Thanks for the live broadcast link. Had no idea this was going on.
He's talking about staying on air and trying to carry this for 11 more hours. :eek

So glad to see Steve has his own network. He worked his ass off on the other one.

Mr. World Peace in NZ just donated $5. ;)

CBC LIVE VIDEO - From the press area (a mile from cave entrance)

https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/thai-cave ... -1.4738333

Clearly it's raining... but not heavy.... yet

At the moment seeing awnings over chairs and tables...and people with plates of food... it brings back memories of Singapore Hawkers markets... I could pass away a few hours... a bowl of Prawn Tom Yum... and a few tiger beers.. before the Monsoon arrives

Image

Of course we all hope that the rains will stay away... but if they do come, and that camera is in place it might show how the monsoon can come SUDDENLY.. and how torrential the rain is.

ETA - Thai Time
2:05 PM, Sunday, 8 July 2018 (GMT+7)

CAMERA position has shifted... left and forward.
I guess because some damned Germans were doing a piece to camera...at the right of the live shot. They were AWARE that they were in the fixed camera guys shot.. they moved slightly.. but carried on anyway.. yapping away in German :doh
TYPICAL.. if there were any "pool loungers" around... they would be "claiming them" by draping their towels on them.

Image

ETA
Camera has zoomed out to similar shot as initially... German yappers have gone! :roll

Watching the live stream gives me a LITTLE hope. It was raining, but only lightly initially, and since it has remained not raining at all, and the ground has dried out. Assuming the weather is similar at the cave entrance, and more importantly in the hills that are the "catchment area" for the water in the cave... conditions should have remained as good as they were when the rescue was commenced... inside the cave may have even DRIED considerably. I know from my experiences with tropical monsoons.. they may cause "flash floods" rapidly, but almost amazingly all the water drains away quickly once the rain stops.. and surface wetness is totally gone as quick as it came.
Lets hope water levels in the cave have dropped, and the rescue yields success in 6 hours or so. :)

ETA
I hope I did not speak too soon....
It just got a lot darker... if that is as it is... and not just a camera brightness thing... then in my experience it could be time to get undercover (near a stall selling Tiger beer) as the skies could open within half an hour :95

Image

ETA
It has brightened up again :)

OH DEAR.....

It got dark as before... and this time the skies opened within 2 minutes

Image

Image

It eased off after just a few minutes....

Day 2 Thai Cave Rescue:

Guardian saying that divers will go back in.... "soon"

It's just after 10:00 am in Thailand. That is the time Day 1 rescue started.

A live look near the road leading to the cave in Thailand where the remaining eight boys and their coach are still trapped inside.

Only a short clip :doh

Shows its NOT raining at that moment

------------------
It is FRUSTRATING that the commenters on Agenda-Free TV do NOT seem to grasp the difference between facts and speculation.. often silly.

A live look outside of the Chiang Rai hospital. Four of the boys trapped in the cave in Thailand were removed on Sunday evening and then transported to the hospital.

This looks to be live (at the moment), and no rain :)
(I sent this little fact to Steve YT comments... no interest?)

It stopped being live after 23 minutes :doh

Update from Thai government

The same divers who rescued the first four boys will also conduct the next operation as they know the cave conditions and what to do, said Thailand’s interior minister.

In comments released by the government, interior minister Anupong Paojinda said officials were meeting on Monday morning about the next stage of the operation and how to extract the remaining nine people from the cave in the country’s north.

Anupong said divers need to place more air canisters along the underwater route to where the boys and their coach are trapped. He said that process can take several hours.

He said the boys who were rescued on Sunday are strong and safe but need to undergo detailed medical checks.

"No hugging, no touching," but rescued children should be able to see their families tonight

The four boys who were rescued last night are in good overall health and should be able to see their families later today, according to a key health official.

Dr Thongchai Lertwilairattanapong, an inspector for Thailand’s health department, said the four boys have undergone a series of tests at Prachanukroh hospital in Chiang Rai.

He told the Thai daily newspaper Kom Chad Lek, that the boys should be able to see close relatives later today after tests were completed, but warned there must be no physical contact until the results of blood tests came back.

“Visitors will only be allowed to meet and talk to the patients,” he said. “No hugging or touching and they [visitors] need to leave a one to two metre distance from the patients until the results of their blood tests come back.”

