Judge rejects temporary ban on Parliament shutdown ahead of full hearing

A Scottish judge has refused to order a temporary halt to Boris Johnson's plan to shut down the UK Parliament.

A group of 75 parliamentarians were seeking an interim interdict - similar to an injunction - at the Court of Session ahead of a full hearing.

Their request was declined by Lord Doherty, who said he was not satisfied there was a "cogent need" for an interdict.

However, the full hearing will now be heard next Tuesday, rather than Friday.

Lord Doherty said this was because it was in the interests of justice, and in the public interest, for the case - which is opposed by the UK government - to proceed as quickly as possible.

But he said: "I am not satisfied that it has been demonstrated that there is a need for an interim suspension or an interim interdict to be granted at this stage."

Looking at the loony Remoaner protests...
as well as the prospect of "counter protests" by Brexiteers..

It occurs to me that "our side" has become just as daft as the "progressive left". :doh

There is now never ending "grievance" from the right as there is from the left..... one protest after another about something or other. It is a bad look for the permanently triggered left, and equally a bad look for the right. Apart form anything else.. if protests are a regular thing week after week they lose all "shock value". They should be a (rare) indication of dissatisfaction, not a regular "street party". When people do feel strongly enough about an issue to gather and march in the street, it SHOULD be a big deal... large numbers, and shit shut down (to make a point), but the regular limp gatherings with a bit of shouting (and the odd arrest) do not make much of a point at all... and achieve nothing.
At the moment with the Left (remoaners) crowd and even elected officials threatening to break the law (riot/block streets etc) they WILL come into conflict with the police, and piss off a lot of the general public. Our side, rather than "counter protest" and get dragged in, blamed and arrested as well.. should step back and enjoy the spectacle of triggered liberals wailing in the streets (and getting arrested)

The No10 dog revealed: Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds new pet is a 15-week-old Jack Russell puppy saved from 'certain death' at the hands of cruel traders

  • 15-week-old puppy abandoned by a Welsh farmer because of slight deformities
  • Pooch, yet to be named, rescued by Eileen Jones of Friends of Animals Wales
  • Unlike No 10 cat Larry, he'll belong to Mr Johnson and Miss Symonds rather than whoever occupies Downing Street

I see Sky news report about Bureaucrat report that BREXIT will cause trucks to be delayed at Dover... for maybe 2 days :doh

The fear mongers (realizing that is nonsense) say even 2 hours delay will be catastrophic for perishable food goods etc

This is NONSENSE on the face of it... food that is 2 hours less "fresh" is NOT going to make a difference... certainly not any sort of "catastrophe" :roll
Besides... considering an individual truck... WHY ON EARTH would it be held up for 2 hours? The paperwork may be changed... but it is not going to take an extra 2 hours (let alone 2 days) to clear it. The same computers will still be in place. Its not as if a customs form has to be taken by bicycle back to Calais, stamped with official EU rubber stamp... then back to to Dover :roll

EVEN IF we concede a 2 hour delay on first wave of trucks... after 2 hours they will be all getting through 2 minutes behind each other... so popping out every 2 minutes as before, albeit with a 2 hour offset... no problem there.
EVEN IF.. as fearmongers might claim this is a pile up at Dover that blocks following trucks... then they will surely "pile up" in Calais... France's problem that THEY will no doubt be working to solve.. and if the "pile up" wave goes all the way back to French suppliers, farmers losing millions of Euros... then I doubt they will tolerate that at all.

Boris Johnson loses majority as Tory MP Phillip Lee crosses floor to join Lib Dems :roll

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/p ... 90356.html

Debate goes on. There is to be a VOTE today on the opposition taking over Parliament tomorrow.

That will then mean a vote tomorrow on Bill to stop "no deal" and to get an extension of article 50. That will also include the EU having power to decide how long the extension will be. Boris CAN NOT agree with that.. and so will have to call a General Election. IF Labour do not vote for an elevation... then we are in Twilight Zone. :95

ETA
The vote on taking over control of parliament is happening now.
I HOPE at least Boris sticks with the threat to "remove whip" from traitors in Tory Party who vote for this crap!!

ETA
RESULT IS......328--301
Boris lost.. he responded by repeating there will be a General election if the bill passes tomorrow. Tabling such a motion tonight.

We need a LIST of Traitor Tories.

I do not understand WHY that does not mean automatic suspension of Parliament???
A new coalition proposed or a New election.

Talk of giving traitors a reprieve.... if they vote "properly" tomorrow?? :wall
That would be a MISTAKE (IMO)
If there is a general election the Tories need to have gotten rid of as many remoaners as possible

BBC say all 21 gone.... but BBC tell lies??

