos'

  • The Boston bombers were reportedly planning more attacks across the city
  • However, the released of the photographs of the suspects 'forced them out of their hideout'
  • Footage released on Saturday shows Dzhokhar Tsranaev laying flat under a tarp in a boat. Police used a robot to pull the tarp off the boat
  • Police tracked him with thermal imaging cameras and engaged him in a furious exchange of gun-fire that began shortly after 7pm
  • Stand-off continued until 8:45pm when Tsarnaev surrendered
  • Dzhokhar has been hospitalized at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He is 'intubated and sedated' and cannot yet speak
  • Tamerlan Tsarnaev had injuries from head to toe and all limbs intact when he arrived at the hospital. He died early on Friday

The Boston bombers were planning more attacks across the city and were already building the bombs to do this says the city's police commissioner Ed Davis.

Davis says it's his belief that 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his 26-year-old brother Tamerlan 'were going to attack other individuals' — and Davis says that's based on the evidence at the scene and the cache of weapons the brothers had at their disposal.

However, Davis claims releasing photos of the two Boston Marathon bombing suspects 'forced them out of their hideout' and spurred them into Thursday and Friday's deadly night time car chaos and gun battle with law enforcement.

'It forced them out of their hideout and they decided to commit further violent acts. But it’s my belief that they were already manufacturing explosive devices. Further violent acts were inevitable,' Davis told The Boston Globe.

The suspects 'were not making those explosives for nothing,' Davis told The Globe. 'There was a plan there, and I believe that tragically Sean Collier lost his life, but he was truly protecting the citizens of the city'

Handguns, a rifle and at least six bombs, three of which detonated were found at the scene on Friday after officers had their first showdown with the Boston bombing brothers in Watertown, Massachusetts.

And it is believed that federal prosecutors are putting the final touches together on charges against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, despite his throat wound leaving him unable to speak.

The most serious charge available to federal prosecutors would be the use of a weapon of mass destruction to kill people, which carries a possible death sentence. Massachusetts does not have the death penalty.

CBS News' John Miller has claimed investigators believe the wound to the back of his neck is evidence that Dzhokhar attempted to end his own life at the culmination of Friday's dramatic standoff.

'They say it appears from the wound that he might have stuck a gun in his mouth, and fired and actually just went out the back of his neck without killing him.'

Did Boston bomber meet with known jihadist terrorist? Speculation grows as it emerges Russia asked FBI to investigate Boston bomber just SIX MONTHS ago after his trip to Dagestan

  • Russian authorities contacted FBI in November with questions about Tamerlan Tsarnaev, police source said
  • It came after he was seen meeting with a person involved in militant Islamic underground movement in Dagestan
  • FBI never responded to the concerns, the source claimed
  • Tsarnaev's mother said the FBI had trailed him for five years amid fears he was inspired by Russia's Bin Laden

Two grabs of videos believed to have been deleted from Tamerlan Tsarnaev's YouTube account that are reportedly of Gadzhimurad Dolgatov - a Dagestani jihadist who died in 2012 after a vicious stand-off with Russian security services

Speculation is growing that one of the Boston bombers met a known Jihadist terrorist in 2011 - as it emerged the FBI failed to follow up on a Russian tip that he was seen with an Islamic militant six times.

On a YouTube account widely believed to belong to Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, there are two videos on a playlist called 'terrorists' created five months ago that since have been deleted.

Both videos appear under the name, 'Amir Abu Dujana rabbanikaly' which is also the name used by Gadzhimurad Dolgatov, a notorious Dagestani terrorist.

Investigators are pouring over the YouTube account to see if they can confirm whether Tsarnaev had any links with Dolgatov, who was killed by Russian security forces in Makhachkala in December 2012, after a fierce gun battle.

These latest revelations question the adequacy of the U.S intelligence community, who failed to spot the national security threat posed by suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his younger brother Dzhokhar, despite the repeated warnings.

On Sunday, a Dagistani police official source revealed to NBC News that the Russian internal security service contacted the FBI in November with some questions about Tamerlan and handed over a copy of a case file on him.

The 26-year-old Chechen, who was living in the U.S. after being granted refugee status in 2002, first caught the eye of authorities after he was spotted meeting with a person involved in the militant Islamic underground movement in Dagestan. They met at a mosque on six occasions, the source said.

