Zimmerman lawyer to move ‘asap’ against NBC News
By Erik Wemple, Published: July 14 at 12:15 pm

Last night’s not-guilty verdict in the George Zimmerman trial will enable the neighborhood-watch volunteer to resume his case against NBC News for the mis-editing of his widely distributed call to police. Back in December, Zimmerman sued NBC Universal Media for defamation over the botched editing, which depicted him as a hardened racial profiler.

Every court is different, if the pleadings are what you seek. Pacer handles most federal courts (for a fee). State and local courts you have to check with. The court clerk will often share with attachments in emails, but that is up to the clerk. If you're close enough to the court to go in person, all must share for the price of copies (usually about $1 per page). Call the court clerks in cases you wish to follow.

On special cases, they may seal some of the pleadings or redacts parts of them.

I would not pay anything but thanks. Generally, the media gets these things and makes them public but I guess they have no interest.

Anyone have a rational opinion that explains the delay?

According to Rumpole's link above, it appears they may have been waiting for the outcome of the criminal trial :40

'When asked how the not-guilty verdict affects the civil case against NBC News, Beasley responded, “This verdict of not guilty is just that, and shows that at least this jury didn’t believe that George was a racist, profiling, or anything that the press accused George of being. That probably doesn’t get you that much but it’s simply time for us to start the case and hold accountable anyone who was irresponsible in their journalism.”

Yes, but that is over and it has been quite a while.

Following the complaint filed, about the onlu doc's filed worth searching for was the response seeking to have the case delayed.

...and then it was started again.

Most civil lawsuits that go to trial span years.

If I saw it, I did not read all of it. I do recall reading some of it, but that may have been excerpts quoted in articles.

Her immunity claim is SOP for all prosecutors in every case. The question then goes to what duties of her job relate to the conduct in question. I think at best it would be qualified immunity because termination of an employee is management, not attorney duties.

Nobody is immune to violating the law, so firing a whistle blower may be a problem for her ...unless the judicial system crosses the line to protect their own.
