The intermediary between longtime Trump confidant Roger Stone and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been subpoenaed by special counsel Robert Mueller to appear before a grand jury in September, a new report says.

The lawyer for the intermediary, Randy Credico, confirmed to CNN that Credico had gotten a subpoena this week. He plans to submit to the subpoena and will testify on Sept. 7.

“My speculation is that they probably want to talk to him about Roger Stone and Julian Assange,” Martin Stolar, Credico’s attorney, told CNN.

Trump-Appointed Judge Rules Against Indicted Russian Firm
August 13, 2018

WASHINGTON (CN) – A federal judge appointed by President Donald Trump on Monday denied a Russian company’s motion to dismiss criminal charges brought by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, rejecting claims about the legitimacy of the investigation into interference in the 2016 election.

Concord Management and Consulting’s attempts to discredit the investigation were shot down in a 41-page ruling from U.S. District Judge Dabney Friedrich, who was appointed by Trump to the District of Columbia bench last year.

IF the second Special Counsel is as Joe describes, I will (reluctantly) go along with that.

Joe describes the case as "not that complicated" to investigate and put before a Special Grand Jury... and so some hope it WONT take years.

Papadopoulos sentencing

In a late Friday submission to the court Special Counsel Robert Mueller has presented a sentencing memo recommending 30 days jail for George Papadopoulos. The basic charge against Papadopoulos was lying about the timing and substance of his meeting with Maltese professor Joseph Misfud.

Ex-Trump aide Michael Flynn's sentencing delayed, once again

A hearing to sentence former national security adviser Michael Flynn on charges of lying to the FBI has been delayed yet again – a sign that Flynn could still be cooperating in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.

“Due to the status of its investigation, the Special Counsel’s Office does not believe that this matter is ready to be scheduled for a sentencing hearing at this time,” reads a court document filed Tuesday by both Mueller and Flynn’s attorney.

Michael Cohen surrenders to FBI, plea deal expected soon

(CNN) Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former personal attorney, has surrendered to the FBI ahead of a 4 p.m. court proceeding, where the government is expected to disclose a plea deal, according to a law enforcement source.
As part of the deal, Cohen is expected to plead guilty to multiple counts of campaign finance violations, tax fraud and bank fraud, according to three sources. The deal would include jail time and a substantial monetary fine.
Among the sticking points in the talks, the two sides were negotiating over jail time, according to one source. Cohen is pressing for three years but prosecutors are seeking 50 months.

Cohen has been concerned about asset forfeiture, leaving his family with nothing. Prosecutors made clear that there was a bigger risk should he go to trial and be found guilty that he would have to forfeit assets.

U.S. judge allows Mueller case against Russian company to proceed

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A U.S. judge on Monday backed Special Counsel Robert Mueller in the federal Russia investigation, allowing a case to proceed against a Russian company accused of helping fund a propaganda operation to sway the 2016 presidential election in Donald Trump’s favor.

Judge Dabney Friedrich, in an opinion filed in the U.S. District court for the District of Columbia, rejected an argument by the company, Concord Management and Consulting LLC, that Mueller was unlawfully appointed and lacked prosecutorial authority.

“By investigating and prosecuting Concord, the Special Counsel did not exceed his authority,” Friedrich wrote in her opinion.

Seems the Special Counsel has admitted he has unchecked authority and the final say

Friedrich pressed prosecutor Dreeban to explain what, if any, Justice Department regulations exist that serve as a check on Mueller’s authority.

“What kind of standard is it for Mr. Mueller or anyone else,” Friedrich asked.

Dreeban did not specify the precise regulations or policies at issue, but assured the court that the special counsel follows them and regularly consults with Rosenstein on major prosecutorial developments.

But Friedrich appeared skeptical at times that sufficient power exists to check the authority of Mueller, who can only be removed for good cause. She questioned whether Rosenstein could intervene if he disagreed with a prosecutorial decision made by Mueller, and if he could take action in the event of a minor disagreement.

In the latter case, Friedrich asked who makes the call.

“Under the regulation, as drafted, it seems like the special counsel does,” Friedrich said.
