Trump Loses Another Russia Adviser, Adding to NSC Turnover
By Jennifer Jacobs, Nick Wadhams, and Justin Sink

The top Russia expert on President Donald Trump’s National Security Council has left his post after about three months, according to three people familiar with the matter.

Andrew Peek, the NSC’s senior director for European and Russian affairs, was escorted from the White House grounds on Friday, two of the people said, asking not to be identified because they weren’t authorized to discuss personnel matters. A spokesman for the NSC declined to comment, citing the same reason. Peek also declined to comment.

Axios reported earlier Saturday that Peek was placed on administrative leave pending a security-related investigation.

Comey under investigation for leaking Soros-Wasserman Schultz emails obtained by Dutch intelligence

James Comey focus of FBI leak investigation, report says
By Gregg Re | Fox News

Quote:
Dutch intelligence accessed the document on Russian computers and provided it to the FBI. Included in the document was a discussion between Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., then the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, and Leonard Benardo, who worked with the George Soros-founded group Open Society Foundations.

Schultz told Benardo in the document that then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch would ensure Clinton was not prosecuted in the email probe.

Ex-MI6 spy ‘fabricated dossier on Trump and prostitutes’

Image

The dossier on Donald Trump compiled by the former MI6 spy Christopher Steele, which accused the US president of being compromised by Russia, was a work of “fabrication”, according to a devastating report by a leading British spy writer.

Nigel West has revealed he was hired by a US Republican law firm to assess the dossier in 2017 and concluded that large parts of it were faked.

Failing NY Times has some info on Durham's Investigation, but they spin it as a "Trump Conspiracy Theory"

Justice Dept. Is Investigating C.I.A. Resistance to Sharing Russia Secrets
By Charlie Savage, Adam Goldman and Julian E. Barnes
Feb. 13, 2020, Updated 4:20 p.m. ET

[.....]
Since his election, President Trump has attacked the intelligence agencies that concluded that Russia secretly tried to help him win, fostering a narrative that they sought to delegitimize his victory. He has long promoted the investigation by John H. Durham, the prosecutor examining their actions, as a potential pathway to proving that a deep-state cabal conspired against him.
[....]
But Mr. Durham has not interviewed the former F.B.I. director James B. Comey, his onetime deputy Andrew G. McCabe or Mr. Brennan.

BREAKING: Department of Justice Drops Investigation Into Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe
By Charlie NashFeb 14th, 2020, 12:47 pm

Image

The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced it is dropping its investigation into former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, Friday.

In a letter, the US Attorney’s Office told McCabe’s defense counsel that the government decided against pursuing criminal charges and considers “the matter closed.”

“We write to inform you that, after careful consideration, the Government has decided not to pursue criminal charges against your client, Andrew G. McCabe, arising from the referral by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) to our Office of conduct described in OIG’s April 13, 2018, report entitled, ‘A Report of Investigation of Certain Allegations Relating to Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe,'” the letter stated. “Based on the totality of the circumstances and all of the information known to the Government at this time, we consider the matter closed.”

In a statement, McCabe’s counsel declared, “At long last, justice has been done in this matter. We said at the outset of the criminal investigation, almost two years ago, that if the facts and the law determined the result, no charges would be brought. We are pleased that Andrew McCabe and his family can go on with their lives without this cloud hanging over them.”

Here we go again…

“No reasonable prosecutor would bring this case”

What difference at this point does it make?

As I have said many times.... (confirmed again by Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WXTNeVepSc

THERE IS NO INDICATION THAT DURHAM IS DOING A CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION

It looks like he is doing a glorified IG investigation

As I have said before..... if Durham was doing a Proper Criminal Investigation it would be a huge operation with many staff, warrants, subpoenas search warrants etc. There is no sign of that happening. At best Durham is doing a REVIEW of some of the existing evidence. Just like Huber.

