Global Warming Predictions: FAIL

US Temps versus NASA 1988 Global Warming Predictions: 25 Years Later, NOAA Documents Embarrassing Failure
January 19, 2014 at 08:38 AM

Image

Back in 1988 (that would be 25 years ago) NASA scientists predicted that global temperatures would increase by 2 to 5 degrees Fahrenheit, within 30 years, if human CO2 fossil fuel use continued to increase by 1.5% per year.

Well....how's that expert NASA climate prediction working out for Americans?

L.O.L., big time.

During 1988 the average U.S. temperature was 52.6°F. And for 2013, 25 years later? The mean 2013 U.S. temp was 52.4°F.

Yep, you read that correctly. The 2013 temperature was below the 1988 temperature. Now, it's not quite 30 years yet, but it's obvious at the 25 year mark that the "experts" are spectacularly clueless when it comes to predicting climate and temperatures.

And what about that scary 'business-as-usual' global fossil fuel growth of 1.5% per year that the leading NASA climate scientist warned would cause temperatures to skyrocket? Ooops, annual global fossil fuel growth averaged 2.3%

Indeed, the chart at the top indicates that the growth of atmospheric CO2 levels has been phenomenal since around 1950. And as the bright red trend curve depicts, U.S. temperatures have been increasing since 1895 - more so since the early 1980s to the late 1990s when U.S. temperature increases flattened, and then literally started to cool per NOAA's NCDC climate division.

Solar cycles seem to be more of a cause than then the product of the so-called carbon foortprint we humans are supposed to emit. They blame severe cold as well as extreme heat on global warming.

EXCERPT

'Whatever measure you use, solar peaks are coming down,' Richard Harrison of the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire told the BBC.

'I've been a solar physicist for 30 years, and I've never seen anything like this.'

He says the phenomenon could lead to colder winters similar to those during the Maunder Minimum.

'There were cold winters, almost a mini ice age.

'You had a period when the River Thames froze.'

Unfortunately a lot of people are invested (intellectually and financially) in the "Global Warming" scam.

It will persist.

Everything you need to know about "Global Warming".

Discuss the physics. Discuss the data. What conclusion do you come to?

Hi boyntonstu.

Happy to give "Global Warming" a try... but it is a topic that usually "ends in tears"

We already had this thread so I moved your post here.

I think my opinion on the subject is obvious :)

What I mean is it ends in personal back and forth... :2

or worse.....

Spoiler:
POLITICS :WW

I guess we can discuss the actual science... but even there people have their own pet "statistic" that they claim proves their POV.

Is the North Pole an 'Ice Cap"? Yes or No? POV is irrelevant to the scientific evidence.

Have you watched the video?

I said I was OK with the thread... not that I personally want to engage in the discussion... or watch the video.

Seems if you want to "challenge" me from the outset with "Have you watched the video?" then you have an axe to grind?

Are you looking for an argument? :2

I really am NOT that interested in the subject at all, but maybe somebody else will be. :)

Got a phone call this morning from someone who said, "I'm calling to thank you for your support for the EPA." (I don't remember ever supporting them, but then again, my memory is not all that great either.) The caller was asking for a $50.00 donation to help diminish climate change while mentioning that last year was the warmest year in decades. Finally getting a word in edgewise, I said, "Actually, I believe it was the coldest year in decades." He then wished me a pleasant day and hung up the phone. Now that he hung up the phone, my day is turning out to be a lot more pleasant.

YES :)

I just did watch the Video.... It is and hour and a half long, so one does need to slot it into a suitable time.

Thanks, boyntonstu :)

I do recommend it.

Dr Easterbrook presents the facts well. His information is what I believe anyway, based on what I have read and heard from many sources, and of course my own evaluation of what evidence I have seen outlined. Of course I do not have his facts and figures at my finger tips, nor his experience and authority to argue the case. Hence when I come up against a "Man Made Global Warming" fanatic.. I no longer bother even trying.

While watching the video I did in passing think that I might point people to this... but on further consideration, I am SURE even that would not dissuade them from their "faith" in Man Made Global Warming. It IS more like a Religion than a Scientific appreciation of the facts. It can not be altered by simple supplying facts.

As I watch the video and see we are currently in a period of "Global cooling" the sad fact occurred to me that the fanatics will likely sit this period out to some extent. The next likely period of actual global warming (not man made) is coming.... and they will no doubt pounce on that to further their "cause".

Many say that money is the root of all evil.

I disagree.

I say that "Faith" is the root of evil.

Faith is coming to a conclusion without facts to support it.

Politics is a 'faith' religion.

The TM crowd operates on faith.

Man made global warming 'belief' is both a money and faith based religion.

And of course there is religion itself.

Young Muslims appear happy when committing suicide because they have faith that they will be greeted by 70 virgins.

Faith!

Excerpt

What Gore said to the audience at the University of Hawaii.

“Barriers” prevent definitive action on climate change, Gore said, blaming fossil-fuel proponents and fake science promoted by critics who say humans have no influence on the climate’s fluctuations

“That’s immoral, unethical and despicable,” he said of both groups.

I have been "biting my tongue" :)

If Al Gore is the answer... then it is a very stupid question.