All Conservative rebel Brexit lawmakers being kicked out of party - BBC
LONDON (Reuters) - All 21 lawmakers from the ruling Conservative Party who voted against the government to back a motion to seize control of parliamentary time to try to block a ‘no deal’ Brexit are being kicked out of the party, the BBC’s political editor said on Tuesday, citing government sources.

It does seem to be true!! :91
At least the traitors interviewed have all been EX-Tory MPs.... now described as Independents.

Furious Boris Johnson calls for a SNAP ELECTION seconds after MPs, including 21 rebel Tories, WIN vote to seize control of Commons by 328 to 301 in fight to wipe out Brexit - but PM must win another vote tomorrow to send Britain to polls

  • Boris Johnson has lost a massive Commons showdown as Remainer MPs try to block a No Deal Brexit
  • Some 21 Tory MPs joined the revolt to inflict a stinging defeat on the government by 328 votes to just 301
  • Mr Johnson warned he will never ask the EU for an extension beyond the Brexit deadline of October 31
  • Pro-EU ex-ministers Justine Greening and Alistair Burt have announced they will stand down at the election

A furious Boris Johnson called for a snap election last night after Remainers seized control of Parliament to rule out No Deal Brexit.

The Prime Minister lost a crunch vote, giving a rebel alliance control of Commons business - with the aim of passing a law to stop the UK crashing out at the end of October.

One Labour could be heard shouting 'not a good start, Boris!' after the vote came in.

The victory for pro-EU MPs - by a huge margin of 328 to 301 - came despite Mr Johnson threatening to end the careers of Tories who joined the revolt by deselecting them.

Some 21 Conservatives - including eight former Cabinet ministers - took part in the mutiny. It was the first vote of Mr Johnson's premiership.

Senior figures such as Ken Clarke and Philip Hammond face being brutally ejected from the party in what one government source described as a 'bloodbath'.

That will leave the government an eye-watering 43 MPs short of a majority, and completely unable to control the House.

UK MPs publish plan to prevent no-deal Brexit

Spoiler:

https://twitter.com/hilarybennmp/status ... 8650621953
Quote:
The purpose of the Bill is to ensure that the UK does not leave the European Union on the 31 October without an agreement, unless Parliaments consents.

The Bill gives the Government time either to reach a new agreement with the European Union at the European Council meeting next month or to seek Parliament’s specific consent to leave the EU without a deal.

If neither of these two conditions have been met, however, by 19th October – ie the day after the European Council meeting concludes – then the Prime Minister must send a letter to the President of the European Council requesting an Article 50 extension until 31 January 2020.

The form of the letter is set out in a schedule to the Bill. If the European Council agrees to an extension to the 31 January 2020, then the Prime Minister must immediately accept that extension.

If the European Council proposes an extension to a different date then the Prime Minister must accept that extension within two days, unless the House of Commons rejects it.

The Bill has cross-party support from MPs who believe that the consequences of No Deal for the economy and the country would be highly damaging. No Deal is not in the national interest.

THIS is a travesty. Not only because "opposition" MPs have hijacked Parliament.. but they seek to control what the PM does... and worse still they cede control of UK affairs to the EU. They could be deciding on further extensions to Article 50... possible for ever? And...... UK has to pay UK a billion every month... so there is that incentive for them to stretch it out.

If this crap passes then Boris has said he will table a bill calling an election, but... that requires a 2/3 majority (434 votes) (Fixed Term Act) :doh
There is a possibility that he could present a Bill that calls for the Fixed Term Act to be ignored, and an election called... but even that would require a simple majority.. and Boris may no even get that :wall

IT CAN NOT BE CONSTITUTIONAL for one Parliament to BIND the next Parliament?????

AT THE VERY LEAST there must be an election. THEY CAN NOT cede control of Britain to the EU :eek

The big CON that many are engaged in is to regard "May's Deal" as a Brexit deal... when IT IS NOT!!!

People claim to have already "voted for Brexit" because they voted (3 times) for May's Deal

VOTE IN....

Ayes:298

Noes: 56

Boris "wins" but not by two thirds of house... lots of abstentions?

Labour for first time in history have "propped up" a minority Tory Government :95

--------------------
That there shall be an early parliamentary general election

RESULT
https://commonsvotes.digiminster.com/Di ... etails/715

------------------------
The Bill to STOP Brexit (no deal) passed by 52% to 48%. It seems clear to me that the MPs who voted for it did NOT know what they were voting for. They need to try again... or better still put it up for a "Peoples vote" (General election)