The source told NBC the militant and Tsarnaev disappeared before authorities could speak with them; they added that the FBI never responded. A senior law enforcement official said that the FBI's earlier investigation did not turn up anything and they did not have the legal authority to keep tabs on him.

The question law enforcement officials will be asking themselves is, did Tamerlan meet Dolgatov when he visited Makhachkala in 2011?

However, Christopher Swift, professor of national security studies at Georgetown University told CNN that these videos and the fact they were deleted reveal nothing concrete - just yet.

'There is no evidence that these young men were seeking to make a point about Chechnya per se.'

He said he believes it is more likely that they were trying to make a point about themselves, as if to say: 'We are warriors. we have been wronged, people do not understand us and we must be heard.'

Tsarnaev was killed by police in Watertown, Massachusetts on Friday following a gun battle with authorities. Pictures of him and his brother allegedly attending the Boston marathon and planting packages had been released by the FBI on Thursday. His brother was injured and remains in hospital.

'That's your problem': Chilling response of Boston bomber after 'FBI called him to accuse him of deadly attack'

Family: Anzor and Zubeidat Tsarnaev said their son claimed the FBI called him to accuse him of the bombings

The parents of the suspected Boston bombers have claimed that their oldest son received a call from the FBI accusing him of the attack, to which he responded: 'That's your problem.'

Tamerlan Tsarnaeva, who was killed following a shoot out with the police on Friday, called his mother two or three days after the marathon bombings to tell her about the call from the FBI, his father said.

The claims, reported by Channel 4 News, reveal how Tsarnaeva, 26, believed that the FBI was watching him. His mother previously said he had been followed by the FBI for five years.

Channel 4 News suggested that, while it was unlikely the FBI had called the suspect to accuse him of the heinous crime, it was perhaps his way of preparing his parents for the news of his involvement.

While it seems unlikely, if the claim is true, it raises questions over how the FBI handled the case.

Eldest Boston bomber was thrown out of his mosque for 'raged filled rant' against Martin Luther King three months ago - as FBI hunts mysterious religious leader who 'brainwashed' him

  • Tamerlan Tsarnaev was ejected from his Cambridge, Massachusetts mosque three months ago
  • Became enraged after the imam held up Martin Luther King Jr. as an example of a man to emulate
  • It has been claimed that Tamerlan was radicalized inside the U.S. by an unidentified mysterious religious leader

The bombing suspects reportedly prayer and visited the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center infrequently

mosque in Cambridge. A mosque official confirmed that suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings,
worshipped there

Boston marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev was thrown out of his local mosque for 'crazy' behavior after getting involved a 'shouting match' with his imam according to one member of the congregation.

Described as being full of rage by a worshiper who would give his name only as Muhammad, Tamerlan was ejected from the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center three months ago for claiming that Martin Luther King Jr. was not a man Muslims should look to emulate.

This revelation comes as Ruslan Tsarni, an uncle of Tamerlan, claimed that his nephew had fallen under the spell of a mysterious religious leader in Cambridge, Massachusetts, who radicalized him and his brother Dzhokhar into committing Monday's terror outrage.

The dramatic confrontation between Tamerlan and his imam began when the 26-year-old interrupted a solemn Friday prayer service three months ago.

The imam had just offered up assassinated civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. as a fine example of a man to emulate - but this reportedly enraged Tamerlan.

'You cannot mention this guy because he’s not a Muslim!' Muhammad recalled Tamerlan shouting, shocking others in attendance according to the LA Times.

Kicked out of the mosque for his outrageous behavior, Tamerlan did return to the prayer service after his outburst according to Muhammad.

'He’s crazy to me,' said Muhammad. 'He had an anger inside.… I can’t explain what was in his mind.'

Anwar Kazmi, a member of the mosque's board of trustees, told a USA Today reporter that 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who died early Friday morning after a shootout with police, was an infrequent attendee for about a year-and-a-half, while 19-year-old Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, who was captured hiding in a boat in Watertown on Friday night, attended only once.

Responding to the revelation that both brothers had attended their mosque, the Islamic Society issued a statement to say that while the suspects were known to other worshipers, they could not have predicted their horrific bombing of the Boston marathon which claimed three lives and injured over 180 people.

Imam Suhaib Webb, of the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, the city's largest mosque, said in an interview that he had recently heard of the incident. 'That's a sign right there that his views aren't mainstream,' Webb said.

