Future Legend - David Bowie

And in the death
As the last few corpses lay rotting on the slimy thoroughfare
The shutters lifted in inches in temperance building
High on Poacher's Hill
And red mutant eyes gaze down on Hunger City
No more big wheels

Fleas the size of rats sucked on rats the size of cats
And ten thousand peoploids split into small tribes
Coveting the highest of the sterile skyscrapers
Like packs of dogs assaulting the glass fronts of Love-Me Avenue
Ripping and rewrapping mink and shiny silver fox, now legwarmers
Family badge of sapphire and cracked emerald
Any day now
the year of the diamond dogs
this ain't rock and roll this is genocide

Runaway -Del Shannon is a song I remember as a fave, when it first came out.. I googled to see that was 1961 (when I was 9/10) :eek

Besides hearing it on the (valve) radio... I remember it played loud at amusement parks (like Luna Park in Sydney)... typically at "Dodgem car" rides (I guess you call them "Bumper cars" in USA)?

I remember it well. I think my older sisters played it a lot. Yes they are called bumper cars here. I couldn't tell you a single song they played when I went to the amusement park or roller rink at that age, amazing memory recall Rumpole. :)

Great solo in this one, or whatever you call it.
So much about "love" in songs of our generation.
I couldn't even tell you what songs are about in this generation or the past 10 years (except Stereophonics).
