Innings Break

Pakistan 246/9 (50/50 ov) RR 4.92

Target for NZ 247
Req RR 4.94

NOT a huge ask but IMO NZ need to bat aggressively... not pace themselves to just get there after 50 overs.
There is always the possibility of RAIN.. and it pays to be ahead of the DL calculation :)

I HATE seeing Munro out. :(

This is a big game changer, unless when (IF) Taylor gets in there and bats his best. ;)

Rain :doh

Pakistan 246/9
New Zealand 64/2 * (14/50 ov, target 247)
New Zealand require another 183 runs with 8 wickets and 36.0 overs remaining

It's not a legit game unless they play 20 overs.

I am not sure how accurate this DL calculator is.. but FWIW
https://www.easycalculation.com/sports/ ... ulator.php

The DL target at 14 overs with 2 wickets down is ... 64, so NZ is JUST on target. To be safe they need to do at least a little better :roll

For insatnce, if NZ lose another wicket, they are well BEHIND the DL target

Pre-game BS..

From espn (FWIW)
Relatively sunny in Dunedin today. Not a great chance of rain later in the day.

Personally... I would ASSUME rain will interrupt.
I would bat SECOND if I won the toss. If I was batting first.. I would bat like hell from the outset, before rain intervened.

Williamson won the toss... and decided to bat :doh

NOT a silly decision, but I repeat.... NZ need to make the most of batting and set a HUGE target. As I have said before... 300+ is expected these days.

Perhaps a RR of 5 for the first few overs.... but rising to 6 and more as the game progresses.

Munro hits a 6 in second over :87

ETA
SHIT!!!!!

Munro OUT... caught!!

C Munro c †Sarfraz Ahmed b Faheem Ashraf 8 (4b 0x4 1x6) SR: 200.00

Unfortunate that Munro out... but (as with McCullum).... "live by the sword die by the sword".... better luck next time.
As I (often) bang on about.. at least he "did his bit"... no shame in going out with a SR of 200%...

New Zealand 15/1 * (1.4/50 ov) RR 9.0

I accept a (little) bit of time taken to "stabilize the innings" but..

Williamson has faced 16 balls for 3 runs... he needs to get on with it!! :doh
Guptill too has faced a lot of dot balls since his good start.
With Taylor (and Latham) to follow.. the current two batsmen need to "pull finger" :roll

Martin Guptill SR 76%
Kane Williamson SR 18.75%

New Zealand 31/1 * (7/50 ov) RR 4.42

"Maiden overs" are getting on my tits :cool

ETA
If either of these players get out now they leave future team members with a "deficit" of runs. They NEED to make up that deficit themselves.... quickly.. and then bat on at 100% plus.

Talk about SLOW!!!

Even if NZ are looking to settle for a (low) score of say 250-260..... then on average players STILL need to produce a SR of around 85%

These two supposedly TOP batsmen are below even that!! :doh

If they get out they leave a deficit for low order batsmen to make up.

ETA - Wicket
MJ Guptill run out 45 (62b 4x4 1x6) SR: 72.58

New Zealand 84/2 * (20.1/50 ov) RR 4.16

Here we go ... Taylor :roll

What a shame Guptill didn't get his half-century. :(

I'm still enjoying this match! Slow or not, can't worry about a low score target.

But I'm with you, Rumpole. Better batting would make it more exciting.

TAYLOR! I hope he's hot today.

Guptill scoring a half century.. at a a rate of 72% would not be great for the team.... somebody would have to make up for 20 dot balls

And...... RAIN!! Just spots at the moment.

A shortened game and DL calculations would be the icing on the cake :)
