2 HPD officers shot, killed Tim Doherty and Jason Munz, American Staff Writers 1 a.m. CDT May 10, 2015 Two Hattiesburg police officers died Saturday night after being shot during a traffic stop on East Fourth Street. Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict confirmed that both officers had died at Forrest General Hospital. Benedict identified the officers as Benjamin Deen, 34, of the Sumrall area and Liquori Tate, 25, of Hattiesburg. Hattiesburg Police Department spokesman Lt. 3 arrested in murders of 2 Mississippi police officers during traffic stop FOXNEWS.com | May 10, 2015 Mississippi’s governor says his state is in “mourning” Sunday after the shooting deaths of two police officers Saturday night during a traffic stop in Hattiesburg. Officer Benjamin Deen, 34, had stopped a 2000 Gold Cadillac Escalade in an industrial part of the city at around 8:30 p.m. local time Saturday, said Warren Strain, a spokesman for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. Officer Liquori Tate, 25, arrived afterward to assist him, shots were fired, and both officers were wounded. Strain said both officers died of their injuries at a hospital. The officers’ deaths are reportedly the first for the Hattiesburg police force in 30 years. "This should remind us to thank all law enforcement for their unwavering service to protect and serve. May God keep them all in the hollow of his hand," Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant said. Warren Strain, a spokesman for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, said Marvin Banks, 29, and Joanie Calloway, 22, were each charged with two counts of capital murder. Joanie Calloway, 22, has been charged with two counts of capital murder. Curtis Banks, 26, has been charged with two counts of accessory after the fact of capital murder. Ryan Moore@RyanMooreMS Clark's bond set at $75,000 in connection to the shooting death of 2 HPD officers. #WDAM Calloway's bond set at $75,000 in connection to the shooting death of HPD officers Deen and Tate. Curtis Banks bond set at $100,000 in connection to shooting deaths of HPD officers Deen and Tate. Other bond revoked. Marvin: Other bonds set at 100k for possession of weapon, and 100k for grand larceny auto. Marvin was out on bond when the shooting of the 2 officers occurred. Marvin only one charged with capital murder officially Marvin is charged with 2 counts of capital murder in the shooting death of HPD officers Deen and Tate. Preliminary autopsy shows 1 HPD officer was shot in the face and 1 officer shot in the back. per MBI #PRAY4HPD All 4 suspects have been remanded into custody of the Forrest County Sheriff's department. |

as a Mississippian this hits home, reminds me of my nephew..getting killed Over a TRAFFIC stop..and we wonder why cops handle situations like they do, they never know what the person has or what they will do... Nationalpoliceweek!!! honor them all
