The Millennium Stadium sign has been taken down ahead of its reincarnation as Principality Stadium

It’s the end of an era in Welsh rugby and the beginning of a new one as the Millennium Stadium sign has been taken down from the iconic venue in readiness for its reincarnation as Principality Stadium.

Come the Six Nations, the Cardiff ground will be known by its new name as part of a 10-year naming rights partnership between the WRU and the Principality Building Society.

The removal of the 5ft x 45ft metallic Millennium sign, which has been a highly visible fixture on the eastern façade of the stadium since 1999, is a symbolic step in that transformation.

The Millennium Stadium was built on HALLOWED GROUND!! .. as far as Wales/Rugby goes.

The site of "Cardiff Arms Park".

It took a while to get over it now being called something daft like "Millennium Stadium".. an even dafter name of a Bulding Society is a "Bridge End" too far IMO :wall

I have never been inside the ground.. but it is a prominent landmark in Cardiff city that I saw from many vantage points when I visited Cardiff. One of the (side) entrances has retained the old (historic) sign "Cardiff Arms Park" I took a photo :cool

It better bloody well stay despite the new daft name!! :stamp

Speaking of Millennium Stadium.... and it being New years and all....

I recall seeing (on TV) in the New year at the start of the Millennium.... at the Millenium Stadium (It opened on time to see in the new era it was named for) with the Welsh band "Manic Street Preachers" playing at Millennium Stadium.

Manic Street Preachers - A Design For Life (Live at the Millennium Stadium - 1999)

I feel your anguish ;) How I felt when Texas Stadium was renamed AT&T Stadium.
I'll remember it as Millennium because of the RWC games. :)

Change .. it's all about the money!

BTW, I like the video/song.
