Hi Rumpole, running late here but this is it on a nail head. Mosby has her Baltimore 6 and Nel has his Oscar Pistorius. Both Nel and Mosby are vile human beings.

Hopefully I'll be around later.

Ciao!

ITV have aired The infamous doco. I cant find it on YT... yet

But.... here is a South African doco type show.. a local introduction then the entire interview.

Oscar Pistorius: The Interview

Why did the ‘Blade Runner’ decide to grant ITV this interview? And how should one interpret the information he’s sharing with Peabody award-winning investigative journalist Mark Williams-Thomas? In this Carte Blanche special esteemed experts bring in-depth analysis as they discuss the content and implications of Oscar Pistorius’ first TV interview since the events of February 2013. Hosted by John Webb and Bongani Bingwa.

She needs to consider if there is any reason to impose less than the "minimum" 15 years.

She is describing testimony of the Shrink... Oscar's winess.. Prof Scholtz

carrying on summarizing all witness testimony

Now.. personal circumstances of OP

Quote:
Cape Argus@TheCapeArgus
#OscarPistorius Masipa: prison nurse Sister Mashabane was a good witness, but veracity of evidence given by Dr Scholtz could not be tested

This sounds bad... Sister Mashabane... IMO... was a nasty "Nurse Ratched" type... Masipa is not a good Judge of character
And..... The shrink was OK... again it was Nel's interrogation and badgering that cause the "problems" during cross-examination.

Judge banging on about how nice Reeva was... which seems to me to be irrelevant.... OP is (in effect) convicted of killing an intruder.

This sort of thinking leads to the converse... that murder is not so bad if the victim is ugly or a not nice person?

OP shot and killed Reeva unintentionally...

Nel (and the Steenkamp parents) are DELIBERATELY trying to do harm to OP....

I think Nel is the person who deserves to burn in hell... The Steenkamp parents need a light roasting too.

She mentioned the FALSE perceptions in the Public (and Reeva's parents) that there was an argument and OP is guilty of Dolus directus.

For that the ENTIRE blame is with Nel!!!!

Judge Masipa: "our courts are courts of law not public opinion"

Masipa announces "Six years"

I have no idea what that means... Is that on top of, or instead of, the 5 years he was sentenced to before?

Masipa is in chambers in case counsel wish to appeal????

Does OP go to prison? Does he do an extra year of home detention? I have no idea.

What a farce.. all that crap as preamble... then a 30 second ambiguous announcement :wall

The GOOD news is that all the ignorant Twitterteuses are pissed off that the sentence is too light.

OFFS :doh

A South African journalist tweets that state prosecutors may appeal, but not Pistorius's team:

That's all we need.... apparently Nel could appeal the length of sentence!!!! :wall

Quote:
Pistorius taken to jail
The former athlete is taken to prison immediately following his six-year sentence for murder. He will be serving the sentence in the hospital wing of the Kgosi Mampuru II prison in Pretoria, where he served part of his original sentence.

Quote:
However the judge has said she will hear any requests to appeal her judgement from the state or the defence today.

Last month before the sentencing proceedings began, a source close to the prosecution told The Telegraph they would appeal if the judge handed the athlete less than eight years in prison.

"If all goes according to what we would really like to happen, in the worst-case scenario it would be 10 years," the source said. "We think she might go down to eight. You would expect the system to work and we will do the best we can. We can only hope for the best but she has disappointed us before.

"If we get a pittance of a sentence, make no mistake we will appeal. We can apply for leave to appeal and it will go to the full bench of high court. If it’s going to be less than eight years, there is no way we are not going to appeal. It sets such a bad precedent if a murderer doesn’t get life. This was a brutal murder. "

The Guardian Blog

Quote:
It is notable that Pistorius’ original sentence, when he was initially found guilty of culpable homicide (the equivalent of manslaughter), was five years.

He served 10 months of that in prison before being eligible for parole under house arrest.

The increase in sentence – bearing in mind the judge spelt out how much more serious a crime murder is – was just one year.

It is not clear yet how much of the six-year sentence he will be compelled to serve in prison before he will once again be eligible for parole.

#Pistorius Legal experts say OP can be paroled for good behaviour after serving a third of the sentence - that is two years

I can not find precise estimate of when OP will get out.... many say he will serve half and be out in 3 years.

I did see mention that time served so far is NOT counted as time served on this?

"The time that Pistorius has already served in prison is not subtracted from his new sentence."
