I did do some research (but will need to do it again) There was one "sleeping pill" reccomended above all others.. I think it was Halcion.
Apparently flight crews have problems... awake silly hours and then NEED to catch some sleep in a far away hotel... they take (whatever it is) to get some sleep.. yet not be zonked when they crew the next flight. Sounds good... so I will try that.

Ambien and Ambien CR (control release) are very popular, effective sleepers for travelers. But, they did not give me the longer, deeper CLUNK! Ambien must be taken when you decide to go to sleep...no watching TV or reading to get sleepy from it and then go to bed. Take it, snuggle down in the covers, turn off lights, relax, and you are out in ~15". I never experienced any adverse "wake-up" effects from it. Be sure and ask your MD if it is OK to take it with a shot...or 2...of bourbon. Also, you will need to take one dose at home, to ascertain if you are allergic to it. 37,000' straight up is not the best place to have an allergic reaction. Good Luck!

Virginia Man Accused of Posing as CIA Agent to Hide Bigamy

David Jin Lee

A Virginia man allegedly posed as a CIA agent to hide from one wife the fact that he was with another wife in another part of the state, authorities told News4.

David Jin Lee, 26, of Williamsburg, is married to a sailor based in Norfolk. He allegedly told her he was a CIA agent.

After Lee emailed her asking her to send money, saying he had been captured and tortured by North Korean agents on a mission to China, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service learned he was not with the CIA – and not in China or North Korea, either. He had been staying at a home in the City of Fairfax with a woman the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) believed to be his fiancée.

After agents and City of Fairfax police searched the home and interviewed the family there, they learned Lee also was married to that woman, with whom he fathered a child. A marriage certificate at the Fairfax County Courthouse further proved it, authorities said.

“That means bigamy here in Virginia, and it’s a serious offense,” City of Fairfax police Lt. Craig Buckley said. “It’s a Class 4 felony.”

One million cockroaches escape from Chinese farm

At least one million cockroaches have reportedly escaped a farm in China where they were being bred for use in traditional medicine.

AFP
7:14AM BST 25 Aug 2013

The cockroaches fled the facility in Dafeng, in the eastern province of Jiangsu, for surrounding cornfields earlier this month after an "unknown perpetrator" destroyed the plastic greenhouse where they were raised, the Modern Express newspaper said.

Disease control authorities have sent five investigators to the area to come up with a plan to stamp out the insects.

Farm owner Wang Pengsheng invested more than 100,000 yuan (£10,000) in 102 kilograms of Periplaneta americana eggs after spending six months developing a business plan, the report said.

The cockroach is generally considered a pest, but believers in traditional Chinese medicine - which uses both plants and animals, including endangered species - say extracts from it can treat diseases including cancer, reduce inflammation and improve immunity.

By the time the greenhouse was damaged, more than 1.5 million cockroaches had hatched and were being fed food including "fruits and biscuits" every day, Wang was quoted as saying.

The Walkie Talkie melted my Jag! Light reflected from under-construction City skyscraper buckles bodywork and mirror of businessman's car

  • Sunlight reflected from skyscraper is causing heat damage to cars beneath
  • Several panels of a Jaguar XJ had buckled in the glare
  • Other drivers say their vehicles have wilted in the beam of light

A £200million skyscraper has had an undeniably dazzling effect on passers-by – but not, unfortunately, the one intended by its architect.

20 Fenchurch Street, better known as the Walkie Talkie due to its distinctive shape, is reflecting blinding rays of light onto the street below, damaging the panels and wing mirror of a Jaguar XJ.

The car belongs to Martin Lindsay, the director of a tiling company, who parked his Jaguar in central London's Eastcheap on Thursday afternoon.

I had no idea sunlight could do that to a car. Hope insurance covers it.

They shouldn't allow parking in that area until the architect comes up with a solution for stopping it. (Tinting all the windows, maybe?)

NOT renting a car... Both would rather NOT have the worry of driving.... a few trains and buses... and some walking.

Ladybugs overwhelm parts of U.S. Southeast
By Colleen Jenkins
Wed Nov 6, 2013 6:16pm EST

(Reuters) -
Millions of ladybugs are invading homes and businesses in parts of the U.S. eastern seaboard and Gulf Coast this fall, causing headaches for residents who are fighting the invasion with vacuum cleaners that suck up the insects.

While harmless to humans, masses of the multi-colored invaders are a nuisance as they slip indoors through cracks around doors and windows. Plus they can stain curtains, upholstery and walls if squashed.

A spike in the ladybug population is typical this time of year as they fly out of the farm fields where they help control other insects and seek a warm place to spend the winter.

Man moves into house next to ex-wife and builds 12-foot bronze MIDDLE FINGER statue
16 Nov 2013 13:40

The strip club owner spent $7000 erecting the sculpture to permanently flip the bird at his ex-wife and her new lover

A Michigan strip club owner has bought the house next door to his ex-wife and erected a giant middle finger in the back yard.

Alan Markovitz, who owns a series of strip clubs in Detroit, spent $7,000 erecting the 12 foot tall bronze statue facing the house owned by ex-wife Lea Tuohy.

The pictures were posted on Twitter by Tuohy's daughter, Lenka.

But he says the middle finger salute isn't aimed at her, but at her new partner - with whom she started an affair while she and Markovitz were still married.

Markovitz told a local newspaper "I'm so over her. This is about him. This is about him not being a man."

Markovitz wrote an autobiography, modestly entitled Topless Prophet: The True Story of America's Most Successful Gentleman's Club Entrepreneur.

He's set to star in an HBO reality TV show with the same title in the new year.

He bought the house after an estate agent coincidentally showed him the house next door to Luohy.

After that, he says, "karma took over."

Over 10 yrs ago, Porn publisher Al Goldstein erected a middle finger sculpture facing boaters on the Intercoastal Waterway here in South Florida. Not sure why or if it's there anymore.

The middle finger. Hahaaa

About the ladybugs. We have those here every year and they sneak in the house and cluster in corners. I thought they were Asian beetles rather than ladybugs from what I had heard, so I wonder if they are correct about calling them ladybugs in the article. Years back I tried killing them and got stains all over a carpet ugh.

Leonardo Da Vinci's wacky piano is heard for the first time, after 500 years
November 18, 2013

A bizarre instrument combining a piano and cello has finally been played to an audience more than 500 years after it was dreamt up Leonardo da Vinci.

Da Vinci, the Italian Renaissance genius who painted the Mona Lisa, invented the ‘‘viola organista’’ - which looks like a baby grand piano – but never built it, experts say.

The viola organista has now come to life, thanks to a Polish concert pianist with a flair for instrument-making and the patience and passion to interpret da Vinci’s plans.

Full of steel strings and spinning wheels, Slawomir Zubrzycki’s creation is a musical and mechanical work of art.

‘‘This instrument has the characteristics of three we know: the harpsichord, the organ and the viola da gamba,’’ Zubrzycki said as he debuted the instrument at the Academy of Music in the southern Polish city of Krakow.
