Thursday 11 August 2016 06.01 BST

Swedish prosecutors investigating rape allegation will meet WikiLeaks founder in London embassy

Julian Assange will be questioned by Swedish prosecutors inside the Ecuadorian embassy in London, in a possible breakthrough to end the impasse over his case.

The Ecuadorian attorney general delivered a document agreeing to a request by the Swedish prosecutor to question the founder of WikiLeaks.

He is wanted for questioning over a rape allegation, which he denies. If he goes to Sweden he believes he will be taken to the US because of the activities of WikiLeaks.

Assange has been living inside the embassy for more than four years and has been granted political asylum by Ecuador.

He has offered to be questioned inside the embassy but Swedish prosecutors have only recently agreed.

A statement issued in Ecuador said: “In the coming weeks a date will be established for the proceedings to be held at the embassy of Ecuador in the United Kingdom.

Seems Assange's former or current attorney just kicked the bucket.

Assange lawyer dies

Top lawyer John Jones QC, known for representing WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, has died.

"With immense sadness we share the tragic news of the death of John Jones QC," said a statement from his legal firm, Doughty Street Chambers, where he was the head of its international criminal law team. It did not provide any details on the nature or location of his death.

Jones specialized in war crimes, counter-terrorism and extradition and defended a number of high-profile suspects in war crimes covering the former Yugoslavia, Rwanda and Sierra Leone, among others. He was representing the son of former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, Saif

Hi Carm :69

This is a very good (but lengthy) article about Assange's attorney subsequent to an inquest.
Sounds like he was extremely ill and the circumstances of his death are sad.

Security fears for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange after a 'cat burglar' scaled the walls of the Ecuadorian embassy where he has been camping for four years

  • Security scare sparked when intruder was spotted scaling wall

A security scare was sparked at the Ecuadorian embassy in London - where WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been living for four years - after an intruder was spotted scaling the wall.

The incident happened at around 2.47am on Monday at the side of the building, which has a window. Sources said the man fled after being caught by the embassy's security.

Scotland Yard called off its multimillion-pound 24-hour surveillance of the embassy last October, saying the operation was 'no longer proportionate'.

Mr Assange, who has been granted political asylum by Ecuador, has offered to be questioned inside the embassy but the Swedish prosecutors only recently agreed.

The Ecuadorian attorney general said earlier this month that a date would be set in the coming weeks for the proceedings to be held.

It is understood that the intruder was confronted at a window by embassy security staff.

An embassy spokesman said: 'The incident is under investigation.'

I am wondering what is actually going on here. The Ecuadorian Embassy only occupies a portion of the ground floor of the London building. Why would anyone need to climb up the building to get to Assange? The building itself is huge and it seems that there are many tenants so why risk a wall scaling at 2:30 in the morning on a very exposed building? Clintons are brazen but not stupid. There would be much more reasonable ways to get at Assange if that was the goal of the chap climbing the building.

Why wasn't the climber caught if Embassy security could see that he was wearing "climbing shoes" ? Was he just seen on a security camera? Was he seen by other tenants? Someone on the street?

And I also wonder what Assange could have access to at this point that Uncle Obama doesn't know about. I have to believe that the US is intercepting every keystroke typed at the Ecuadorian Embassy.

What is Assange's end game? He harmed the US and if he has information that could take Hillary out of the race and his desire is to do so, why hasn't Assange already done so?

Something about the Assange "assassination attempt" story doesn't pass the sniff test.

I am going to be brief, Carm, and just say I agree with everything you stated. Thought we'd wake up the next day to all kinds of news stories. :roll

But then, you never know.
I'm gonna keep an open mind until proven one way or the other. :D

Well apparently Assange was on that wretched Megyn Kelly's show and said he'll be releasing more documents. I'm going to see if I can find the interview. Watching Kelly ranks third for me for most vomit inducing right behind Obama and Hillary.

Here is link to the video. I'm not impressed. Blah blah blah.....either Assange has the goods and is going to fry Hillary or he doesn't and isn't. Kelly makes me sick.

I saw the interview Carm..... worth listening to Julian... but listening to Crazy Megyn is too high a price to pay. He didn't say anything new. He has stuff on Crooked Hillary which he will release in time to stuff her up :)

The crafty cow, Kelly only played half her interview.. so people have to watch again tomorrow :wall

Be sure to check out the https://wikileaks.org/ website anytime. It has good advanced search features.

They are going to release more information and I can promise it will NOT BE HELPING the Clinton cause. :)

‘Ridiculous to say Assange faces no threat’ – WikiLeaks founder’s advisor to RT
Published time: 7 Sep, 2016 21:07

Comments insisting that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange faces no threat should he be extradited to Sweden are “ridiculous,” Sarah Harrison, a WikiLeaks editor and Assange’s advisor, told RT following a press conference by Swedish prosecutors on Wednesday.

According to Harrison, who was present at the hearing, the prosecutors wanted just to restate their position on the Assange case once again ahead of a documentary that looks into this case and the prosecutors’ handling of it. She added that the documentary will be aired by the Swedish SVT channel later Wednesday.

The WikiLeaks editor lashed out at the Swedish prosecutors, saying that it was “telling” that they began their press conference by saying that they had no new information.

WikiLeaks' Assange to be questioned over rape allegations
Ecuador recently agreed to allow Assange to be interrogated

LONDON (CNN) Wikileaks founder Julian Assange will be questioned in the Ecuadorian embassy in London next month over rape allegations, the Ecuadorian prosecutor's office said.

Swedish prosecutors issued an arrest warrant for Assange in August 2010 based on allegations of sexual assault by two female Wikileaks volunteers in the country and have for years sought his extradition. Ecuador said last month it would allow an interrogation of Assange.

The announcement comes a week after Sweden renewed its calls for Ecuador to go ahead with the interrogation. Sweden and Ecuador had signed an agreement for cooperation and mutual legal assistance on criminal matters.

According to a statement released Monday evening, Ecuadorian prosecutor Wilson Toainga Toainga will lead the interrogation October 17, based on questions sent by Swedish authorities, and DNA samples may be taken from Assange.

Questioning of Julian Assange by Swedish authorities postponed

Sweden and Ecuador had agreed date for interview in London over rape allegation, but that is now scheduled for November

The questioning of Julian Assange by Swedish prosecutors at the Ecuadorean embassy in London has been postponed until mid-November.

Ecuador’s attorney general said on Wednesday that the long-awaited interview, due to take place on Monday, would be delayed until 14 November to ensure that Assange’s legal team could attend.
