Oh how sad. It does break your heart. But glad a vet is out there to at least help those who need out of their pain.

Damn weather and more bad stuff coming.

Speaking of hawks, I saw a gorgeous one on top of our office building this week. I usually don't get such a good look because when I see them while I'm walking my Maltese, it watches her far too intently for comfort.

Big cat has Detroit neighborhood on edge
Niraj Warikoo, Detroit Free Press 6:30 p.m. EDT August 24, 2013

A Humane Society officials said it's unclear whether the cat is feral or domesticated and what breed it is.

DETROIT -- Ambling down the block a couple of weeks ago with his 1-year-old daughter perched on his shoulders, Antwaun Asberry sensed something was behind him.

He turned around and spotted a tall creature that appeared to be a cat, only a lot bigger.

"His tail is longer than my arm," Asberry, a 6-foot-5 Detroiter with a lanky build, said of the cat. "I was like, what the (expletive) ... I don't know what it is. I just want it gone."

So do other residents in the northeast Detroit neighborhood, who said they're unnerved by this supersize cat roaming the streets in recent weeks. They've tried calling Detroit police and Animal Control, but have gotten no response. On Friday, the Michigan Humane Society said it will investigate the case and try to find the cat.

"We're going to put some effort into this," said Nancy Gunnigle, a director with the Humane Society. Cats this size, she said, are "not easy to catch."

These are prized and very expensive, some going for 25K. They look all kinds of cute but from what I read about them, they cannot be trusted and should be sold to people with extensive experience with cats. They are very much half feral even when living within a family. It is the Serval in them that makes them dangerous.

My guess, someone bought a show cat because of the status of owning one then either couldn't afford its upkeep, found out that the cat is dangerous, and put it out on the streets to fend for itself instead of trying to place it so that it would be safe from harm.

People are a**holes when it comes to "beloved pets"

I am a cat person, but I have an adorable doggie neighbor I want to introduce you all to. She is a 3-legged therapy dog and has her own Facebook page. She needs a few more to reach 3,000 likes. If you take a look at her page I think you will love her, too (even though she is a dog). Her "mom" is quite clever.

I think you'll "like" her!

Nah.... it's still a "Dog" :cool :)

But It's great to see it looking so well... on 3 legs. My cat Ivor is a tripod.

Awww, she's cute for a dog, though, isn't she?

I don't have a photo account to post a photo of my kitty, but maybe I'll get one so you can see my sweet "alley" cat, Weezie. :6

We do have a separate thread for our own pets. My boy Ivor is there.

Love see picks of your kitty. You should get some sort of FREE photo account. In the mean time you could email me the odd pic... then post about your cat and I can insert the pics :)

rumpole@randomtopics.org

OR...... if you have fb and pics there... you can use that as pic location... the same as if you had a photobucket.

Kittens shut down New York subway
Posted: August 31, 2013

Two adorable kittens were responsible for shutting down part of New York City’s subway system in Brooklyn on Thursday. The mini felines were spotted frolicking on the tracks near Church Avenue around 11 am local time. Their presence near the subway’s deadly third rail caused service in the area to shut down for about two hours as rail workers and passengers tried to corral them. But if you have any experience with kittens, you already know how the story goes. The New York Daily News notes that a transit supervisor attempted to corral the kittens. Unfortunately, the adorable fuzzy creatures were too fast for him. Sandra Polel, 52, was a passenger on one of the trains that was delayed by the attempted feline rescue. But she wasn’t too upset by the situation. Polel explained, “The announcer said it had to stop to rescue some cats. I don’t mind. I wanted to get home, but I also wanted the kittens to be safe.” Local service resumed two hours later without the kittens’ rescue. Train crews were told to “proceed through the area with caution” and the curious felines avoided the third rail, which carries 600 volts of electricity.

:95 At least they are small enough to fit under the tracks! I hope they can sense a difference in the third rail and stay away from it.

Dolphin Shows Gratitude to the Fishermen Who Rescued It
Trending Now Videos
By Mia Fitzharris

A group of fisherman off the coast of São Paolo, Brazil, had their Nov. 15 fishing trip transformed into a rescue mission for one adorable creature of the sea. In a dramatic video uploaded to YouTube, the fishermen spot a young dolphin caught in a plastic bag. The anglers use a net to pull the calf onto their boat to help it out. After a few tries, they are finally able to free the dolphin from the plastic bag.

Once the dolphin is released back into the ocean, it appears to jump out of the water for joy, which many people on the Web think was its way of thanking the fishermen

In another video that has people thinking that dolphins try to communicate with humans, a dolphin entangled in fishing wire approaches a diver in what some think is a sign that it is asking for help:

They have had Sunny for a while. They got her 8/19/2013. Of course there was a pissing contest because they didn't get a shelter dog.

Really, GOP?

I just saw the new dog yesterday on TV when she knocked a little girl down. I haven't been keeping up. I think a little training is in order, eh???
