The Istana Palace....

I see first event for Trump is meeting and lunching with Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong at "The Istana Palace"

I have walked past the entrance to The Istana a million times... it's on bottom end of Orchard road .. THE big shopping Tourist street in Singapore. Kinda scary place... always men with machine guns at the gate... which is set some distance back from the road. I have never seen the palace itself... set in a large park.... not sure if the public can get into the park? Certainly NOT past the guards at the gate :cool

ETA
It looks like they do allow visitors on special occasions... much like they do at WH I guess?

Singapore Postcard: Summit a chance to showcase its food
By Annabelle Liang | AP | June 10, 2018

Image

SINGAPORE (AP) — The tiny city-state of Singapore is hosting its largest media contingent ever for the summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. They will be well fed, if nothing else.

A sprawling 2,100 square-meter (23,000-square-foot) facility built for an annual Formula One race has been refurbished to handle about 3,000 journalists expected to cover Tuesday’s summit.

It is a good distance from the summit venue, and intrepid journalists will likely move out of the media center and try to get closer to the action. Hundreds of journalists gathered outside the hotels where Trump and Kim are staying and along the streets to capture their arrivals on Sunday.

The police, though, have stepped up checks and surveillance in designated “special event areas” around the Capella Singapore hotel, where the summit will be held, and the leaders’ temporary residences, Kim’s St. Regis Singapore and Trump’s Shangri-La Hotel. The media center is part of Singapore’s $15 million bill for the summit, the bulk of which is going to security.

And then there’s the food.

Singapore, arguably the food capital of Asia, is treating journalists to a spread of more than 20 local and international favorites at meal times.

There are quintessential Singaporean dishes, such as toast with a coconut and egg jam, chicken-rice, and thick vermicelli in a spicy broth that’s made with dried shrimp.

The slideshow pics at link are interesting, imo, how North Koreans get news.

North Korea gets first big dose of Trump summit news
Quote:
PYONGYANG, North Korea (AP) — North Koreans got their first big dose of news Monday that their leader Kim Jong Un had arrived in Singapore for what even the state-run media was calling a historic meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

The news covered the front page of the ruling party’s newspaper and was the top — and only — item on the first news broadcast of the day on Korean Central Television, which for many North Koreans is the only channel available.

Trump-Kim meeting – live updates: (Independent UK)

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/worl ... 92686.html

Quote:
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un set a deadline of Tuesday for ending the Singapore summit, prompting President Donald Trump to move up his departure to Tuesday instead of Wednesday as planned, Bloomberg News has reported.

Citing two US officials familiar with the planning, Bloomberg said Mr Trump had been willing to stay longer if negotiations were progressing, but since Mr Kim set definite plans for departure, so did Mr Trump.

Quote:
Sean Hannity, a Fox News host and close ally of Donald Trump, will sit down with the president for an exclusive one-on-one after the summit concludes.

BTW
It's 5:00 AM in Singapore at the moment.
It is 5:00 PM EST.... If US peeps are gonna follow this live it will run through the night :roll

LOL! The eyebrows thing is still cracking me up. :84

After seeing Kim and Trump standing together several times, I'm thinking Kim is wearing a pair of Pee Wee Hermann's shoes from "Tequila". I wanna see Kim's shoes! ;)

    2. The United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.

Full text.....

Quote:
Joint Statement of President Donald J. Trump of the United States of American and Chairman King Jong Un of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea at the Singapore Summit

President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) held a first, historic summit in Singapore on June 12, 2018.

President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un conducted a comprehensive, in-depth, and sincere exchange of opinions on the issues related to the establishment of new U.S.-DPRK relations and the building of a lasting and robust peace regime on the Korean Peninsula. President Trump committed to provide security guarantees to the DPRK and Chairman Kim Jong Un reaffirmed his firm and unwavering commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Convinced that the establishment of new U.S.-DPRK relations will contribute to the peace and prosperity of the Korean Peninsula and of the world, and recognizing that mutual confidence building can promote the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un state the following.

    1. The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new U.S.-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.

    2. The United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.

    3. Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

    4. The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.

Having acknowledged that the U.S-DPRK summit — the first in history — was an epochal event of great significance in overcoming decades of tensions and hostilities between the two countries and for the opening up of a new future, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un commit to implement the stipulations in this joint statement fully and expeditiously. The United States and the DPRK commit to hold follow-on negotiations, led by the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and a relevant high-level DPRK official, at the earliest possible date, to implement the outcomes of the U.S.-DPRK summit.

President Donald J. Trump of the United States and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea have committed to cooperate for the development of new U.S.-DPRK relations and for the promotion of peace, prosperity, and security of the Korean Peninsula and of the world.

Trump apparently showed a propaganda video to Kim and his crew (versions in English and Korean)....

US video promises 'a new world' for Kim Jong Un and North Korea

My guess....

Underground Nuclear bomb testing sites are not easy or cheap to construct and there are limited places within one's own country that would be suitably isolated, yet accessible.

Kim ONLY HAD ONE site... and the massive "H-Bomb" test stuffed it up totally. That is the ONLY reason he halted Nuclear tests (and made a show of demolishing a few buildings at the location). He really is giving up nothing much.

He needs a LOT of cash (and time) before he is capable of any more Nuclear tests. He could just be playing Trump, hoping to start up nuclear tests again. However, he could also be intending to de-nuclearize now that he is stuffed as far as more tests go, but I dont think he would have even started that negotiation if his test site was still usable.
