Thanks, Rumpole. :) Just finished watching it. I didn't like the people doing his songs at first, but they grew on me. A very talented bunch. Loved all the stories -- and always like hearing Cohen's own stories. Maybe I forgot, but I didn't know he was in such a dark place in his life during his time with Spector.

I'm Your Man, Waiting For A Miracle, and The Guests ... are my favorites. ;)

My reputation as a lady's man was a joke.
It caused me to laugh bitterly through the ten-thousand nights I spent alone.

This was a surprise to hear. Hoping it's an understatement.

HAHA! I did have the songs as background and would click back to watch him, Edge and Bono talking. That made a big difference. And the guy that told the story about him feeding the bird in his underwear, then coming back out later in an Armani suit ... that was interesting, and about his dad.

Well, I enjoyed it, and thanks again. :)

Leonard Cohen’s New Song, Released on His 82nd Birthday, Is Very Jewish and Very Dark

Dense with Jewish language and themes, the new song 'You Want it Darker' will appear on Cohen's upcoming album of the same name, which features the cantor and chour from the Montreal synagogue he attended as a child.

Leonard Cohen - You Want It Darker (Audio)

Leonard Cohen released a new song on Wednesday, which happens to be his 82nd birthday. The song, "You Want it Darker," lives up to the title's promise with particularly dark music and lyrics.

Dense with Jewish language and themes, “You Want it Darker” will appear on the songwriter’s upcoming album of the same name (his 14th studio album) on October 21.

The song is an eerie, minimalist rumination with strong religious elements in the lyrics. At the end of the chorus Cohen sings “Hineni, hineni; I’m ready, my lord.” Hineni is Hebrew for “here I am,” and is the response Abraham gives when God calls on him to sacrifice his son Isaac. It is also the name of a prayer of preparation and humility, addressed to God, chanted by the cantor on Rosh Hashanah. (Cohen is of course most famous for the use of another Hebrew word).

This is really good. I listened twice, the second time doing nothing else but concentrating on what he was saying.
What a blessing to "go" as he did, with a clear-thinking mind, understanding and experiencing the transition process. Only his body failed him.

David Remnick from The New Yorker shared yesterday his last interview with Leonard Cohen on September 2016. 20 min.
