My worker visited us at work today. He's got great command of his wheelchair and is plays wheelchair basketball.

I found out that he was supposed to join some friends and family members who were driving to North Florida to go to a graduation, but instead he went out with other friends to the strip club where he was shot.

It turns out that one of his friends (soon to be a former friend, I hope) in the group has a connection/issues with the shooter. (I'm not sure what, yet, but my coworker knew nothing about what was going on between them and is very angry with this "friend". He never met the shooter or the other 2 young men in the car.) His "friend" was the only one NOT shot, but the shooter was only after the "friend". He also said the others who were shot, were shot low on their bodies, unlike him.

He said when the shooter's car pulled up, he was trapped between it and another car. After the 3 bullets hit him, fell to the ground between the cars. He couldn't move his legs and tried to crawl away.

The police were able to get the license plate number. They have identified all 3 and 2 have been arrested so far.

He has some feeling in his legs, but the muscles are weak and he has to continue training to get them strong enough to support his body so he can stand. He'll be returning to work part-time, probably next week!!

I will get the names of the 3 when he returns, so I/we can follow the court case.

Good news is he was not killed but what a horrible event, Mal.

He visited us at work yesterday!! We all came out to the car he was in. He's in great spirits. He has feeling in his legs and he said that the Doctors told him he might be able to walk again in 2 years, if he keeps working towards it. He also told us that he was shot 3 times. One bullet grazed him, one went through him and the third went through his side and lodged in his spine. He had surgery and they removed the bullet and part of his spine. He said none of the bullets hit any organs or major arteries.

It's still an ongoing investigation, but there's been progress. There's been an arrest of one of the 3 young men (~18 yr olds) in the car, but the shooter is still at large.

Mal, as you can see I gave this a separate thread of its own :cool

That gives you more scope to post news updates, as well as your own inside info :N14

Edit Rumpole
Thread title does NOT confirm that Mal works in a strip club
