One of my coworkers has been a no show since Friday. We just found out today that he was shot early Saturday, while he and his friends were standing outside a strip club. Apparently, a man on foot shot an AK47 at them. He may be paralyzed. :cry He's in surgery now. I'll post a link to the story later.

He's a nice guy, late 20's. They are not allowing anyone to contact him yet. He doesn't know he may be paralyzed (shot in spine).

I kept hearing varying information all morning from my coworkers, his friends, coworkers at his other part time job, etc. It's no wonder each of these news stories about the incident have differing details.

I hope they get him (and the others in the car) and lock him up for the rest of his life. The news said he fired about 24 rounds at them.

He now knows he is paralyzed. My boss spoke with a family member today and they told him that he only has a 1% chance of ever walking again. My boss spoke with him and let him know that when he is ready and able to, he still has a job to come back to. We're going to make him a special desk that his wheelchair can fit under. He was really happy to hear that.

Yes, he surprises me sometimes. His aunt cried when he told her and she wanted her nephew to know it as soon as possible. He was worried about it. My boss and I hope to visit him.

Mal, how awful this is! I volunteered for years at the Inglis House For The Incurables. PRAYING that he is not a Quad ... high up back/neck injury. THAT is horrendous. Being a "para" is bad enough.
I wonder if they can collect money for a REWARD? IF that was a Gang initiation ... it will be tough, unless someone ELSE recognizes the car AND the knows that this guy has an assault weapon.
The Russian who just invented that AK47 just died. He made it for WAR only. NOT made for innocent people in the streets, or at Malls, or at Movie Theaters, or at Elementary Schools, or Colleges! I am both sad and MAD! :59

Mal? I was wondering how your co-worker was doing and if LE had made any strides in capturing the critters that did that to him.

Deb Hi! I have been thinking about him too. Hard to BELIEVE that SOME PEOPLE THINK they OWN our lives, and our bodies. They THINK they can DO whatever they please to it! THAT will always amaze me!!! What arrogance, what gall, what misguided insanity!! They are psychopaths??
Hi Ms. Mal! :86

Hi Joni & Deb! :86

I haven't heard anything yet about the investigation, but I visited co-worker. It made him happy to know that so many people care about him. He's trying to stay positive and doesn't want anyone to be sad for him. He's getting three hours of physical therapy per day and is looking forward to coming back to work in 3-6 months.

Hi Mal! Thanks God for little favors... that he wasn't shot up high, near his neck. THEN arms and legs and lungs would ALL be paralyzed. I volunteered in a Home for about 12 years... knew some quads. I am glad he has use of him arms, can operate a wheel chair, phones, eat himself, and do things with his hands AND WORK!! YESSS!

He visited us at work yesterday!! We all came out to the car he was in. He's in great spirits. He has feeling in his legs and he said that the Doctors told him he might be able to walk again in 2 years, if he keeps working towards it. He also told us that he was shot 3 times. One bullet grazed him, one went through him and the third went through his side and lodged in his spine. He had surgery and they removed the bullet and part of his spine. He said none of the bullets hit any organs or major arteries.

It's still an ongoing investigation, but there's been progress. There's been an arrest of one of the 3 young men (~18 yr olds) in the car, but the shooter is still at large.

Mal, thanks for that! Great news! Prayers are answered. A ray of sunshine in this boy's life. I do know that P.T. (Pain and Torture I call it), can do wonders. Really. I hope he works hard, fiercely hard! That's what it always takes!

Glad he is OK (ish) Mal. :give

I wish him well. Sounds like he can only get better as time goes on.

I am thrilled he has feeling in his legs. BEST NEWS EVER!!! Cyber hugs and smooches to your friend and co-worker. Give your boss a cyber hug from me to for giving him a goal to (go back to) work for.
