Can't answer that but California is so notorius for taking years to execute. Since I believe the media totally convicted Scott Peterson and crooked people didn't follow up on some reliable tips and evidence it's possible he may win his appeal.

The brief is here and pretty easy to read if anyone is interested. http://www.scottpetersonappeal.org/uplo ... sbrief.pdf

Pro-police bikers drown out Texas cop killer's final words with revved engines during execution

By Meg Wagner | NEW YORK DAILY NEWS | August 13, 2015, 12:12 PM

Texas bikers standing in solidarity with a slain police officer muffled the final words of his killer by loudly revving their engines outside of the prison during the Wednesday night execution.

Daniel Lee Lopez — who wrote multiple letters to a judge pleading for an earlier execution date — was executed by lethal injection Wednesday.

The 27-year-old was convicted of striking and killing a Corpus Christi officer during a 2009 police chase.

A group of bikers supporting police gathered outside of the Huntsville prison before the execution. As Lopez gave his final words, the racers revved their engines in unison — a roar so loud it could be heard inside the execution chamber.
[...]
Lopez is the 10th inmate put to death this year in Texas, which carries out capital punishment more than any other state. Nationally, he was the 19th prisoner to be executed.

The U.S. has six executions scheduled over the next nine days

Washington Post
By Mark Berman | September 29, 2015, 9:00AM

During his visit to the United States last week, Pope Francis used an address before Congress — one of the most high-profile platforms from which the pope could speak to this country and its leaders — to call for an end to the death penalty. In the two weeks following the pope’s remarks, five states plan to execute six death-row inmates, a burst of lethal activity the country has not seen in more than two years.

The executions scheduled over the next nine days seem to offer a microcosm of the death penalty as it currently exists in the United States. These cases touch on a wide range of the issues that surround capital punishment, including lethal injection drugs, mental health and possible racial biases. They are also a reminder that while executions are occurring less frequently than they have in two decades and do not take place in much of the country, a handful of states remain bastions of the death penalty.

One execution was delayed due to concerns about the lethal-injection drugs, questions raised amid an ongoing shortage of execution drugs. Two others were delayed so that the U.S. Supreme Court could debate lethal-injection drugs and the death penalty itself. One state intends to execute a female inmate, a rare occurrence in this country. In another state, activists and lawmakers are questioning whether racial bias played a role in a death sentence. Three of the people are on death row not for personally killing someone, but for having someone else carry out that crime.

Parole board green-lights execution of Kelly Gissendaner despite Pope's plea

By NBC News | Sept 29, 2015 8:06PM CDT

Image

The only woman on Georgia's death row was set to be executed Tuesday night after the state parole board declined to stop the lethal injection -- despite a plea from Pope Francis.

Gissendaner, a mother of three who was sentenced to death for the 1997 murder of her husband at the hands of her lover, had been set to die at 7 p.m. ET, but it was delayed for last-minute appeals.

The Supreme Court denied one stay of execution at 8:30 p.m. but still had another request to consider.

This is one evil human being. In the video, it shows an old, short clip of him throwing a pitcher of water at the jury after he was convicted. :eek

Man who killed Dallas officer to be executed

FOX4News.com | By: Michael Graczyk, AP | October 14, 2015, 9:32AM

No late appeals were in the courts for a Texas death row inmate who is facing execution for killing a Dallas police officer.

Licho Escamilla, 33, is scheduled for lethal injection Wednesday evening for the November 2001 death of Christopher Kevin James outside a Dallas club. James was among four uniformed officers working off-duty security when a brawl involving Escamilla broke out.

Escamilla, who was already wanted in Dallas for the fatal shooting of a neighbor weeks earlier, pulled out a gun and opened fire on police as they tried to end the fight.

The bullets from Escamilla's 9 mm semi-automatic handgun twice struck James, knocking him to the ground. Escamilla then calmly walked up to the officer and fired three more shots into the back of his head before running and exchanging shots with other officers, witnesses said. A second officer wounded in the gunfire survived.
[...]
Escamilla is slated to become the 24th convicted killer put to death this year in the United States -- with Texas accounting for half of the executions.

Ohio delays executions until 2017
By Dana Ford | CNN | October 19, 2015, 7:12PM

(CNN)Ohio delayed the scheduled executions of a dozen inmates on Monday, citing difficulties getting the necessary drugs.

The next execution in Ohio is now set for January 2017, according to a release from the state's Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC).

"DRC continues to seek all legal means to obtain the drugs necessary to carry out court ordered executions, but over the past few years it has become exceedingly difficult to secure those drugs because of severe supply and distribution restrictions," the release read. "The new dates are designed to provide DRC additional time necessary to secure the required execution drugs."

Death row inmate eats last meal, talks with spiritual advisor before execution
By David Harris | Orlando Sentinel | October 29, 2015, 4:26PM

RAIFORD – Jerry Correll's day has been full of lasts.

He woke up for the last time at 6 a.m.
He ate his last meal at 10 a.m. – a cheeseburger, French fries and a Coke.
He spoke with his spiritual advisor one last time for nearly two hours.
And he talked on the phone with his daughter one last time.

Correll, 59, is scheduled to be executed tonight at 6 p.m. by lethal-injection at Florida State Prison in Raiford.

The Orlando man stabbed to death his ex-wife, Susan, their 5-year-old daughter Tuesday, and Susan's mother and sister in 1985.
[...]
Susan Correll, 25, suffered stab wounds throughout her body, including some that weren't fatal, indicating Correll may have tortured her before killing her, and then had sex with her body.

