For those who may not be aware.

The UK system has a fuse inside each electrical plug... you need to unplug to remove the "back" of the plug to replace a blown fuse. In that picture somebody has decided to use scissors to replace a blown fuse.
Bear in mind... in UK electricity is 240Volts.

In NZ we also have 240 volts.. but not fuses within plugs.

However, my own father (RIP) managed to do something equally dangerous.... he made up his own electrical extension cord.. just a foot or so long, for use in the kitchen... it hung down in front of kitchen cupboards.
I guess he did not have the socket for the one end...so he used a "Tapon" (piggy-back) plug..... which made for a lethal lead with 240 volt PINS at both ends :13

I got a large "belt" of it when I brushed past it.... I pointed out it was the right height for a child (great granddaughter) to touch and DIE!!!

Normal Extension lead...........................................LETHAL LEAD

Oh...I could never picture it when you said 240 volts...but now with those pictures, I understand. My oven has one of those plugs and I think the dryer does also!

When I was a child, I got shocked a couple times by touching a frayed vacuum cleaner cord while it was plugged in. :13 I can still remember what it felt like...yikes! Can't image what 240 volts would have done to me!
