EBONY Magazine : Hit With 5 Million Dollar Lawsuit, Over Kendrick Johnson Death Articles
August 27, 2014

The parents of the 2 boys who were accused of playing a role in the death of Kendrick Johnson have filed a federal lawsuit against Ebony Magazine for slander and are demanding 5 million dollars, theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports.

The parents of Brian and Branden Bell filed suit this week against the publishing company for Ebony and writer Frederic Rosen. The docs explain that between April 2013 to April 2014, Ebony published several articles about the death of Kendrick Johnson. Johnson’s body was found on January 11th 2013 at his Georgia high school, rolled-up in a mat at his school gymnasium.

It is about time and more of this kind of thing needs to happen. The BGI needs to be cut off at the knees.

Looks like Crump the chump is hard up for money after the Michael Brown "No bill" decision.

The parents of a Georgia teenager found dead inside a rolled-up gym mat two years ago filed a lawsuit accusing classmates of killing him at school before criminal investigators and school officials covered up the deed.

The wrongful death lawsuit by the family of 17-year-old Kendrick Johnson of Valdosta names 38 defendants, including three Lowndes High School classmates the lawsuit accuses of attacking Johnson on Jan. 10, 2013. The suit was filed in DeKalb County Superior Court on Monday, just after the second anniversary of the teenager's death

Lawyers for the Johnson family, King and Benjamin Crump, did not immediately return phone and email messages Thursday

Hi Londo...

Yeah Crump has been at his most crumpy over this case. I have not followed all details, but I know renewsit is all over the case.

Her latest Blog has pdf of Lawsuit, so I'll provide link. The Blog generally is a great source of info on all aspects of KJ case

Amended Lawsuit filed by Kendrick Johnson Family
Thursday, January 15, 2015

Amended lawsuit filed by the family of Kendrick Johnson last week. If this wasn't so cruel, it might almost be funny. The Johnson's will never see a penny of this, nor will anyone settle with them. If Benjamin Crump and Chevene King come away from this with their law licenses in tact, it will be a miracle.

Kendrick Johnson's parents could face jail time for protest
By Victor Blackwell, CNN
Updated 11:07 AM ET, Sun January 25, 2015

(CNN) Still seeking justice in their son's death, Kendrick Johnson's parents will face the justice system themselves Monday on misdemeanor charges related to a 2013 protest, their attorney said.

Kenneth and Jacquelyn Johnson, along with five family members, each face a charge of interference with government property for allegedly blocking the entrance to the Lowndes County Courthouse in Valdosta, Georgia, and blocking access to the security checkpoint inside the building.

The demonstration was planned after Johnson's parents became frustrated with the lack of information they'd received from local investigators regarding their son, who was found dead inside a rolled gym mat at his South Georgia high school in January 2013, attorney Chevene King said.

Footage published on YouTube shows authorities arresting family members who held hands, blocking a door to the courthouse. Another video posted to a Kendrick Johnson tribute page on Facebook shows family members later, inside the courthouse, joining hands in front of the checkpoint. The family and others can be heard chanting, "No justice, no peace," as officers step in to arrest them.

Well isn't this an interesting statement from the linked article.

"We know who killed him. We just have to prove it," Johnson's mother, Jacquelyn Johnson, told CNN.

Just another Crump and Associates money grab scheme that hopefully will fail. Nothing I like seeing more than Crump losing out.

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Jury selection began Monday in a case against the family of Kendrick Johnson for a protest in which they are accused of illegally blocking the entrance to the courthouse.

Johnson's parents and three other family members were arrested for obstruction on April 25, 2013. Investigators said they blocked access to the courthouse and protested without a permit.

Johnson Family Sentenced For 2013 Protest
By: Winnie Wright
January 28, 2015 5:00pm

Lowndes County, GA - Jackie and Kenneth Johnson as well as five other family members of the late Kendrick Johnson were arrested in April of 2013 for blocking access to government property. Thursday, those seven people who call themselves the "KJ 7" were convicted of civil disobedience.

A 6-man jury handed down a guilty verdict around 2:30 this afternoon, and by 3:00, Judge Mark Mitchell came back with his sentencing.

Judge Mitchell gave the Johnsons a 12 month suspended sentence as long as they don't get arrested for civil disobedience in the next year.

"We're certainly disappointed at the Jury's verdict. We had hoped that the jury would have understood that the Johnson family had no intentions other than to bring attention to the tragic death of Kendrick Johnson," says Johnson family attorney, Chevene King.

King stated he felt as though Judge Mitchell, of Thomasville, was impartial. However, he added that the Johnsons plan to appeal their sentencing.

We also asked the prosecutor for a statement and were told they had no comment.

Latest renewsit blog on the KJ case.....

Did FSU Value their image more than Brian Bell?
Sunday, February 22, 2015

Image

"The more I looked into the case personally and through open records and interviews, I came to the conclusion there's no way he could have been murdered," Rose said. "To accuse the Bell brothers is utter nonsense."

An excellent and in-depth article on the Kendrick Johnson case, written by David Whitley, came out today in the Orlando Sentinel. If you do not have a subscription, you may read the full article on Scribd reprinted with permission from the author.

