A promising Australian student, who was on a baseball scholarship in the United States, was allegedly gunned down by a gang of teenagers in what has been described as a 'senseless attack'.

Chris Lane was returning from a visit to his girlfriend's in the small town of Duncan in Oklahoma on Friday, when he was shot in the back by three teenagers and left to die in the gutter.

Chief of Duncan Police Department Danny Ford said the baseball fanatic, who was originally from Melbourne, was fired upon 'for the fun of it'.

The 23-year-old was out jogging after visiting his sweetheart Sarah Harper, who lives nearby.

Chief Ford said: 'He went by a residence where these three boys were, they picked him as a target, they went out and got in a vehicle and followed him.

'(They) came up from behind and basically shot him in the back with a small calibre weapon, then sped away.'

Witnesses saw him stumble across the road and collapse in the gutter.

According to police investigators, one of the alleged killers had left a chilling message on Facebook prior to the shooting.

It read: 'Bang. Two drops in two hours.'

The three suspects, aged 15, 16 and 17, have been arrested.

According to Sky News, the 16-year-old allegedly confessed to the killing saying it had been done 'for the fun of it'.

The three are due to face first degree murder charges, which carry a potential death penalty in Oklahoma.

Chief Ford added:'They wanted to be Billy Bob Badasses.

DUNCAN, Oklahoma -

Stephens County prosecutors have charged two teenagers with first-degree murder in the death of an East Central University baseball player.

Chancey Luna, 16, and James Edwards, Jr., 15, are charged with first-degree murder. Police say Luna is the alleged shooter while Edwards was a passenger in the car.

Michael Jones, 17, is charged as a youthful offender and faces one count of accessory to first degree murder. He's also charged with one count of use of a motor vehicle in discharge of weapon.

White House: Obama’s Trayvon Martin comments apply to Christopher Lane

President Obama’s spokesman described the murder of Australian baseball player Christopher Lane in Oklahoma as a “pretty tragic case,” saying that Obama’s comments after the Trayvon Martin case apply to Lane.

“This sounds like a pretty tragic case,” White House Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest replied when told about the murder of Christopher Lane. Earnest said that he hadn’t heard about the murder previously. Police say that the three teenagers who allegedly shot Lane in the back while he was jogging said they did so out of boredom.

The murder has developed into a bit of an international incident, with Australian leaders calling for a boycott of the United States. “People thinking of going to the USA for business or tourists trips should think carefully about it given the statistical fact you are 15 times more likely to be shot dead in the USA than in Australia per capita per million people,” Australian deputy Prime Minister Tim Fischer said, per NBC.

On the 7/11 video, Trayvon was as dark as Edwards till the BGI lightened him up on the infamous T Shirt. Traybots don't know why race is even mentioned with the 15,16 and 17 year old children arrested as the presumed killer and accomplices. Poor Chris Lane. Jesse notes that this kind of thing is "frowned upon". No Jesse, the dog whizzing on the carpet is "frowned upon" while out right murder is a horrendous and sorrowful event in the real world.

Obama didn't say anything about the killing himself.
That was the press secretary improvising an answer after he was pressed by a reporter ( i think from Fox) during the Q&A. So far Fox is the only MSM showing the mug shots of the Trayvonistas.

Only after it was mentioned by some in the media does he say anything. Still no Obama.......or Sharpton.....or NAACP..........or other BGI characters.

Apparently Roland Martin and his ilk are saying there is no comparison between Chris Lane and George Zimmerman/TM because the 3 thugs were arrested right away and George wasn't. Yep, as soon as they got the arrest they wanted, they shut up, let justice work and accepted the verdict. That's why they are still calling for more charges to be levied against George. Based on the one tweet by this thug (hates whites), I think the FBI should be fully investigating this as a hate crime. Anything less should not be acceptable.

And I'm willing to give odds no race hate crime charges will be added. Just as none were tacked on to the three Trayvon clones who beat the crap out of the white kid on the school bus In Florida

Since there seems to be a question of whether or not this was a hate crime, the FBI needs to set up a tip line.

Why does everyone want to attach Trayvon Martin to a murder case?

This is purely a thrill killing (alleged? where the heck is the puking smilie? ) by 3 teens who were bored. The freaking little cowards shot him in the back and drove away.

It has absolutely nothing to do with either George Zimmerman or Trayvon Martin.

Violent assault on innocent "White" guy is exactly the same in both cases. Sadly the result is not so good in this case... the wrong guy got killed. Thank heavens GZ had a gun.

I don't think they killed him JUST for the fun it. I think they targeted and killed him because he was white and then just for the fun of it.

Rumpole I agree with you completely. The lifestyle and culture they were emulating is the same. Interesting, the first thing we heard about Trayvon came on February 27, the day after the shooting. It came from Brandi Green and I don't think she made it up. We may never know how she she knew this or where it originated, but someone does.

"He walked out of the house to go to the store. He was going to the store," she said. "He doesn't know anybody here. He just came down here, so he was bored, so he walked down to the store. He was on his way back home. I'm living down here. He was sitting on the porch and this man killed him."