They pledged to aid federal and city law enforcement to leave 'no stone uncovered in finding any suspects connected to the bombs.'

'My boys have been smeared by cheap lies': Aunt of 'bombers' protests their innocence and claims THEY are the victims

  • Maret Tsarnaeva vows to head to her surviving nephew's bedside
  • Says the Tsarnaev brothers are 'good boys' who have been framed

The distraught aunt of Boston bomb suspects Dzhokhar and Tamerlin Tsarnaev believes the men have been framed - so is flying to Massachusetts to protest their innocence.

Sobbing uncontrollably, trainee lawyer Maret Tsarnaeva, who lives in Toronto, told MailOnline that she feared for 19-year-old Dzhokhar's safety.

The younger Tsarnaev is in hospital recovering from wounds sustained in a gun battle with authorities on Friday, while his brother was killed.

'One has been killed and it would be convenient if the other was not able to speak out to declare his innocence,' she said. 'I have to go to Dzhokhar. To be with him at his bedside – to protect him – if they will let me.'

Maret, a single mother with a four-year-old son, believes her nephews have been 'conveniently framed' for the marathon attacks.

'I feel I have to be there in Boston for Dzhokhar – otherwise people will think the family do not care.

'I spoke to my brother Anzor – the boys' father – and I promised him I would be there for Dzhokhar until the end of this ugly journey.

'The phone call tore me up. Anzor was distraught and today so am I. When the manhunt was on I was strong. But now I am so lost.

'I feel so helpless because I don’t know who to call for help. No one wants to know, everyone is saying they are guilty.

'As soon as their names came out I called the FBI. I told the woman on the tip line that they had never been in trouble, that they could not have done this.

'Chilling' unreleased video clearly shows youngest Boston bomber placing backpack on floor and then calmly moving to a safe distance before it blows up

By James Nye
PUBLISHED: 17:18 GMT, 21 April 2013 | UPDATED: 17:23 GMT, 21 April 2013

Surveillance video from the Boston Marathon attack shows one suspect dropping his backpack and calmly walking away from it before the bomb inside it exploded, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick said Sunday.

The video clearly puts 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev at the scene of the attack, Patrick said on NBC.

'It does seem to be pretty clear that this suspect took the backpack off, put it down, did not react when the first explosion went off and then moved away from the backpack in time for the second explosion," Patrick said.

'It's pretty clear about his involvement and pretty chilling, frankly.'

He added, however, that he hasn't viewed all the tapes but had been briefed by law enforcement about them.

Investigators have determined the bombs were fashioned from pressure cookers packed with explosives, nails and ball bearings and hidden in black backpacks.

Three people were killed and more than 180 injured when the two bombs exploded Monday about four hours into the race.

Isn't it interesting that the more relevant, breaking news, is coming from the English newspapers? Perhaps they still have a free press there,

Quite right Mike.

I was naturally following the news as it broke.. on FOX mainly. They had live reports/reporters at key locations etc.... but I soon found that to get details I had to look elsewhere... the Daily Mail being by far the best source.

EXCLUSIVE - How doctor's daughter became the Muslim convert widow of Boston bomber: Terrorist husband 'brainwashed' her and she gave up her dreams of college to have his baby at 21

  • Schoolfriend tells MailOnline how Katherine Russell had dreams of joining the Peace Corps - but was 'totally transformed' by Tamerlan Tsarnaev
  • Yearbook photos reveal her transformation from all-American girl

By Laura Collins In North Kingstown, Rhode Island

Katherine Russell, the widow of Boston bomb suspect, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was 'an all-American girl who was brainwashed' by her extremist husband according to one schoolfriend.

Today MailOnline has gained the first glimpse and pictures of the early life of the woman who, according to those who knew her best, was 'totally transformed' by Tsarnaev.

At high school her personal motto was 'Do something about it or stop complaining'. She dreamed of going to college and joining the Peace Corps.

She urged her friends to 'lighten up and enjoy the small things,' in life.

Instead she met Tsarneav, 26, a disenfranchised man who came to America from his troubled homeland of Chechnya who rapidly had her in his thrall.

By the time she was 21 she had married him and borne his child, Zahara, now three. She had converted to Islam, hidden her tumble of chestnut hair beneath the hijab and undergone a change so profound that today few friends profess to truly understand it.