Highlights from the Orlando Sentinel article (my comments in red):

  • "I was a firm believer Mr. Johnson had met with foul play," Rev. Floyd Rose said. "I thought that from the beginning."
  • Touchton, the head of the local NAACP chapter, asked the U.S. Department of Justice to open a civil rights investigation that is ongoing. She said the Johnsons' legal team asked her to investigate the death. Touchton's findings did not fit the growing narrative.
  • There was no forensic evidence indicating a fight occurred at the gym. But even if you grant that Johnson was murdered and every cop in south Georgia is conspiring to protect the killers, one thing stands out.
  • The Bells have airtight alibis.
  • Witnessess say and video shows Brian Bell was in class across campus at the time Johnson would have been killed. Branden Bell was with the wrestling team on a trip to Macon, 153 miles away.
  • If this ever went to trial, I don't see how the prosecution could refute the testimony of at least 13 witnesses who saw the Bells either in class or on a bus to Macon when Johnson died.

Any law suit... I guess anything with a KJ in it... especially if Crump involved and losing.

I did find that article above... old January news.... but I think it answers my own question.

Bells countersue KJ family
Posted: Saturday, March 7, 2015 6:45 am
BY ADAM FLOYD

VALDOSTA — FBI agent Rick Bell and his two sons have countersued the parents of Kendrick Johnson for defamation, claiming they disparaged the Bells in statements about how Johnson died two years ago.

The litigation is in response to a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Kenneth and Jacquelyn Johnson, contending the Bell sons were involved in KJ’s death at Lowndes High School and that local law officers and school officials covered it up as an accident.

The Johnsons’ suit, filed in DeKalb County, asks for $100 million in damages from 38 defendants. The Bells seek $1 million for comments about them in media statements, news stories and social media posts. They asked that both legal actions be tried in Lowndes County, where all the defendants live and the death occurred.

I am so pleased that the Bell's have filed this countersuit. Crump/Parks have bitten the tail of the wrong tiger.

Hi Carm.

Yes Crump has got away with stuff for too long.

Ridiculous law suits. Blatant lies and distortion of facts presented a public circus type press conferences, and the MSM lapping it all up and reporting it as fact. Firing up lynch Mobs with no concern other than for a financial shake down and "hush money". We have seen the damage this causes to innocent peoples lives and even after they are exonerated by the facts and evidence, the Lynch Mob persists as does Crump. Like a little Wire-haired Terrier dog that keeps humping away at your leg.

Hi Rumpole,

I agree about the Crump/Parks monster but really there is no need to insult little wired-haired leg humping dogs by comparing them to the likes of the despicable Crump/Parks :77

KJ wrongful death suit transferred to Lowndes
Posted: Wednesday, March 11, 2015 12:58 pm

ATLANTA — Dekalb County Superior Court has transferred a lawsuit filed by Kendrick Johnson’s parents to Lowndes County.

Kenneth Johnson and Jacquelyn Johnson filed the wrongful death lawsuit, contending the sons of FBI agent Rick Bell were involved in KJ’s death at Lowndes High School and that local law officers and school officials covered it up as an accident.

The Johnsons’ suit was filed in DeKalb County, asking for $100 million in damages from 38 defendants. The Bells countersued, seeking $1 million for comments about them in media statements, news stories and social media posts. They asked that both legal actions be tried in Lowndes County, where all the defendants live and the death occurred.

Dekalb County Superior Court Judge Alan Harvey signed an order Tuesday, transferring the case to Lowndes County. The Johnsons have 20 days to pay costs associated with Georgia Uniform Transfer Rules or the case will be automatically dismissed, according to the order.

Latest renewsit blog.......

Kendrick Johnson: Bell Family files Answers to $100 Million Lawsuit
Monday, April 6, 2015

The family of Kendrick Johnson filed a $100 Million lawsuit against 38 individuals in Lowndes County, Georgia, three of those being the Bell family of Valdosta. The suit alleges that Richard Bell, FBI agent, commanded his sons to kill Kendrick Johnson. This is after the attorneys for the Johnson family, Chevene King and Benjamin Crump, were made aware of the fact that both boys had air tight alibis when Kendrick Johnson climbed into a wrestling mat to retrieve a shoe and died. The attorneys know full well that social media would quote the lawsuit countless times, earning money and more recognition for the case, so the facts do not matter. Anyone can file a suit against anyone for anything. Lawyers should be held accountable for filing frivolous suits....oh wait, they are sometimes held accountable...Chevene King owes over $90,000 for the last frivolous suit he filed.

The Bells are counter suing and the US Attorney will likely be adversely affected by this sham of a "review" that somehow turned into an "investigation" in the past year. The official cause of Kendrick Johnson's death is an accident. As is the case with most Black Grievance Industry cases, this case has no merit. Attorney Crump is losing favor with the DOJ because of his last high profile case, Michael Brown in Ferguson. The media has seemingly shut him down as well. Hopefully this will be the last time he ruins the lives of innocent people just to make a name for himself.

Wow, that's got to be a new unethical low...

If you look at the US Census demographics for DeKalb vs Lowndes counties, you see why they filed the lawsuit in the wrong venue.

I knew what I'd find before I even checked :N2
