Courtroom drama: Al Pacino is shown being convicted of murder as he plays Phil Spector in a forthcoming TV film

It is one of the most controversial Hollywood productions in years.

And new stills of controversial new made-for-TV film Phil Spector show Al Pacino, who plays the music mogul, being sent to prison for murdering a B movie actress Lana Clarkson.

The Godfather star wears a massive afro wig in the courtroom scene, and is flanked by Dame Helen Mirren, who is playing his lawyer Linda Kenny Baden.

The 72-year-old is also shown in another scene wearing another of the eccentric music star's famous wigs as he seems to be showing Baden around his spacious mansion in Alhambra, California, where the murder took place.

The film has sparked controversy in Hollywood itself due to the fact it is said to portray the legendary music producer in a sympathetic light, suggesting he may be innocent of the crime.

He killed Lana Clarkson after shooting her in the head, and claimed her death was an 'accidental suicide' and that she 'kissed the gun.

He was convicted of murder in the second degree in 2008, and is serving 19 years in jail.

Campaigner calling themselves the Friends Of Lana Clarkson, who are led by powerful Hollywood agent, Edward Lozzi, have tried to have the film canned, saying the film is ‘an insensitive attempt to portray the loathsome, lying, gun-abusing convicted murderer Spector with some kind of sympathy

Wow looking good.

From what I heard Lana was not one to be intimidated. I could almost see her "kissing the gun" just to show him.

I didn't follow the trial, but I love Helen Mirren (and Al). The performances should be very good.

Michael Corleon was my Avatar pic for a long time at JQ... a head shot and a sitting in chair... sort of like sitting on a throne.

I found it was getting hard to fend off all the women attracted to me.. so I had to remove those avatar pics :9

GREAT posting Packy.. :91

Not only did you follow the the thread of existing discussion, but.......

"Just when we had gone off topic, you pulled as back in!" :12

:80

Al in the Godfather was a bit of a hero for a while, but when Godfather III came out I didn't like the way he looked. I figure he was too old? But more than that he is thinner in the face and looks VERY different?
And ... that continues with Phil Spectre.... but not so important.... I don't expect to have any sympathy for Phil.

By Mark Jefferies , Hugo Daniel

Spector, 74, who produced The Beatles Let It Be is so ill he can no longer talk

Legendary music producer Phil Spector has lost the ability to SPEAK as he wastes away in jail, the Mirror can exclusively reveal.

Spector - who produced some of the 20th century’s greatest pop music including the Beatles seminal album Let It Be – lost the use of his voice NINE months ago and is in a “very dangerous” situation in prison.

And to make matter worse the man know for creating a ‘Wall of sound’ now has a wall of silence in his life.

The 74-year-old was moved from Corcoran prison – famous for housing serial killer Charles Manson - to the California Health Care Facility in Stockton, California, at the end of October last year.

The facility provides health care for some of the state’s sickest inmates.

Well I finally watched the movie.. only THREE YEARS since I posted about the "new movie" :lol

And... I WAS WRONG!!! :eek

I do have sympathy for Phil Spector (as portrayed by Al)

His conviction seems on the face of it, to be based on emotion and the demands from the usual "Lynch Mob" types at True Gossip Forums... the "Justice for Lana" types :roll

The simple and essential notion of Innocent until proven guilty, BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT.... The "Golden thread" that is SUPPOSED to run through British (US) justice system.. seems to once again be out the window :stamp