It was obvious throughout the Obama administration that the FBI and DoJ were "selective" and corrupt. And likely other Agencies were too. Probably, they were corrupt even before Obama, but it was less obvious and likely less severe. There was certainly no doubt about the corruption under Obama, with Holder as AG and the various scandals. The investigation of Crooked Hillary emails looked to be rigged in 2015, we lived in hope, but the ludicrous Comey exoneration confirmed that "investigation" was a sham. The HOPE that remained was that Hillary would be indicted and sent to prison if Trump won the election, but that never happened. It got worse as the corrupt attack on the Trump campaign, his transition and even Trump as President was revealed. An actual COUP (which is still ongoing).
It was clear to me mid 2017 that nothing would be done by DoJ/FBI to hold there own people accountable, nor people in various other agencies Intelligence and even the military. I went along with a glimmer of hope that one of the reports/Congressional inquiries would open things up, but I think I abandoned that fantasy at the end of 2017, with the congress having got nowhere, and OIG (Horowitz) report DELAYED for months. Reviews, Probes, hearings etc achieve.... NOTHING. Even a "criminal referral" just sits for 2 years before being declined. There is no sign of proper criminal Investigations (outside the Mueller witch hunt).
I think we need to "give up" on "the plan". Nobody will be indicted, certainly not indited for the real serious underlying crimes involved in the Coup, and the many people involved will not even get a mention. On a positive note... Trump can still continue Making America Great. He can maybe get rid of a few of the Deep State (but plenty will remain), and he is getting to Replace Federal Judges (though I wonder who is actually picking the supposedly "good" judges?). Trump may well have a Republican House and Senate after the election. That will help, but but there will still be a lot anti-Trumpers in the Senate and the House.

Obviously there has been a reluctance to investigate, let alone indict those responsible for the Coup etc
I have said before that IMO they cant afford to indict just one or 2 (scapegoats) because they are all entwined, and prosecution of any individual will open up vast corruption from Obama and all the way though DoJ, FBI. CIA and many other agencies.. during Obama administration and even now while Trump is POTUS.
I am convinced that Barr KNOWS what happened, but I don't think he will be prepared to indict anybody and start the upheaval.

Top NSC official may be moved after "Anonymous" rumor fallout
Axios
Jonathan Swan, Margaret Talev

Top Trump administration officials are in discussions to reassign deputy national security adviser Victoria Coates to the Department of Energy from the National Security Council, per two sources familiar with the planning.

Why it matters: Coates' working relationship with National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien, who elevated her to the deputy role only months ago, has strained amid an effort by some people inside the administration to tag her as "Anonymous" — a charge she has vehemently denied to colleagues.

Trump campaign sues New York Times for libel over 2019 op-ed

President Trump's reelection campaign is suing The New York Times for libel, claiming that the newspaper knowingly published false information about the president in an op-ed last year.

The lawsuit, filed in New York State Supreme Court on Wednesday, accuses the Times of intentionally defaming Trump with an op-ed claiming that his 2016 campaign had an "overarching deal" with Russia.

"The statements were and are 100 percent false and defamatory," Jenna Ellis, a lawyer for the campaign, said in a statement.

"The complaint alleges The Times was aware of the falsity at the time it published them, but did so for the intentional purpose of hurting the campaign, while misleading its own readers in the process,” Ellis added.

A spokeswoman for the Times did not immediately respond when asked for comment.

Trump says he will nominate Rep. John Ratcliffe to be director of national intelligence
By Zachary Cohen and Jason Hoffman, CNN
Updated 0107 GMT (0907 HKT) February 29, 2020

Image

(CNN) President Donald Trump said on Friday that he intends to nominate Rep. John Ratcliffe, a Republican from Texas, as his permanent director of national intelligence, the second time the President has attempted to make the loyalist lawmaker his spy chief.
"I am pleased to announce the nomination of @RepRatcliffe (Congressman John Ratcliffe) to be Director of National Intelligence (DNI)," Trump said on Twitter. "Would have completed process earlier, but John wanted to wait until after IG Report was finished. John is an outstanding man of great talent!"
Ratcliffe had been nominated as Trump's DNI pick after Dan Coats stepped down from the post in July 2019, but the Texas congressman withdrew his name from consideration after lawmakers from both parties raised concerns about his qualifications. CNN reported earlier this week that the President was once again considering Ratcliffe to be the permanent director.

So these are subpoenas to gather a jury or issues of subpoenas by a sitting grand jury?

I assume it's just part of the GJ process.... subpoenaing witnesses (and maybe documents)... before they actually make a ruling on issuing an indictment.
