As I have said... my 3 cats get on OK... but LBC is very stand-offish.... not keen on the other two getting too close.

LBC was often attacked by her bother (Ginger)... but rather than the cause, it may have been the RESULT of her behaviour even when young... when another cat gets near she sends out all the wrong signals. Cerys and Ivor are brother and sister... have always been prepared to snuggle up together... though they too will fight at times.

Anyway...... I say all that to explain why I was surprised to see all three snoozing close together just outside... worth a photo... but LBC moved as soon as she heard me open the door. Got a photo, but it looked much better seconds when they were all snoozing.

LBC is Little Black cat.... and she was little and got picked on... now she is MUCH bigger than Cerys.. and MUCH heavier.
She doesn't get "picked on"... she just over reacts when other cats come near.
--------------------------

Ivor just came along to "talk" to me.

His "meow" is hard to describe... he sort of "swallows" the sound.. it sounds quite throaty... it does sound like he is "talking" but in some foreign cat language since I cant make out the words. I am NOT nuts... so I don't think he is actually talking... but cats (and other animals) do obviously meow(make sounds) with some intent to communicate.. with each other and humans. Ivor at times really does sound like he is stringing together quite long passages of sounds.... a bit of speech... or at time its louder and more urgent... like shouting :)
I KNOW what he came up here to get me for... he wanted a few cat biscuits... then when he came back he wanted ME to go lie down so that he could nap with me on the bed. Once settled I can leave him there :)

I can mimic Lilly pretty well. She LOOKS at me when I do. I often wonder WHAT I am saying! :98

I had a Siamese for 18 years that would definitely talk to me. She would especially do it if something happened that she didn't like. She would tell me all about it. She was more like a dog than a cat. She went walking with me and the dogs. I think I've just about come to the conclusion that our pets don't really understand our words. I think they really just read our minds ... and throw their thoughts at us! And we read theirs.

I agree seeing_eye. And, I believe they would love it just the same IF we read the phone book to them, with inflections. :D
Funny, when any different music, (just had one where 2 pianists play the STRINGS on the piano), or good Jazz comes on my computer now, she will JUMP UP and *stand*, and STARE at it! Alert!

She discovered the computer when I started playing BIRD VIDEOS for her. Loves them. Looks all around the tower and the back of the monitor, EVERYWHERE trying to find them? LOL

I was wondering when you took this photo? Was it before the earthquake? Maybe the 3 of them sensed it was coming and decided to stay close together?

It's a thought... but .....NO... it was a couple of days ago.

I did hear about the quake half an hour or so after it happened... and thought about the cats and what they were doing when it was happening....and they were....

They say any pet out there alone - - is equivalent to a 3 year old child. I just can't do that with any of mine. Never did, even before I read that. I know some don't think like me... but that's what makes horse races!! :78

My husband brought her in to get her dog and she saw my dogs. She also saw Chula in a warm blanket in the recliner. She has even more dogs than I do. Next time I will follow my gut feeling.

"Speaking" of cats, my Tiger also talks up a storm. He has many very distinct vocalizations for wanting a treat, playing, wanting to be petted, wanting his bowls to be filled, etc.

Right before I took this pic, he was telling me to empty his litterbox and make it snappy! :84

He's actually a good kitty. He loves being petted (the last few years) and likes playing hide and seek and tag with me (when he's in the mood of course.)

HA HA Tiger looks like he could mean business - IF he wanted to. :TF

I WILL have to listen more closely to Lilly. I just thought they meowed. Sort of new at this. Always had dogs.
I know the sound she makes when I hold her... but THAT is much less now. She knows it's OK now, if I do. :86