Her mother, 48-year-old Mary Lou Hines, had defensive wounds, apparently from protecting Tuesday, before both were killed. Tuesday was wearing her pajamas and clutching a doll.

Susan's sister Marybeth Jones was out on a date during the initial killings. She entered through a side door and didn't see the carnage on the other side of the house. She was getting a glass of water in the kitchen when Correll attacked, dragging her to her bedroom where he stabbed her to death.

Their bodies were found on July 1, 1985, by a neighbor and Susan's co-worker.

Texas to execute man convicted of killing three children in house fire
By Jon Herskovitz, Reuters | Yahoo News | November 18, 2015

AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) - Texas plans on Wednesday to execute Raphael Holiday, 36, who was convicted of killing his daughter and two stepdaughters in a mobile home blaze in 2000.

Holiday is set to be put to death by lethal injection at 6 p.m. local time at the state's death chamber in Huntsville. If the execution goes ahead, Holiday would be the 531st inmate executed by Texas since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976, the most of any state.
[...]
Holiday was convicted of killing Tierra Lynch, 7, Jasmine DuPaul, 5, and Justice Holiday, 1, in 2000 in a rural community about 100 miles northwest of Houston.

He was living with a woman named Tami Wilkerson, his common law wife at the time who secured a restraining order against him for sexually assaulting Tierra, according to the Texas Attorney General's office.

About six months after that, Holiday, who had attempted to reconcile with Wilkerson, returned to the house and forced the girls' grandmother at gunpoint to douse the home with gasoline, which soon ignited, it said.

After watching the house burn, he fled the scene in a vehicle and was caught after a high-speed chase with police. The bodies of the three girls were later found huddled together in the charred remains of the home, the office said.

Georgia executes inmate convicted in 1994 murder
FOX News/AP | November 20, 2015

ATLANTA – A man convicted of killing a woman he met at a Georgia nightclub was executed Thursday after losing a last-minute round of appeals.

Marcus Ray Johnson, 50, was put to death at 10:11 p.m. at the state prison in Jackson. Johnson was convicted in the March 1994 rape and murder of Angela Sizemore in Albany.
[...]
Sizemore and Johnson met at an Albany nightclub the night of March 23, 1994, and witnesses saw them kissing and drinking heavily. They were seen leaving the bar together early the next morning.

A man walking his dog later that morning found Sizemore's body inside her SUV behind an apartment complex. She had been stabbed 41 times with a small, dull knife and sexually assaulted her with a pecan branch, prosecutors said.

HUNTSVILLE, TX -- A Texas man put to death Wednesday for a killing 15 years ago became the busy death penalty state's first prisoner executed in 2016.

Richard Masterson, 43, was pronounced dead at 6:53 p.m., 25 minutes after the lethal injection began.

"I'm all right with this," he said. "Sometimes you have to live and die by the choices you make. I made mine and I'm paying for it."

He said he was being sent "to a better place."

At least eight other Texas death row inmates have executions scheduled for the coming months, including one set for next week.

Texas is the nation's busiest death penalty state, having carried out 13 lethal injections in 2015, which accounted for nearly half of the 28 executions nationwide.

Ronald Phillips execution: Ohio plans January death using 3-drug combo after 3-year pause
By | CBS News | October 3, 2016

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio plans to resume executions in January with a new three-drug combination after an unofficial three-year moratorium blamed on shortages of lethal drugs, an attorney representing the state told a federal judge Monday.
[...]
Attorneys representing death row inmates say they’ll file a new challenge almost immediately.

The development opens the way for the execution of the Ronald Phillips for the rape and murder of his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter in Akron in 1993.

I am posting this for my reference through the year. I'm probably the only one who keeps tabs. ;)

The VA execution was heavily publicized for taking 30 min for the inmate to expire. I see where they used 3 drugs, well duh. Texas will have another one on Thursday. Texas Appeals Court refused to stop it today.

Timothy McVeigh was the first execution I waited for and watched (TV coverage). He was given the death penalty in June 1997 and was executed in June 2001. I thought it took forever but looking back that was fast. McVeigh was the first federal prisoner to be executed by the US federal government since 1963. It was televised and only three news reporters were allowed to watch. FOXNews was one of them and Shepard Smith was the observer and reporter. It was the first time I saw him on TV. :)

Ohio needs to get its hands on this drug and try to catch-up. Oh wait, Gov. Kasich is busy today legalizing the exhumation of confederate graves across the state. :roll

By Jason Dearen | Associated Press | August 24, 2017, 7:55PM ET

STARKE, Fla. (AP) — Florida on Thursday put a man to death with an anesthetic never used before in a U.S. lethal injection, carrying out its first execution in more than 18 months on an inmate convicted of two racially motivated murders.

Asay was the 24th inmate executed since Gov. Rick Scott has taken office, the most under any governor in Florida history.

VICTIM - Beverly Guenther
Image

It seems many news outlets are confused. Beverly Guenther was stalked, raped & brutally murdered by Scott McLaughlin when she broke up with him. She was terrified of McLaughlin. Beverly reported to police & got a restraining order. McLaughlin was a registered sex offender who Sexually assaulted a 14 year old girl in 1992. God only knows how many girls & women have been abused & terrorized by McLaughlin. McLaughlin was put to death having been convicted of first degree murder & rape of Beverly.
