Leslie Merritt Jr. receives several job offers since release from jail
By Judy Rivas | ABC15.com | Apr 20, 2016

PHOENIX - Leslie Merritt Jr. has been out of jail for less than 24 hours and is already receiving job offers.

ABC15 has learned Merritt was offered several jobs since being released from jail on Tuesday night.

Jason Lamm, Merritt’s attorney, said Merritt is very grateful for the job offers and the support he has received from the community.

Lamm said Merritt will go over all of his job offers and pick the best one to get his life back on track to support his family.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said ballistic evidence linked Merritt to four of the eleven freeway shootings during the summer of 2015.

Recently, the County Attorney’s Office called in secondary ballistics professionals to confirm whether Merritt's gun was in fact connected to the shootings, like DPS said in September 2015.

Those additional ballistics tests revealed the original bullet fragments could not be confirmed to be from Merritt's gun.

Since Merritt's arrest, the Department of Public Safety has not asked for the public's help in solving the crimes, even though the other seven are unsolved.

All charges dismissed in freeway shootings case
By ABC15.com | April 25, 2016

PHOENIX - We got him?

Jason Lamm, the attorney for accused freeway shooter Leslie Merritt Jr., announced all charges have formally been dismissed against Merritt.

The tweet by Lamm showed the motion to dismiss all charges officially filed by the Superior Court of Arizona.

The motion reads: “This Court having reviewed and considered the State’s Motion to Dismiss Without Prejudice. filed April 22, 2015, and good cause appearing. IT IS ORDERED dismissing this case without prejudice.”

Merritt will not be under the supervision of pretrial services.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety told ABC15 on Monday: "We are not entertaining any interviews or statements at this time. Please check back with us in the future."

Merritt and his lawyers filed a lawsuit last month against the State of Arizona, Maricopa County, Gov. Doug Ducey and Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery for $10 million in compensation for lost wages, legal fees and emotional stress .

"If you can use the state's evidence against them, that sometimes can be just devastating to a prosecution," said Diaz.
