Japan Spends US$125K on World’s Largest Restroom (Ladies Only)

Do you ever feel as if someone is watching you when you are using the toilet? :13

They say that a 6.5-foot wall will shield women from prying eyes and that there is also a curtain they can use to further protect themselves while in the glass-encased toilet.

According to an official from the Tourism Promotion Department in Ichihara City, the extravagant toilet enclosure and its picturesque surroundings were created as a tourist attraction at next year’s Ichihara City Art Festival, a government-led initiative to “help improve the area through the renovation of public facilities with the help of arts.”

As an aside.....

If traveling to Asia you may confront "The Squatter" toilet. :13

Image

Usually the "European" style is also available... especially at Hotels and "Tourist" areas.

I managed to avoid having to use Squatters... mostly... but needs must at times!! :13

Quite disconcerting... especially when there seems to be no toilet paper provided.... but there IS an industrial type hose positioned to one side :31

Informative Instructions

Otherwise you are on your own :11

Glad they give instructions. Hahaa

I never sit anyway so squatting would no problem but no paper. AAACk! Carry fig leaves in or something.

Years back there were some really cool pictures floating around the net of public glass toilets that you could see out of but no one could see in. Although some people say if you press your eyes close enough on way-one glass you can see through it. Not sure what they were made of but can't find any of those images anyway. All the sites seem to have the same one and the one you posted, Rumpy.

From my "Dad's Tips" file (Tips on Life the Universe and Everything)

One needs to carry a small "kit" when wandering around foreign parts... this includes a mini-pack of tissues!!

Seriously... when I arrived in Singapore I could not understand why people were buying bulk packets of the small pocket sized tissues.. but soon found out. You simple need a pack (or 2)! As hand wipes, napkins at food stalls etc... and..... in an emergency toilet paper. You go thru at least a pack per day... and they can cost a buck or two bought individually... but cost only cents per packet from the Supermarket :24
