Is Nigel Farage Actually Getting A Knighthood?

Talk is that people could soon be calling the Brexit Party leader 'Sir Nigel'

BY Emma Rowley | Posted on 13 hours ago

Nigel Farage, leader of the Brexit Party, could soon be Sir Nigel Farage, according to rumours – and not everyone is happy about it. Speculation is rife that the politician will be knighted in the New Year Honours list, after Conservative MP Andrew Bridgen told Good Morning Britain that he had written to PM Boris Johnson to recommend that Nigel Farage receive a knighthood. He argued: ‘Nigel's campaigned for 25 years for the policy of us leaving the European Union, ultimately something which the majority of the electorate have agreed with and we are now implementing that policy.’

I have seen talk that the mere mention of Farage getting a knighthood is TRIGGERING lefties :lol

Just For reference... Alexander Mercouris - The Duran

Image
Quote:
Alexander Mercouris is a London-based writer on international affairs with a special interest in Russia and law. He has written extensively on the legal aspects of NSA spying and events in Ukraine in terms of human rights, constitutionality and international law, being a frequent commentator on television and speaker at conferences. He worked for 12 years in the Royal Courts of Justice in London as a lawyer, specializing in human rights and constitutional law.

I have found value in "The Duran" Youtube channel. Editor-in-Chief of the Duran Alexander Mercouris, seems knowledgeable in UK law and has insights into international political things... Russia especially. I find it good to get a "European" perspective, if only to BALANCE US MSM Fake news. Of course UK (and European) MSM is also FakeNews, but the Duran provides a bit of a (Conservative) alternate source. The links to Russia are obvious at the Duran. A couple of their commentators live in Russia (but are ex-pat Americans), and work for RT. But... I dont detect "propaganda" on behalf of Russia... more just they do not start from a "Hate Russia" position... and so it's not all "Russia bad". They are certainly PRO TRUMP... conservative... and so get labeled as BAD by Western MSM of course
However, I just learned that Alexander Mercouris had a dubious recent past?

The Telegraph - Patrick Sawer, Senior Reporter, 28 July 2018
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/0 ... rd-admits/

IF this stuff is TRUE.. I have seen no sign of him being nuts now? So... seems he had some sort of "Breakdown" in 2012.
Quote:
In mitigation Mr Mercouris said he had had been diagnosed with depression after a nervous breakdown due to the strain of caring for his sick grandmother, and that he was “very sorry” for what he had done.

I imagine there is some truth in the story, but UK media do DISTORT and publish fake news... I imagine they would especially with "Russia" involved?

Quote:
After he was banned from practicing law Mr Mercouris reinvented himself as commentator on world affairs for Russian TV news outlets and websites.

He is Editor-in-Chief of an English language pro-Russian website The Duran, recently writing that the Helsinki summit between Presidents Putin and Trump was a positive step forward.

Mr Mercouris also regularly posts items in support of President Putin and the Russian government on his Facebook and Twitter pages.

I don't see many other reports, and NOTHING since Telegraph, July 2018. So I am guessing the matter is settled?

Swedish minister: I can't forgive the UK for Brexit
Jonathon Read
PUBLISHED: February 2019

Image

Sweden's foreign minister and a former European Commission vice president has said that she cannot forgive the UK or its political leaders for causing Brexit.

Margot Wallström branded it a “historical mistake” which has “created a problem for all of us” - reflecting a change of tone from European leaders towards the UK.

She said: “I cannot forgive them for this.

“I just think that they’ve made such a historical mistake and they’ve really created a problem for all of us.”

“Our political project, the European Union, will suffer from this immensely and that has to be fully understood,” she continued.

And Wallström blamed the political leaders in the UK for sparking the vote in the first place.

2020 Labour Party leadership election

A Labour Party leadership election is being planned for early 2020

Procedure
The election will be conducted under a pure "one member, one vote" (OMOV) system, using an alternative vote voting method to calculate the result. Candidates would be elected by members and registered and affiliated supporters, who all receive a maximum of one vote and all votes will be weighted equally. This means that, for example, members of Labor-affiliated trade unions need to register as affiliated Labour supporters to vote. Members who join up to two weeks after the timetable is set will be eligible to vote.

To stand, candidates needed to be nominated by at least 10% of the combined membership of the Parliamentary Labour Party (PLP) and European Parliamentary Labour Party (EPLP), meaning twenty-two MPs and MEPs at the time. As a result, a maximum of nine candidates can stand. They also needed to be nominated by at least 5% of Constituency Labour Parties (CLPs), meaning at least 33 CLPs, or at least three party affiliates that consist of at least 5% of affiliate members including at least two trades unions. Affiliates consist of affiliated trades unions and socialist societies.

The party's general secretary, Jennie Formby, recommended that the election should start on 7 January 2020.

Image
...Keir Starmer...... Emily Thornberry ..... Lisa Nandy......... Yvette Cooper....... Jess Phillips........ Clive Lewis ....Rebecca Long-Bailey

Everyone of them will be a disaster.. but funny as hell... can't wait. :cool

NOT that it will make any difference... Boris has the job for FIVE YEARS.. and likely another 5 unless he screws up in a catastrophic way (not likely).

The Labour Party need to get a clue before the election in 2029

EU laid bare: How Verhofstadt planned to keep UK in transition period for 'THREE years'

GUY VERHOFSTADT planned to keep Britain in a transition period for at least three years, a new book claims.

By Martina Bet
PUBLISHED: Sun, Dec 29, 2019

Image

Documentary maker Lode Desmet and BBC broadcaster Edward Stourton shadowed Guy Verhofstadt, the European Parliament’s representative on Brexit, for almost two years, to make a documentary and book on the process leading up to the UK’s first scheduled departure from the bloc on March 29, 2019.

The unique access provided an insight into the thoughts and worries of the EU negotiating team and revealed how Brussels really operated.

In their book “Blind Man’s Brexit”, published in September, the authors recalled how Mr Verhofstadt and German MEP Elmar Brok wanted the transition period to last for at least three years.

Apparently... (according to RevSimonSideways)
Gerard UKIP membership was formally "suspended".. and his "sins" spelled out (basically guilty of supporting Tommy Robinson)
So... Gerard quit the party.

GERARD BATTEN: Why I Have Resigned From UKIP
by Reece Coombes · 5:52 pm, January 1, 2020

Image

Earlier today I received a letter from the Interim National Party Chairman, Ben Walker, informing me that my membership had been suspended for eleven months. Mine is just the latest in a long line of such arbitrary and unjust suspensions. The reasons Mr Walker gives are customary of the misrepresentations, falsehoods and dishonesties that we have come to expect. I am not going to counter them here as they are unworthy of my response. I will however, give a brief account of how the Party came to be in its current position.
[...]
It is therefore with a very heavy heart that I made the decision to resign from UKIP almost twenty-eight years after helping to set it up. I will not advise other members what to do, that is up to them, but I will say this: UKIP was a grass roots party that belonged to its members – it does not belong to the NEC. If UKIP disappears it will be entirely due to the actions of its National Executive Committee.
