Ex-Fleetwood Mac Member Commits Suicide

Image

A former member of the iconic rock band Fleetwood Mac was found dead at his Nashville home today after shooting himself -- this according to Nashville Police.
66-year-old Bob Welch's body was found by his wife around noon. According to police, Bob shot himself in the chest.

Police say Welch -- who had health issues recently -- left a suicide note.

Welch was a guitarist and vocalist for Fleetwood Mac from 1971 to 1974. He formed the British rock group Paris in 1976, and had hits including "Sentimental Lady" and "Ebony Eyes."

I was aware of Fleetwood Mac from their early days... remember their "hits"... but I only became a "fan" when they had a revival in the early 70's after Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined the line-up and put out the "Fleetwodd Mac" album... followed by "Rumours"

I see Welch was a member (1971–74)

Bob Welch – vocals, guitar
Christine McVie – keyboard, vocals
John McVie – bass
Mick Fleetwood – drums

(With one or two others coming and going)

Ex-Fleetwood Mac guitarist Bob Welch’s suicide note: Guitarist vowed not to be medical burden to wife, says friend

When faced with the prospect of being an invalid, he wrote 'I’m not going to do this to you': report

By Ethan Sacks / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Bob Welch may have killed himself for love.

The ailing 65-year-old musician, who was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Thursday, left a suicide note for his wife professing his desire not to be a burden after undergoing spinal surgery three months ago, a friend of the musician told the Tennessean.

“It had become apparent to Bob that he was not going to recover, that he was going to become an invalid,” family friend Bart Herbison, executive director of the National Songwriters Association, told the newspaper.

That's even sadder! I'm sure his loved ones didn't think he was a burden. :97