Thongchai said doctors were checking to make sure the children are free from serious infections such as leptospirosis and meliodosis.

Kom Chad Led said the kids have undergone blood tests, lung X-rays and urine tests. One of the concerns is refeeding syndrome, which can affect people who have experienced severe malnourishment.

A helicopter has landed close to the rescue site, says our reporter Jacob Goldberg.

We don’t know what this means and have been given very little official information today, but Jacob and our other reporters will bring you updates as soon as we have them.

Our reporter Jacob Goldberg reports that soon after the helicopter was seen landing near the cave site, an ambulance was seen driving toward it and now rain is coming down heavily.

two more ambulances have driven by in the last hour. still waiting for any official information on today’s progress.

one more ambulance drove by. not clear that any boys are in these ambulances though. if the divers went in after 9am, as we believe they did, they wouldn’t be out until tonight.

The sudden rush of activity at the cave site – helicopter and ambulance arriving – might seem like a rescue is imminent.

However it is worth pointing out that our reporters were told that as of 9am local time (4 hours ago) rescue divers had not entered the cave, so that would mean a very quick return trip if a group is about to emerge from the cave.

--------------------
Somboon Sompiangjai, 38, the father of one of the trapped boys, has told Reuters that parents were told by rescuers ahead of Sunday’s operation the “strongest children” would be brought out first.

“We have not been told which child has been brought out ... We can’t visit our boys in hospital because they need to be monitored for 48 hours,” Somboon told Reuters. It is unclear how this fits with reports from the Thai health official, that parents would be able to visit their sons tonight.

“I’m hoping for good news today,” said Somboon.

The rescue operation to extract the boys from the cave is underway, official reports have confirmed.

Thailand’s interior ministry has said the same divers who went in on Sunday had gone in on Monday. There has been no reports as of yet on the divers progress.

Eighth boy freed from Thai cave as rescue operation continues

Eight boys have been brought out from the cave in northern Thailand where their football team and coach have been trapped for more than two weeks, on the second day of a daring series of rescues that has gripped the world.
Four boys and the coach, Ekkapol Chantawong, are thought to remain in the cave.

As it looks as if the rescue operation is on hold until tomorrow, we’re going to pause the blog for now. We’ll resume blogging if there are any more key developments or press conferences. In the meantime there’s more on Thai cave rescue section including this video update on today’s developments, and there’ll be a new live blog on Tuesday.

A press conference is beginning here in Mae Sai, after the successful retrieval of four boys from Tham Luang Nang Non cave this afternoon. “We are so happy to rescue another four,” says Narongsak Osatanakorn, the head of the joint command centre coordinating the operation.

He says the mission time is getting faster: rescuers have now shaved two hours off their initial estimate for the time it would take to ferry each boy out. The first operation today commenced at 11am and the first boy emerged around 4.30pm, according to some reports. That’s about five-and-a-half hours, much less than the 11 hour round-trip some divers were making to the boys earlier this week.

Rain has bucketed down on Mae Sai all night and continues to fall this morning in torrential quantities.

It is unclear if this downpour on Tuesday will complicate today’s mission. We are talking to sources at the cave site and hope to learn more soon.

---------------------------
The first four boys to be rescued have now seen their parents, and the other four will likely see their parents today, Michael Safi is reporting from the scene.

The reunification was from a distance however - the boys are in hospital and only saw their parents through glass.

Health officials have in the last few minutes provided an update on the state of the boys. The boys are generally health and safe, doctors said, but two are receiving treatment for “minor” lung infections.

It will be at least seven days before they are discharged from hospital.

It's 10:40am Local Time

Michael Safi reports doctors are setting up a phone line so the boys in hospital can speak with their parents.

From the information given by health officials, we are getting a clearer idea of who is out of the cave.

It would appear the youngest child, Chanin Wiboonrunreung, and the coach, Ekaphol Chantawong, are still inside.

Press Conference

Rescue operation started 10am

Despite the heavy rain overnight, conditions in the cave haven’t changed much.

They might try to extract all 5. Divers' call.

“The first day we spent 11 hours, yesterday we spent nine hours, [today] we hope we can do it faster or the same as yesterday.”

“If everything goes right, we will see four kids and a doctor and Seals that have stayed with the kids will all come out,” he said. “Four plus one coach, so it’s five.”
