From Around the Bend

"You’re kind of a tense person.”

“You called me tense.”

“You called me thief”

“You are a thief”

“You were tense.”

“You still are.”

THX Carm.. I'll have to watch :)

Scene: Kissing in the Rain (1961) HD

The YT title misses the POINT of this famous scene IMO :roll

It had a huge emotional effect on me as a child (young teen?).. seeing it the first time (and every time I have seen it subsequently)..... but not the mushy romance big kiss to end the movie ( where they look to be squashing the poor cat between them)... the important thing is finding "Cat" the ginger cat who was LOST.. the daft cow had tossed him out of a cab .. IN THE RAIN... She had least had a pang of remorse for her evil deed, and went to find Cat....such a relief to find he was OK as the movie ended :cat

One of the most emotion provoking scenes in Movies.. I cried the first time I saw the movie.. and did again years later as an adult... Great cat.. daft characters in the movie otherwise.

Far From The Madding Crowd - Short Clip.

Alan Bates is a favourite actor. Great portrayal of Gabriel Oak.

And a favourite quote:

Gabriel Oak: "At home by the fire, whenever I look up, there you will be. And whenever you look up, there I shall be."

From Thomas Gray's "Elergy Written in a Country Churchyard"
    Far from the madding crowd's ignoble strife
    Their sober wishes never learn'd to stray;
    Along the cool sequester'd vale of life
    They kept the noiseless tenor of their way.

The Taming of The Shrew - Katharina's Final Monologue

Thy husband is thy lord, thy life, thy keeper,
Thy head, thy sovereign; one that cares for thee
And for thy maintenance; commits his body
To painful labor both by sea and land,
To watch the night in storms, the day in cold,
Whilst thou li'st warm at home, secure and safe;
And craves no other tribute at thy hands
But love, fair looks, and true obedience--
Too little payment for so great a debt.
Such duty as the subject owes the prince,
Even such a woman oweth to her husband;
And when she is froward, peevish, sullen, sour,
And not obedient to his honest will,
What is she but a foul contending rebel
And graceless traitor to her loving lord?
I am ashamed that women are so simple
To offer war where they should kneel for peace,
Or seek for rule, supremacy, and sway,
Whey they are bound to serve, love, and obey.
Why are our bodies soft and weak and smooth,
Unapt to toil and trouble in the world,
But that our soft conditions and our hearts
Should well agree with our external parts?
Come, come, you froward and unable worms,

LOL, still makes me laugh. I think I've seen this movie more than any other. We used to walk around at work throwing out quotes. People actually thought my name was Shirley. The movie was made at the right time. :)
