Exit polls - too close to call

Exit polls NOT clear result, but........
Blue and White supporters were ecstatic over their party's performance in the election. One supporter, 43-year-old Zehorit, hailed the result's potential impact on LGBT rights.

As I said.... I am not up with the play on Israeli politics.... but that's enough to put me OFF Blue and white... Leftist, identity politics, SJW/snowflakes it seems :roll

Netanyahu Hails Election Victory as 'Immense Feat Facing Biased Media'

PM addressed Likud activists in a Tel Aviv speech after exit polls were published, thanking voters and his family and announcing he intends to form the next coalition

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced himself the big victor of Israel's 2019 election on Tuesday night in a celebratory speech he made in front of Likud activists in Tel Aviv.

"I started holding talks with the heads of the right-wing parties, our natural partners, tonight. Almost everyone publicly declared that they would recommend me [to President Reuven Rivlin] to form the next government. I intend to finish the task quickly in order to establish a stable national government," he said.

Netanyahu thanked his voters, calling the victory reflected in Tuesday night's exit polls an "immense feat, almost inconceivable… faced with biased media, under impossible conditions, the Likud grew dramatically!"

The premier also clarified that "this will be a right-wing government, but I intend to be the prime minister of all of Israel's citizens, right and left, Jews and non-Jews alike."

HOLD THE PRESS....

As counting continues there is a party (new right) which may pass the 3.25% threshold, and so gain seats....

https://www.jewishpress.com/news/israel ... 019/04/11/

If they pass, they will have 4 seats, and there will be a redistribution of those 4 seats from the other parties. Gantz-Lapid’s Blue and White will lose 2 seats, United Right will lose 1 seat, and UTJ loses a seat.

Likud 35, Gantz-Lapid 33, Shas 8, UTJ 7, Labor 6, Chadash-Ta’al 6, Israel Beiteinu 5, Right Wing Union 4, New Right 4, Meretz 4, Kulanu 4, Ra’am-Balad 4.

UPDATE
9:36 AM The counting of the double envelopes have been completed. The official results will be released later in the day, but it appears that Bennett-Shaked did not pass the electoral threshold, missing 1380 votes to pass. Some members of his party are already demanding a recount.

Bennett declared that he is praying to God and will fight for each vote.

Netanyahu Begins Building Fragile Coalition in Israel
Prime minister gets formal support from small political parties but still needs to mend disagreements in his coalition
By Dov Lieber and Rory Jones
April 15, 2019 2:09 p.m. ET

TEL AVIV—Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began trying to form a government Monday that will continue supporting him if he is charged with corruption and not splinter over the same disagreements that fractured his last coalition.

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, a ceremonial figure, is expected to formally invite Mr. Netanyahu to form a government this week after the prime minister won a narrow election victory. Mr. Netanyahu will attempt to pull together a majority of six right-wing and ultra-Orthodox parties that will control...

It's a historic first: Israel is officially going to a second election this year. First was on April 9, second will be on September 17. Law passed 74-45.

Even NOW the election result (the make up of Israeli government) is still being argued

Israel Election Results: Gantz Tells Netanyahu 'We'll Take It From Here,' PM: 'We'll Go Together'
Kahol Lavan co-leader Yair Lapid says he's willing to forgo his turn as prime minister for sake of unity government
Jonathan Lis

Kahol Lavan leader Benny Gantz called on Thursday to establish a broad, liberal unity government, but said that a prime minister embroiled in corruption cases doesn't necessarily have the citizens' best interests in mind. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded that the only way forward is a unity government headed by both candidates.

Speaking at a party meeting as the new Knesset prepares to be sworn in, Gantz further criticized Netanyahu, saying that a unity government, "not an immunity government," is needed. "We'll take it from here," Gantz said.

Gantz's remarks came just hours after Netanyahu and Yisrael Beiteinu's Avigdor Lieberman met for the first time since Israel's September 17 election, but Netanyahu's Likud party said "there was no breakthrough" in stalled coalition talks.

The meeting lasted less than an hour, with neither party reporting major progress.

Netanyahu won’t seek more time to form coalition, says Likud MK

PM has until Wednesday to clinch government or tell president he failed; David Bitan says ‘no point’ in requesting additional 14 days with negotiations stalled

By TOI staff
20 October 2019, 10:59 am

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not ask President Reuven Rivlin for a 14-day extension after Wednesday’s deadline for forming a government, a lawmaker in his Likud party said Sunday.

Likud and its main rival, the centrist Blue and White party, have not made headway in negotiations aimed at forming a unity government.

Netanyahu Tells President He Can't Form Government; Rivlin to Tap Gantz

Netanyahu rival and Kahol Lavan leader Benny Gantz will have 28 days to try to establish a coalition once Rivlin hands him the mandate, which the PM just returned

Jonathan Lis
Oct 21, 2019 9:14 PM

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Monday that he cannot establishment a new Israeli government and that he is returning the mandate to form a coalition to President Reuven Rivlin, paving the way for the first time in over a decade for a different candidate other than himself to try to create a government.

The premier made the announcement two days before his final deadline to present a coalition. Rivlin stated in response that he intends to tap the prime minister's rival and Kahol Lavan leader Benny Gantz. He is expected to formally announce his decision within 72 hours, by Thursday evening.

Gantz, a former Israeli army chief of staff, will have 28 days to try to form a coalition. If the Gantz-led coalition talks also fail, any lawmaker backed by a majority of at least 61 Knesset members would be the next one to have a go at forming a coalition.
