Kate Bush praises 'brilliant' Olympic closing ceremony

A remix of the singer's track 'Running Up That Hill' featured as part of last night's finale

Kate Bush has praised the organisers of the Olympic closing ceremony, after a remix of 'Running Up That Hill' was used in last night's finale.

The track prematurely appeared on Amazon last week, sparking rumours that the reclusive singer was going to make a rare live performance. The track was subsequently taken down, before being officially released after last night's (August 12) event.

Posting on KateBush.com, Bush wrote: "I hope you all enjoyed the remix of Running Up That Hill this evening at the Olympics Closing Ceremony. They certainly put on a brilliant show."

The remix of 'Running Up That Hill' featured last night as a group of dancers built a pyramid out of white boxes while highlights of the Games were shown through the stadium.

Kate Bush to release new ‘Running Up That Hill’ remix at close of London Olympics

Image

Amid rumors that the stage-shy singer somehow will participate in Sunday’s London Olympics closing ceremony, Kate Bush apparently is set to release a new remix of her best-known hit, “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God).” A listing for a 2012 remix of the song was up on Amazon.co.uk as late as last night, although it’s now been removed.

The track — featuring the artwork shown above — was listed for release on Aug. 12, the date of the closing ceremony, which has been dubbed ”A Symphony of British Music.” The show reportedly will feature performances by Muse and One Direction, and is rumored to include appearances by The Who, George Michael and the reunited Spice Girls.

The closing ceremony will be followed Sunday night by a giant outdoor concert in London’s Hyde Park featuring Blur, The Specials and New Order.
