Per Wikipedia: O'Toole was nominated eight times for the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, making him the most-nominated actor never to win the award.

In the film Prometheus, the android David watches Lawrence of Arabia and styles his hair like O'Toole's Lawrence and imitates the way he speaks.

The comparison of O'Toole with Richard Burton (my avatar pic) has struck me... I identify to some extent with an outspoken, boozy South Welshman (with an attraction to feisty American women) :)
Burton was only 59 when he died... I have already outlived him. Food for thought :(
