I saw part of an ad for this, but I thought it was a remake or a prequel of the original movie. Didn't realize it was a series. Let us know if it's any good. I probably can watch it later in the week if it's available "On Demand". (Tonight I have to catch up on the Jodi Arias trial.)

I will let you know. Tonight is Dallas, Bates Motel and Monday Mornings. We are also having violent thunderstorms. I am so glad I am off work!

So far, I can CLEARLY see why Norman turned all crazy nuts. Mommy Norma is a FREAK!

Her freak flag is flying HIGH :18 .

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but ALWAYS make sure you have a spare bathroom with a tub big enough for a body, and a toilet that "just needs a jiggle" from the sheriff....

Finally saw the first episode. Lots of good actors in the show. It was really good and creepy like you said! You can already see him starting to become the Norman Bates we know. We also can see where he picked up his knife skills! :eek Going to watch episode two later today.

Anyone see episode 2 yet? Interesting place they've moved to! I think they'll fit in well. Can't wait for episode 3 on Monday!

I'm currently watching the first airing of episode 3...

Norman is metamorphosizing into the psycho we all know and love (?) right before our eyes. It's quite disturbing...

But, what a great show!

I think we are going to find out later that his "mommy issues" stem from her molesting him after she killed his father. It is really getting interesting!

I'm wondering if Norma Bates or Norman killed his daddy. (See the spoiler for my reasoning.)

Only click on this if you've seen episode 3:

Spoiler:
At first I thought that we're going to find out that she's abusing him, but then I noticed that Norma has 2 personalities. One nice and one harsh. The harsh one was shown to be Norman's imagination/delusion in last night's episode. I'm now wondering if her meaner personality is just Norman's delusions in episodes one and two, because at other times she doesn't seem like a very horrible person, IMO. And I'm wondering if Norma actually killed her attacker or if Norman did and he's deluding himself that Norma did it.

I'm also assuming that the Chinese girl in the basement is just a delusion, too.

Then again, this theory could just be my imagination! :Gslap

After last night's episode, I'll need to watch the first two episodes again.

I was just searching the internet, looking for reviews/recaps of the show, to see if anyone else had similar questions about the happenings on the show and found out that Carlton Cuse is the showrunner of Bates Motel. No wonder I love it so!! (I was a huge fan of "Lost".)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Carlton Cuse (born 22 March 1959) is an American screenwriter and producer, most famous as executive producer and screenwriter for the American television series Lost for which he made the Time Magazine list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2010. Cuse is also considered a pioneer in transmedia storytelling.

But don't worry! He says there will be no smoke monsters or polar bears in this show. :84 Time travel, however.... :eek

CraveOnline has very good recaps & analysis of the show at this link: http://www.craveonline.com/tag/bates-motel

I started watching it then forgot to keep up. Liked it a lot and wondered too if he had killed his father. I somehow cannot keep up with continued series. Started watching Revenge too and kept up pretty good but then gave up that one too.

I've got to revise my theory.

Norma's nuts! She's also way to close to Norman. Ick.

Norman's nuts.

Looks like everyone in town is nuts! Image

But it's a great show.

Molly you have to start watching again :smoke this last Monday's episode was the best one yet, Norman is going off the rails to the point that they are going to have to write an intervention in or this will be the last season. One of these times I'll have to count how many times Norman stays "Mother" :Gslap It is very clever writing, at one point Emma (office help and Norman's current love interest) is giving a customer the password for the motel's wifi and she says it is "MOTHER" all caps, :Gslap . it is little touches like that that I love.

My favorite character is Norma :77 loony as a nutter bin and fiercer than a momma bear.
