I have taken an interest in gardening of late. The past couple of months I have planted azaleas, hibiscus, and angel wing begonias. I am really enjoying getting my hands dirty. :D

I USED to be a keen gardener. :95

Names of flowers I left to my wife :) But we did have a few... as well as a small but active veg garden. I never tried to be self sufficient.. but some veg are well worth growing. It's a NZ tradition to have a row of Tomato plants each year.. and I did that as well as lots of other stuff. With only two of us left at home.. there is less point and I have not bothered for a few years.

I am just enjoying the fact that I can actually GROW something! When I was younger, I was rather well known for my black thumb. I walked into the Green House at our high school, and KILLED 15 trays of plants. THAT is how bad I was.
I now have a Peach and 2 Red Hibiscus, my elephant ears are HUGE, and my aunt gave me a cutting off of her angel winged begoina, and it is thriving! I am just tickled pink! I guess it must be something I am getting better at with time, and patience.
Next year, I will try veggies. My Pops always said "You can't grow the needed stuff, if you can't keep the pretty stuff alive."

I still have a black thumb. I wonder if the plants know I'm a Vegetarian.

I can grow weeds really well, though. :84 (One weed I didn't pull a few years ago turned out to be a tree. It's now taller than my 2 story townhouse!)
