Also, we're just a couple of weeks from The Desolation of Smaug.

Can't wait.

I had to google that. I see it is part of the Hobbit thing. I really must watch all that stuff one day... especially because of the Peter Jackson/NZ connection.

Lord of the Rings trilogy is fantastic... IMHO The Hobbit isn't as good (I miss Frodo and Samwise!!!), but I'm hoping Smaug is better. Image

I love the Hobbit. If it wasn't for the Hobbit there would be no LotR.

I still wonder how they're going to fit Legolas in, but I am good with his appearance.

The payback scene in this movie was very intense...but worth it :87

"Payback" (Revenge) usually makes for a good movie :)

I saw some clips of Smaug last night during The Walking (and Talking) Dead. Looks fantastic. I decided to buy The Hobbit on dvd... gonna give it a second (and third, etc.) chance to grow on me.

Benedict Cumberbach did an excellent job in Star Trek into Darkness, his voice is excellent for Smaug.

So..47 Ronin looks interesting.

Have not gotten to the theater yet which means between now and Christmas I will have to see 3 movies: The Hobbit, Anchorman 2, and the above mentioned Keanu Reeves flick.

I just watched "Slumdog Millionaire".... again :)

Great Movie... sort of a surprise

From Wikepedia

Quote:
Slumdog Millionaire is a 2008 British drama film directed by Danny Boyle, written by Simon Beaufoy, and co-directed in India by Loveleen Tandan. It is an adaptation of the novel Q & A (2005) by Indian author and diplomat Vikas Swarup. Set and filmed in India, the film tells the story of Jamal Malik, a young man from the Juhu slums of Mumbai who appears on the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (Kaun Banega Crorepati in the Hindi version) and exceeds people's expectations, thereby arousing the suspicions of cheating; Jamal recounts in flashback how he knows the answer to each question, each one linked to a key event in his life.

After its world premiere at Telluride Film Festival and later screenings at the Toronto International Film Festival and the London Film Festival, Slumdog Millionaire had a nationwide grand release in the United Kingdom on 9 January 2009 and in the United States on 23 January 2009. It premiered in Mumbai on 22 January 2009.

A sleeper hit, Slumdog Millionaire was widely acclaimed, being praised for its plot, soundtrack and directing. In addition, it was nominated for 10 Academy Awards in 2009, winning eight, the most for any film of 2008, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. It also won seven BAFTA Awards (including Best Film), five Critics' Choice Awards, and four Golden Globes.

I actually have an aquired taste for "Bollywood" song and dance type films... but this was NOT one of those... it's a drama, a Romance of sorts. :give
I guess they couldn't resist a little "Bollywood" touch at the end.... it closes with the cast doing a song and dance number... "Jai Ho "

Slumdog Millionaire - Jai Ho

Need a favor, since you guys are good at finding films on sites other than Youtube.

Need a link for Unforgiven (2013)

Yes, 2013..it's a remake of the Clint Eastwood film starring Ken Watanabe in the "William Munny" role. I hear it's excellent and I cannot find a stream of it anywhere.

Who knew? :)

2013 Japanese remake..... the Clint Eastwood one is no bother... already posted a link to that.

For the 2013.....I tried places that have worked for other movies... and no luck.

Very recent movies are less likely to be available.

I also tried a google search.... lots of sites but all ended in requirements to register or update .. and I know they all end in tears.

Lol yeah, well we've been remaking their movies for years. Hell, Clint Eastwood probably wouldn't have a career if it wasn't for Yojimbo.

Asian cinema has been really stepping up their game lately.

Except that Indian Star Trek spoof I watched a couple of weeks ago. God that was awful.

I haven't read this thread yet so I don't know if it has been mentioned but one of my all time favorite movies is Kes, if you are not from the UK I recommend getting a version that has subtitles as the Northern English accent is so thick and (as an American) I found it very difficult to understand.

Beautiful film though :)

Thanks, Carmelita... I am always on the look out for movies... I don't mind paying for DVD's... but I find many movies are available online... if you look hard enough.
I can cope with accents... quite like "Oop north" (Geordie) accents.

If I find the movie I will post a link in the thread

Full Movies available on YouTube - LINKS (No discussion)

(Most links lately have been NOT Youtube, but rather to sites with a link to stream movie.)

I am going to try to find this one, “Lemon Tree”it sounds intriguing.

Saw all the Swedish Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, enjoyed the first one a lot, I wasn’t too fond of the one where she was buried as it was just too over the top, IMO.

I’m afraid to see Gravity as I get motion sickness.

And as for funny See Spot Run, it is probably catered toward adolescent boys but I laugh myself silly every time I see it.

And another all time favorite, There Will Be Blood.

:)

Rumpole if you do watch Kes you will have to tell me if you can understand their accents, there is also a book which the film was based on A Kestrel for a Knave.

Great book.

I found Kes... and posted a link ... it IS on YT.

I will watch... but not right now.

One of my all time fave TV series is "Auf Wiedersehen, Pet"... comedy about a group of Geordie lads working in Germany... try that for accents... especially "Oz"

I thought I had posted links to "Auf Wiedersehen, Pet"... but I cant find it... I'll do it now... in the TV department