Yesterday Katherine, who has been staying at her parents’ home in Rhode Island, returned to the Cambridge, Massachusetts home which she shared with her late husband.

Dressed in a leopard print hijab she darted into the white shingle house to collect some belongings and her pet cat while her daughter waited in the car.

Today she was back home, accompanied by armed federal agents who first interviewed Katherine and her family on Friday.

Shortly before 6pm on Sunday three law enforcement agents – two men, one woman - all wearing dark sunglasses delivered a package to the Russell's family home.

Katherine's mother Judith was initially reluctant to answer the front door, opening it fully only after requesting that the officers, thought to be Federal Agents, showed their credentials.

Their presence raises the question how much did Katherine know about her late husband's activities and links?

Katherine's awareness of her then husband's movements, thoughts and plans is under intense scrutiny as her relation to Tsaraev and her proximity to both brothers makes her a key witness - witting or otherwise.

After all she was living with Tsarnaev when he travelled to Makhachkala in 2011 – a trip now attracting the interest of investigators trying to establish whether he met with Gaczhimurad Dolgatov at that time. Dolgatov was a Dagestani jihadist who died in 2012 after a vicious stand-off with Russian security services.

As it has already been revealed, Tsarnaev was on the FBI's radar during that time as they were asked to look into his potential links to extremist groups.

None who knew her as a child could have dreamed that this would be the face she would one day present to the world, nor that her life and those of so many Bostonians would be so violently caught up with two brothers from Chechnya and a cause as unclear as it was brutal.

As a girl growing up in Rhode Island Katherine was known to her friends as Katie. One school friend who asked not to be named recalled: ‘I saw her like a few months ago and she was just totally transformed. She was not the same person at all.’

Another agreed: ‘She was just this All-American girl who was brainwashed by her super-religious husband. Nobody understands what happened to her.

‘None of us would have dreamed that she would marry so young or drop out of college and have a baby or convert or be part of any of what’s happened.’

The alleged Boston Marathon bomber is awake and responding to questions in his hospital bed.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is responding sporadically in writing to questions from investigators regarding other cell members and other unexploded bombs, law enforcement sources told ABC News.

The 19-year-old shoved his pistol in his own mouth and pulled the trigger as SWAT officers and federal agents closed in on the boat where he was hiding on Friday night. However, instead of killing him, the bullet simply tore through his neck.

Authorities initially said they couldn't question him because of the throat wound. CNN reports earlier today that Tsarnaev was 'intubated and sedated' at a Boston hospital.

The Boston police commissioner said Tsarnaev is in 'critical but stable' condition on Sunday - which appears to be a downgrade from reports earlier this weekend that his condition was only 'serious.'

Boston Mayor Tom Menino revealed that federal agents may never be able to interview Tsarnaev.

Authorities believe Dzhokhar likely killed him brother, who was handcuffed, when he ran over him.

A suicide pact could also explain why 19-year-old Dzhokhar ran over his own brother in his stolen Mercedes SUV as he escaped from the scene, the sources added.

Tamerlan was killed early Friday after a running gun battle with police. Doctors say he appeared to have multiple gunshot wounds, blast injuries and major trauma from being hit and dragged by his brother's car.

The new twist in the story of Tsarnaev's dramatic capture comes as the Boston police commissioner warns that he and Tamerlan were plotting more bomb attacks on the city and they were caught just in time. Authorities insisted that the pair were working alone.

Ed Davis said the bombers were flushed out of hiding when the FBI released close-up surveillance video of their faces and asked for the public's help in tracking them down.

It is believed that federal prosecutors are putting the final touches together on charges against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and could filed them today.

The most serious charge available to federal prosecutors would be the use of a weapon of mass destruction to kill people, which carries a possible death sentence. Massachusetts does not have the death penalty.

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick revealed on Sunday that surveillance video from the Boston Marathon attack shows one suspect dropping his backpack and calmly walking away from it before the bomb inside it exploded.

