R ~ going to set up my keyboard - first. Ease my way back into all of it ... then later on my
Roland Pro E that was my back up music. It is older now ... but a great piece of equipment. :DN4

You push your "Style" ... Samba, Dixie, Big Band, Rock, Funk, Country (has about 350 styles), and it will give you the proper instrumentation. You play a chord on it with your left hand, and there is your quintet ... in REAL time. 5 instruments ... accompanying you!!! BIG FAT SOUND!!! Don't have to waste time programming it!! Love it. All the males loved programming. I loved learning tunes from the latest shows, latest tunes by everybody I could "pull off", etc. People loved that I could take requests ... all natural... not locked into programmed arrangements of certain tunes. An Engineer more than a musician, I always felt.

I don't think I have any. Others had that ego, making their tapes, own CD's so they could say to an owner "I have my own CD out." Some owners would ask ... they didn't know. They didn't know they paid for them. Thought a "record company" picked them up. They thought too, they could sell them.

They bought a lot, the more you buy the cheaper they are... then they wound up *giving them away* ... making customers feeling special. :12

What does a million hits do for one?

Have been thinking ... I made my money from the Biz.
If I ever work again - it will be for charity. For the animals, Foster kids and orphans, Cancer, Heart...

The hardest part of all IS lugging the equipment, sound system, etc. KILLS YOUR HANDS. MANY WHO DID THAT HAVE CARPAL TUNNEL TOO.

It means a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that people like your music... and immortality as it is online for ever.

I did well over 1000 tunes. :DN4 Elton John, Billy Joel, Liza, Peter Allen,
Marvin H. - all his shows, Copa Cabana, Willie Nelson, Johnny Mandel (The Shadow Of Your Smile),
Chicago, C & W, all JAZZ, Sambas, Semi-Classical, Nobody Does It Better, Barry Manilow,
Ode To Billy Joe (FUNKY Country - they couldn't stand still. DANCED all the way
to and back form the Ladies/Men's room.) Rag Time, All "Peanut's" Tunes, Cole Porter, LOVE Bossa Nova's, Gershwin, The Odd Couple, I Love A Piano, Big Band Music, ALL SHOWS that were in town, Jerry Lee Lewis, so so so so many. Hard to remember. It's been about 8 years now...
At the time, old and tried to get as much contemporary as I could!! (And carry it off 100%, that is if I could.)
Did most all tunes Diana Krall did, or rather she did all the tunes I did, Shirley Horn's tunes too. Beautiful stiff.
All authentic Holiday music... tunes from Ireland, etc.
Played 99% of all requests. :DN4

It was a real honor I felt, to introduce some younger people to some great music they never heard before.

Oh I did many "musical cartoons". by David Frischberg ... and Bob Durough.
Kids would be standing at the end of the bar and would say "Did you hear what she is singing?"
They they would pay attention and start laughing. Very hip stuff ... I Gotta Get Me Some Zzzzzz's", (Would sometimes close with that one...) and I'm Hip, and others.

Yes maybe I will.

This is all for now. Just wanted you to see the other extreme end of the spectrum of my "act".
Shirley Horn was a wonderful musician, classically trained, my idol. Diana Krall does most all of her "act" today. I did them, before her. (She has many on youtube.com if you want more.) :DN4

This is a very sensitive tune about divorce. I am sure many of us can relate to it. I invision a person, standing in a room - in the midst of packed boxes - life as they knew it ... gone!

D. really is the death of a marriage... love affair...
WHERE Do You Start? (All of it!)

BTW not always like that. One of my best jobs I ever had was a DIVORCE PARTY thrown by a 30 year old woman. WHAT a party!! Such JOY in the room, her, her girlfriends, family, etc. :26

Happy Days Are Here Again :DN4

The last four songs all featured Roy Wood...

From Wikipedia
Quote:
Ulysses Adrian "Roy" Wood (born 8 November 1946) is an English singer-songwriter and musician. He was particularly successful in the 1960s and 1970s as member and co-founder of the bands The Move, Electric Light Orchestra, and Wizzard. As a songwriter, he contributed a number of hits to the repertoire of these bands.
