History of the Eagles is a 2013 two-part authorized documentary about the career of the American rock group the Eagles, directed by Alison Ellwood and co-produced by Alex Gibney. After screening at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival in January, it aired on Showtime in February, and was released in April on DVD and Blu-ray Disc with a third disc containing eight songs from the band's performance at the Capital Centre in March 1977. A concert tour of the same name took place from 2013-2015, visiting North America, Europe, and Oceania.

At the 65th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, the film received the award for Outstanding Sound Mixing for Nonfiction Programming. It was also nominated for Outstanding Sound Editing for Nonfiction Programming (Single or Multi-Camera).

The Super Deluxe Limited Edition Box Set received a Bronze Prize at the 2013 Key Art Awards.

Thanks for posting this, Rumpole.

I am watching it now. Fascinating story.

I love seeing the old footage of "back then".

Their songs have more meaning now. :)

Watched a vid a few days ago with Deacon Frey singing at a recent Eagles performance in Cali. I'm excited about their tour. I adore Vince Gill and would love to see them in this tour.

Eagles Announce New 2017 Tour Dates
By Jeff Giles | Ultimate Classic Rock | August 14, 2017

Reinvigorated with an expanded lineup following the passing of co-founder Glenn Frey, the Eagles have started building out a new tour calendar in the wake of their sets at the Classic East and West festivals.

As previously reported, Frey’s son Deacon is now part of the lineup, which has also been joined by veteran country artist Vince Gill. Judging by the way the band’s now being billed — “Don Henley, Joe Walsh & Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey” — it seems likely that neither Gill nor the younger Frey are fully tenured members, and are instead being hired for however long this iteration of the Eagles lasts.

In the short term, that adds up to a tour that’s being dubbed “An Evening with the Eagles,” which begins Oct. 17 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Three days later, the band moves on to Atlanta; further dates follow in Louisville and Detroit. A complete list of currently announced concerts follows below.