Younger bomb suspect DID kill his own brother by running him over, says Boston police chief

  • Watertown Police Chief Deveau said Tamerlan Tsranaev, 26, marched towards police officers while shooting at them
  • 'He all of a sudden comes out from under cover and just starts walking down the street, shooting at our police officers, trying to get closer,' Deveau said
  • Suspect eventually ran out of ammunition and was tackled to the ground
  • His brother jumped behind the wheel of carjacked SUV and ran Tamerlan over, dragging his body a short distance
  • Over 200 rounds were fired in the span of 5-10 minutes
  • Police say suspects lobbed five crude bombs at them, at least one of them a pressure cooker explosive

The Boston police commissioner has confirmed that the younger bombing suspect killed his own brother by running him over with an SUV while officers were trying to arrest him.

Ed Davis told CNN is he believes Tamerlan Tsarnaev died from being hit and dragged 40 feet by his own brother Dzhokhar.

Doctors revealed the Tamerlan had been shot and appeared to have suffered a bomb blast, however his wounds from the tires of his stolen SUV appeared the most severe.

A medical examiner must still confirm the cause of death.

Law enforcement sources told MailOnline Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were determined not to be taken alive.

Authorities are reportedly investigating whether Dzhokar, 19, ran over his brother as part of a suicide pact so that neither of them could be put on trial.

Later, as police closed in Dzhokar reportedly put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger.

'These guys did not have an exit plan after the bombing, and from they way they have both ended up it looks like they planned on never being taken alive,' said a law enforcement source.

'Why else would this kid drive over his brother? It does not make any sense until you realise he also tried to take his own life. They had some sort of suivide pact worked out so they would not be taken alive.'

Offering the first detailed account of the firefight, Police Chief Edward Deveau, of Watertown, Massachusetts, where the drama had unfolded early Friday morning, has revealed that 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev walked towards officers firing a gun before he ran out of ammunition and was tackled to the ground.

'He all of a sudden comes out from under cover and just starts walking down the street, shooting at our police officers, trying to get closer,' Deveau said.

'Now, my closest officer is five to 10 feet away, and they're exchanging gunfire between them. And he runs out of ammunition -- the bad guy -- and so one of my police officers comes off the side and tackles him in the street.'

He was in the process of being handcuffed by two or three officers when his younger brother, 19-year-old Dzhokhar, jumped behind the wheel of a black SUV the two hand allegedly carjacked earlier and barreled toward the group.

Officers who were restraining Tamerlan Tsarnaev got out of the way of the speeding vehicle, which ended up driving over the wounded suspect, the police chief told CNN.

According to Deveau, the 19-year-old suspect dragged his sibling’s body a short distance down the street and drove off. He later ditched the SUV and escaped on foot.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later.

An alleged autopsy photograph of Tamerlan that was leaked Friday shows multiple gunshot wounds and a massive open gash that spans from the center of his chest to his back.

Another smaller gash is located right below the larger wound. His right shoulder and his face show signs of hemorrhaging.

Some of the injuries could have been sustained during doctors' attempts to revive him. MailOnline is not publishing the photo due to its graphic nature.

The results of the autopsy have not been released yet, but the preliminary description of the injuries suggests that some of the wounds may have been caused by the vehicle operated by the suspect's brother.

'The police, they have started shooting at us': How dead bomber phoned his mother in final shoot out with police

  • Tamerlan Tsarnaeva's final words to his mother were 'Mama, I love you'
  • Days earlier, when Zubeidat Tsarnaev called to check on her son after the Marathon bombings, he'd merely laughed off her concerns, asking, 'Why are you worrying?'

Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev took time during his final moments to phone his mother as he engaged in a furious gun battle with police early on Friday morning, it has emerged.

'The police, they have started shooting at us, they are chasing us,' Tsarnaev told his mother Zubeidat Tsarnaeva.

At the time he was hurling pressure cooker bombs at officers in the suburb of Watertown as he and his brothers fired more than 200 rounds.

Then, finally, before hanging up Tsarnaev said: 'Mama, I love you.'

When he ran out of bullet, police say he charged at police, before officers tackeld him and he was finally run over by his brother Dzhokar.

Days earlier, reports The Wall Street Journal, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva had called her son after the bombings, concerned about his safety.

Shockingly, he'd merely shrugged off her concern.

'Mama,' laughed Tsarnaeva, 'why are you worrying?'

Wiretaps and surveillance in place, so they attempt to generate incriminating chatter and/or travel arrangements.

Yes.

All bets are off. Interrogators don't have to tell suspect or LSM the truth at this stage.

I would have announced he was "singing like a bird" at this stage too :)
