Detective testified that according to perp the "weapons" involved in the initial argument were his gun and his wife throwing "towels and mascara"


Prosecutor asked the cop if, in his career investigating approximately 50 homicides....

"How many 'Death by Towel' cases have you investigated?"

"None"

"How about 'Blunt-force Mascara deaths?"

"None"






I did think the defense might have objected to the sarcasm"

Facebook Murder Trial Resumes Amid Traffic Delays

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — The trial of a man dubbed the ‘Facebook killer’ resumed Monday, later than scheduled due to traffic issues.

The lead detective on the case, Jonathan Grossman, was back on the stand Monday for cross examination.

Jurors got a more in depth look at that aftermath of the deadly incident. Prosecutors displayed pictures of Medina to show he did not have defensive wounds. Defense attorneys were expected to counter.

Earlier, jurors had walked into the courtroom about two hours later than scheduled due to bad traffic conditions. As the judge and counsel waited for the jurors to arrived, they addressed housekeeping issues like expert testimony and fees.

Focus On Surveillance Video During Facebook Murder Trial

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Surveillance video was the focus in day 5 of the murder trial of Derek Medina.

For the first time, the jury saw the surveillance video, recorded from a camera in the home Medina and his wife Jennifer Alfonso shared in 2013.

It shows Alfonso walking in and out of the kitchen, several times, washing dishes. Then Medina comes into the kitchen. They have a physical struggle off camera.

Medina heads upstairs while Alfonso stays in the kitchen. He comes back down walks out of the camera’s view and opens fire, shooting her eight times, as residue from the shots flies into the camera lens.

Alfonso’s mother wept while watching her daughter’s final moments on earth. Meantim, Medina kept his head down, staring at his notebook.
