packy :28 HELLO to you!

Starting to see dogs left in cars. I CAN'T STAND IT!!!

I commented to a person going in the store with me about the barking dog.
She said she saw one that crawled out of a window about 3" ... almost reached the ground.
HANGING there. Desperate!!! OMG.

They crack the window ... oh. That will work! Dark colored cars get exceptionally hot!!

I wonder if we should write to our paper's and ask them to do a timely article about that... trying to
save a life ... IN ADVANCE?? :45
Much good can come from groups like this eh?

:19

As I have mentioned... one of my cats, "Ivor" is a tripod.... front left leg amputated after a road accident.

He leads a full and active life, with apparently no restrictions on what a normal cat gets up to.

One small problem was "face washing"... licking a front paw to wipe across his face... since his left leg is missing he had some trouble... I have seen him trying to wipe his left face with a sort of "back-hand" technique. He now seems to have learnt to use his left "knee" (for want of a better term)... and it looks to work well. Spotted him doing it yesterday.. but of course he stopped when I grabbed my camera.

He sits on his haunches, licks his left BACK leg and rubs his face on that.

Best I managed was a photo just after he stopped :24

Alhs Hi! (When you come back). :28 I do pray your baby comes home.
Sometimes someone takes them in ... and they can't come home.

I have always had dogs all my life, all "rescues".

My Lilly is my first cat. What an interesting trip this truly is. I think she is very "doggy". :81
If I get up in the middle of the night, it's LILLY who will follow me, not my Beagle/Basset Lucy! But, dear Lucy
is pretty old now ... I think about 14 or so. Hard to tell when you never really know... only guesses.

Lucy survived major stomach surgery and breast cancer. I found out we have a Surgery Hospital here for animals. My Lucy
went there. So I make more soups, eat more hotdogs... :31 she's WORTH it!! Whatever it takes!

Love reading about ALL your pets... :19

Hi!!

1 800 Pets sent Lilly some cat nip in with my order for flea meds for both girls. What is that and what will that do to her?

She must have had a box for her bed before. Likes boxes! :95 I bought her a bed ...
nice tunnel. Won't use it. Would be great in the winter I think. IF I put the cat nip in there ... will that entice her to go in there?

She has never gone it it yet. Afraid?

Is it ok to ask for help and discuss things like this - here? :47

I've never used cat nip, but my Vet told me that if I can't get my Tiger into his cat carrier, then I should try putting a bit of cat nip in it to attract him to it.

From Fabcats.org:

When exposed to catnip some cats will rub (often with the chin and cheek areas), sniff, lick and eat the plant, sometimes followed by rolling over the plant. Following this contact with the catnip, behavioural changes are often seen. Most commonly reported signs of ‘intoxication' include having a ‘wild' or ‘drunken' appearance, vocalisation, rolling around in ecstasy and showing signs similar to sexual arousal. Affected cats look like they are having a really good time!! The effects usually last for a few minutes. Cats will then not react to catnip for at least an hour. In some cats, aggression can be seen with exposure to catnip. In these cats, it is probably best to avoid giving catnip treats or toys. Not all cats react to catnip.

Hi Joni

Most things are OK (outside of the "battle thread") :61

Cats generally like boxes etc... but they decide :31

Cat nip is a plant ( I have it growing)... some cats (but not all) find it attractive... they will rub their face on it, roll around etc... so it's like a "Drug" Some cats don't seem effected. It is sometimes sewn inside soft toys. If it is fresh leaves? You can crush it and rub it onto a toy or something... see if Lilly reacts.

Does no harm.

I have seen a doco that claims it has a smell similar to Tom cat secretions? So makes girl cats swoon? But...... in my experience both male and female cats can be attracted (or not)

Cats love boxes! She'll also love if you bring home a paper grocery bag to play in. My cat also likes the plastic bags, but he tries to walk through the handles and it gets stuck around him and he freaks out! If he wants to play with one, I cut the handles first and let him curl up inside it!

R and MM what great things!!! Thanks! :84 This morning Lilly was rolling around the floor on her back - looking at me. Acting funny. Maybe she discovered the cat nip I put way back in her tunnel bed? More active...

BTW it is 1 800 PETMEDS that I called and ordered their Flea stuff. (Gave the wrong name). Much cheaper than buying "Revolution" from my Vet.

I have these Flea Traps too with a light - and they seem to work good too. The fleas walk on the "grid"to get near the light, and fall thru - to the very sticky paper underneath.

R you told me vacumming, vacumming, vacumming!! That is very good too! I tie up the trash bag and get it out right away! :18
Fleas are so disgusting!!! Lilly had so many when I got her, and no food or water. OMG. Under good control now. Thanks much.
The cat nip looks dry - like a spice. It is in a little packet.

I am going to save some bags MM and cut off the handles. Thanks for that. SOON Oregon is going to stop using plastic bags. I think that is a good thing - for the planet. I will save all that I can ... now.

Cats are SO different than dogs. They are so funny, inquisitive, entertaining, cute. I had no idea really. I knew there were cat people, and dog people. So I have the best of both worlds now ... one of each. :26

MM oh good. That's what I did. Not sure if it worked. I put it way in the back. Maybe will at the front now. Came as a present from the place I ordered my flea stuff. It looks like gound spice.

GADS poor Lucy. We went food shopping, and I did forget about that catnip in her new tunnel bed. Left them alone ... Wonder what went on when I was gone? :95

Thanks always for your friendship and help... always, all ways. :84

Ha ha how succinct you are! It is much easier to ... ramble. :53
I KNOW THAT. :12
We have to stop meeting like this! lol

My Lilly was an only pet in the home. She and Lucy walk past each other like 2 ships passing in the night... but I think they
like each other. Lilly used to sleep on Lucy's chair - her hassock. Maybe because it's hot now, she has taken to sleeping in her
box on the floor, cooler down there I guess.

I hoped they would really "bond". Lucy/Beagle is old now and I think lived with a cat before I got her. Someone almost bred her to death ... was about 3 or 4. She is very west coast - laid back really - but from the east coast. I guess I should be grateful for small favors. They do trust each other and it IS peaceful here.

Yes! People will start talking! :84

(I ramble in real life.)

I usually keep my dog and cat separate, but when I don't...sometimes they play with each other (it's so adorable when they do) and sometimes they just annoy each other!

:81 :8

And they get a little jealous of each other!
