New Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi, who takes over from Matt Smith at Christmas, still hasn’t chosen the Doctor’s outfit yet despite filming starting in January.

Thanks, Deb :give

I think the Google doodle is gone, though.. these google things often frustrate by not being available in all countries.

I think I saw a link on the weekend... but never clicked on it :(

The good news is.....

NZ gets the new Dr Who series just a day after UK
(Latest/Next UK TV Air Date: Saturday, 15 April 2017 at 7:20 pm )

In NZ it starts tomorrow (April 17th) :)

And... as lead in... They just aired a repeat of the last Christmas special, which is always a lead into a new series. The Special established "Nardole" as a new male companion who will also feature along with a standard female companion (albeit a black woman) in series 10

From Wikepedia - Dr Who Series 10
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Who_(series_10)

Quote:
Preceded by a Christmas special in December 2016, "The Return of Doctor Mysterio", the series is the third and final series starring Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, the most recent incarnation of the Doctor, an alien Time Lord who travels through time and space in his TARDIS, which appears to be a British police box on the outside. In January 2017, Peter Capaldi announced he would be stepping down from the role after the tenth series. The series will introduce Pearl Mackie as Bill Potts, the Doctor's newest travelling companion, and will also feature Matt Lucas as Nardole, who appeared in the two previous Christmas specials.

Image

Kinda covering all PC bases with TWO companions, on e male one female... an openly gay (actor) companion AND a black female companion :roll

ETA
The 1st episode was OK ish (I wont post spoilers)
From now on in NZ it's been moved back a day to be "same day as UK"
(They seem to mean that we see it 7:30 pm on a Sunday, UK see it 7:20 pm Saturday, at which time it is Sunday 6:20 AM in NZ...so we actually see it aprox 13 hours after UK. The "Same day" is true since in NZ times it airs in UK our Sunday morning, and airs in NZ our Sunday evening)
You probably need to be a Time Lord to follow all that :cool

The Next NEW Dr

The "Welsh Revival" of Dr Who after it had been off air for several years was GREAT!!

Quote:
It originally ran from 1963 to 1989. The programme was relaunched in 2005, and since then has been produced in-house by BBC Wales in Cardiff

However... I have been getting increasing concerned with the liberal themes that have been introduced

SJWs seem to have infested the show's executive staff/writers.... with trendy PC themes sneaking in to scripts and the general set-up

I have noted before instances of the prevailing TRUMP DERANGEMENT (from UK people who know NOTHING about US politics really).. gratuitous comments which demonstate total ignorance.

I do often joke that the "Welsh guys" running the Dr Who show are drunk or on drugs, especially the writers, but I don't really believe that. It's MUCH more serious!! It's PANDERING to the loony left/liberal/globalist (communist) group-think that has taken over Europe.

Anyway... the LAST STRAW is (as if introducing gratuitous LGBT themes, and revisionist Black inclusion in history was not bad enough).... the next Dr will be........... A FRIGGIN' WOMAN!!!!!!! :doh

They were already PUSHING IT when "The Master" (who has been killed off several times but keeps popping up) turned up yet again as... A WOMAN
How the hell can a MASTER be a woman?
Hints of Transgender propaganda themes in that quirk of the show)

And... It just keeps getting WORSE!!!!....

Jodie Whittaker

The female actress playing the part of the new woman Dr Who, played a HORRIBLE character in the "Broadchurch" series(es).... I could not STAND the character, or the woman actress playing the part. I got the feeling that the real life actress was a "type" who did not have to actually act much to play a horrible SJW type character in those shows.
Here she is as the new SJW Female Dr Who :wall

Dr Who... the travesty continues... Season 12 is airing now.Part 1 of a two part

Doctor Who (series 12)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Who_(series_12)

Quote:
The twelfth series of the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who premiered on 1 January 2020 and is set to air through to March 2020. The series is the second to be led by Chris Chibnall as head writer and executive producer, alongside executive producer Matt Strevens. This series is the twelfth to air following the programme's revival in 2005, and is the thirty-eighth season overall. The twelfth series is set to be broadcast on Sundays, bar the premiere episode, continuing on from the eleventh series, after regular episodes of the revived era have previously been broadcast on Saturdays.

Jodie Whittaker returns for her second series as the Thirteenth Doctor, the most recent incarnation of the Doctor, an alien Time Lord who travels through time and space in the TARDIS, which appears to be a British police box on the outside. The series also stars Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill as the Doctor's travelling companions, Graham O'Brien, Ryan Sinclair and Yasmin Khan, respectively.

The ten episodes were directed by Jamie Magnus Stone, Lee Haven Jones, Nida Manzoor and Emma Sullivan. Alongside Chibnall, who wrote four scripts for the twelfth series, the writers include Ed Hime, Pete McTighe and Vinay Patel, who return from writing for the previous series, as well as new contributors Nina Métivier, Maxine Alderton and Charlene James. Filming for the series commenced in January 2019 and concluded by November of that year. The series will be succeeded by a special episode.

I watched a (legit) on demand version... 59 minutes duration.

But... I see promo info claiming the first 2 episodes are 90 min duration?

The BBC site references episode reply at 59 minutes also??

-----------------
ETA
Because I hate a mystery... I watched the 90 min TV telecast of the 59 min episode I watched online... and it's THE SAME.
The extra half an hour is ALL ADS!!!
The 59 min version I watched had a few short breaks to promo the channel... so it was likely only a bit over 50 mins of the actual show?

So.. to watch a 50 min show we are forced to endure 40 mins of ads on top of that time. :wall

Maybe for a "Premier" they knew they could get away with "extra ads"? But I think NZ DOES have an excessive amount of ads.. so maybe this is just normal amount? I don't watch a lot of TV, but I do recall that there were COMPLAINTS that NZ TV were cutting bits out of shows... just to fit the ads in :eek

PETITION (by Brian of London).....

BBC! FIX DOCTOR WHO NOW! Either change it or end it, but this cant go on! SHARE #YesWeCan

Image

Quote:
It is no use you telling us the show is not political when its every pore now oozes politics, not as a theme or tone to explore an issue from multiple viewpoints, but as a club to beat the audience over the head, nor can you tell its joyful when it is joyless, nor fun when it is miserable, nor exciting when its dull.

Clearly, we are at a crisis point.

Just yesterday, fresh from insulting John Hurt’s portrayal of the Doctor for reasons we can barely understand, Jodie took it upon herself to spin to Entertainment Weekly that she has been hired for another quarter of a million pounds to drag the show even further down next year.

Where is the showrunner?

Since when does the lead of a show rehire herself?

And does she really think we are going to just accept that when the ratings are now on the floor and still dropping, or the continued disrespect from the BBC, thats done nothing to support or protect this fanbase, while Twitter accounts connected to the production office have led horrible vile online cyber bullying against true long term fans of the show, even driving some to contemplate suicide?

WE SAY NO

We will NOT go along with this. You have mismanaged and been negligent and brought the worlds greatest long running sci fi franchise to its knees, now a subject of public ridicule and contempt.
