Michael Avenatti Arrested for Felony Domestic Violence

Image

Our law enforcement sources say Avenatti was arrested Wednesday after his estranged wife filed a felony DV report. We're told her face was "swollen and bruised."

Our sources say the alleged incident occurred Tuesday, but there was a confrontation Wednesday between the two at an exclusive apartment building in the Century City area of L.A.

We're told during Wednesday's confrontation the woman ran out of the apartment building and was on the sidewalk on her cellphone with sunglasses covering her eyes, screaming on the phone, "I can't believe you did this to me."

We're told security brought her inside the building and Michael showed up 5 minutes later, ran into the building, chasing after her. He screamed repeatedly, "She hit me first." We're told he angrily added, "This is bulls***, this is f***ing bulls***."
[.......]
We're told Avenatti is currently in custody.

November 19, 2018 at 5:17 pm PST

Michael Avenatti and actress/accuser Mareli Miniutti

UPDATE 6:04 PM PT: Michael Avenatti just responded to The Blast’s story, tweeting, “I look forward to a full clearing of my name and disclosure of all of the facts. I have NEVER abused a woman or committed domestic violence against anyone. Any claim to the contrary is completely bogus and fabricated. I am a target. And I will be exonerated.”

The woman who accused Michael Avenatti of domestic violence has now filed for a restraining order against the attorney.

According to court records obtained by The Blast, actress Mareli Miniutti filed for a domestic violence restraining order against Avenatti Monday in Los Angeles.

Miniutti is an actress in her 20s, originally from Estonia, and most recently scored a cameo in “Ocean’s Eight.”

As we reported, Avenatti was arrested last week after a woman called police. He was arrested at his apartment in L.A. but the circumstances behind the allegations were unclear.

Actress Claims Michael Avenatti Dragged Her Across Apartment, Called Her An ‘Ungrateful B*tch’
November 20, 2018 at 9:20 am PST
By Gary Trock

Michael Avenatti is accused of attacking his girlfriend and dragging her around the apartment floor while calling her an “Ungrateful f*cking bitch,” this according to the declaration submitted by Mareli Miniutti.

Miniutti claims she had been living with Stormy Daniels’ attorney since January, and on November 13, they got into an argument over money. She claims Avenatti called her an “Ungrateful f*cking bitch” and began forcefully hitting her in the face with pillows from the bed.

She says Avenatti exclaimed, “Do not disrespect me,” and then told her she could not sleep in his house that night. She says he grabbed the “wrist of my right arm,” and “attempted to pull me out of bed.”

Miniutti claims she tried texting a friend for help, but claims Avenatti grabbed the cell phone. The actress says he remained very close to her and she was afraid for her safety.

Court date set for Michael Avenatti’s Stormy Daniels trial
By Gabrielle Fonrouge
February 12, 2020

As Manhattan jurors deliberate over Michael Avenatti and allegations he tried to extort Nike out of millions of dollars, a trial date was set for him in another pending criminal matter Wednesday on charges alleging he stole from porn star Stormy Daniels.

The California attorney — who could soon be walking free if jurors find him not guilty of two counts of attempted extortion and one count of honest services fraud in the Nike case — will face a new trial April 21 on allegations he stole $300,000 from his former client and forged her signature.

The trial date was scheduled at the same time Judge Paul Gardephe was prepping jurors to deliberate on the extortion case.

Disgraced lawyer Michael Avenatti found guilty in Nike extortion trial
Published Fri, Feb 14 20202:14 PM

Disgraced lawyer Michael Avenatti was convicted of all three charges related to his efforts to extort up to $25 million from athletic apparel giant Nike.
The verdict in Manhattan federal court came two years after Avenatti gained widespread notoriety for his representation of porn star Stormy Daniels in her legal disputes with President Donald Trump.
Trump’s then-lawyer Michael Cohen paid Daniels hush money to keep her quiet about claims of an affair with the president on the eve of the 2016 election.

The bombastic attorney, who was ordered jailed last month for alleged violations of his release bond, faces upcoming trials this spring in two other federal criminal cases.

One of those cases, in New York, is for charges that he swindled Daniels out of $300,000 in proceeds for a book she wrote.

The other pending case, in California, is on charges accusing Avenatti of defrauding other clients out of millions of dollars, tax crimes and perjury.

The jury found Avenatti guilty on all three counts: extortion, wire fraud, and transmission of interstate communications with intent to extort. He faces more than 42 years in prison when he’s sentenced

Michael Avenatti moved to different jail after hitting ‘breaking point’
By Michael Kaplan
February 22, 2020

On Feb. 14, disgraced lawyer Michael Avenatti was found guilty on all charges of trying to bilk $23.5 million from Nike, and now faces up to 42 years in prison. But there’s one thing for him to be happy about: He’s finally been moved out of the downtown Manhattan jail cell he despises.

The attorney, who represented porn star Stormy Daniels in a failed 2018 suit against Donald Trump, was arrested last March and charged with attempting to extort the shoe brand over illegally funneled payments to college basketball players.

In January, ahead of his trial, he was transferred from a California facility to the notorious 10 South — a jail deep inside the Metropolitan Correctional Center in TriBeCa that Avenatti’s Miami-based attorney Scott Srebnick described to The Post as “sheer dehumanization.”

In a January letter of protest, Srebnick complained that the temperature of the 8’-x-10’ cell was in the mid 40s and that his client was “forced to sleep with three blankets … [and] not permitted to shave.” In the summer the temperature reportedly becomes debilitatingly hot.

Avenatti was transferred to 5 South, a general population facility, on Thursday, after one of his defense attorneys, Danya Perry, wrote an appeal to MCC — saying Avenatti had reached a “breaking point.”

“[Avenatti] was in a cell where everything he does is watched. He showered in view of cameras. He couldn’t control the lights [which reportedly never turn off],” Srebnick added of his client’s old 10 South cell. “There was no privacy.”
