CHARITY PROJECT: Marmite jars for a Christchurch Christmas fundraiser A Beautiful Struggle being
photographed by Chris Sisarich.

An unlikely casualty of the Canterbury earthquakes is being used to aid the people most affected.

High-profile Auckland photographer Chris Sisarich has captured images of the dregs of some of the country's last Marmite jars to raise funds for earthquake-hit Cantabrians.

The Sanitarum factory in Christchurch was closed last November due to earthquake damage and since then Marmite has had to be rationed.

Empty jars from 19 celebrities including Rachel Hunter, Marc Ellis, Annah Mac and Graham Henry were snapped for the project called "A Beautiful Struggle".

Sisarich said it fascinated him that something like Marmite "which is part of the daily routine for many Kiwis, has been elevated to the realm of artwork since the shortage".

"I hope that other Kiwis are taking a moment to reflect on the difficulties of the past two years for Christchurch as they reach the bottom of their jars.

"The imagery inside each jar is extremely distinctive; it's more than just an empty Marmite jar. It's evident that everyone has been scraping at the bottom to get every last bit out - I know I have."

The original photographs with signed lids go to auction via http://www.abeautifulstruggle.co.nz from Friday, ending Sunday December 9.

The limited edition poster prints are now selling on TradeMe with all proceeds going to Rebuild Christchurch Foundation for Project Christmas.

THAT......is quite an important question.. amongst us people living in the antipodes (Australia and NZ)

Some say they are identical and you can't tell the difference. It is further claimed that people who SAY they can tell the difference between Vegemite and Marmite are..... "Wankers"

"Wanker" is not a good thing to be, or even to be called, in the Antipodes :12

Even so... the debate rages on.......

There is even a joke about it :61

But.......

***WARNING - NSFW***

An Australian woman consulted her doctor because at the age of 22 she had still shown no sign of growing any pubic hair!!

After a very thorough examination, the doctor conceded he had never seen a case like this, but he had a theory he would like to try.

Having been embarrassed for years the woman readily agreed to try “Anything”

The doctor’s advice was somewhat unusual: “I want you to rub Marmite into just the RIGHT side of your Vejayjay every night for a week and report back”

The woman did exactly as instructed and was elated when she reported back to the doctor and was able to proudly display a dense “Bush” on the right side of her Vejayjay.

“Great” the doctor said, “You can stop that treatment now. Next I want you to rub Vegemite into the LEFT side of your Vejayjay, every night for a week.

The woman of course did this.

After the second week she had a most splendid pubic cover on both sides. Both she and the doctor were elated.

However the woman wanted an explanation of the “unusual treatment” and what exactly the doctor’s theory was:

“Simple” said the doctor.

“ My theory is that no cunt can tell the difference between Vegemite and Marmite
