(CNN)A Florida man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman in May will stand trial for attempted second degree murder, a judge ruled Tuesday.

Judge Debra S. Nelson :doh ruled there was probable cause that Matthew Apperson should be tried on three charges. In addition to the attempted murder charge, he also faces one count of aggravated assault with a firearm and one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Zimmerman testified for more than an hour, describing several incidents with Apperson, including one on May 11 where a bullet went through Zimmerman's passenger window and narrowly missed him, according to a police report.

Matthew Apperson case: Zimmerman shooting suspect on trial for disorderly conduct
By Elyssa Cherney | Orlando Sentinel | October 19, 2015, 11:59AM

Matthew Apperson, the Winter Springs man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman during a road-rage incident, is in court today to settle a different dispute: did he urinate on his neighbor's porch?

Jury selection for the misdemeanor trial began in Seminole County this morning. Presentation of evidence is expected to begin Wednesday.

Apperson is charged with disorderly conduct in that case. A judge's order has kept him in jail since July 31 because the new allegations came when he was free on bond.

[...]
As the misdemeanor case progresses, Apperson is also awaiting trial for his May 11 confrontation with George Zimmerman as the pair drove down Lake Mary Boulevard.

Apperson is facing an attempted-second degree murder charge in that case for allegedly shooting into Zimmerman's car from his own.

Man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman found guilty of public urination

October 21, 2015
By Tiffany Walden
Orlando Sentinel

(excerpt)

ORLANDO, Fla.

Matthew Apperson, the Winter Springs man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman, was found guilty Wednesday of disorderly conduct for urinating on his neighbor’s porch despite his testimony about his problems with urinating in public.

Apperson, who was on trial while free on bond in the Zimmerman road-rage case, testified that he was diagnosed with a “shy bladder” when he was 8, a condition that should remove him as a suspect in this case.

“I had difficulty using the restroom in general,” he said. “I kind of learned to avoid liquids and not really drink so much.”

The jury deliberated for about two hours before rendering a verdict. Apperson looked back at his mother and wife and shook his head after the verdict was read aloud.

Man accused in George Zimmerman shooting asks judge to throw out 3-D re-enactment
By Rene Stutzman | Orlando Sentinel | July 26, 2016, 7:17PM

A judge Tuesday said there is little chance she'll allow jurors to see a 3-D computer-generated re-creation of what happened the day Matthew Apperson shot at George Zimmerman as the two men drove side-by-side down Lake Mary Boulevard.

Apperson, 37, is charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle. He says he fired a handgun at Zimmerman on May 11, 2015, after the former neighborhood watch volunteer pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him.

Zimmerman gives a very different version of events. He says he did not touch his gun, that Apperson honked, yelled and fired without provocation.

The bullet passed near Zimmerman's head.

Defense attorney Michael LaFay argued that four days after the shooting, a Lake Mary police officer drove Apperson's vehicle, a 2012 Infinity sedan, and someone else drove Zimmerman's pickup, as they tried to re-create what happened using a software program that renders it into a 3-D video.

That was improper, LaFay argued, because police failed to get a court order explicitly authorizing their use of Apperson's vehicle. LaFay asked Circuit Judge Debra Nelson to throw out the 3-D re-creation.

[...]Nelson agreed, but said she would not make a final ruling for two days, giving attorneys more time to research the law.

Nelson scheduled Apperson's trial for Sept. 6. Apperson is being held without bail at the Seminole County jail.

Attorney: George Zimmerman, Apperson argued over Trayvon Martin in previous incident
Elyssa Cherney

Image

Eight months before a Seminole County man fired a bullet into George Zimmerman's truck in 2015, the pair argued about Trayvon Martin, Zimmerman testified Tuesday.

Matthew Apperson, the man involved in that dispute, is standing trial on attempted second-degree murder charges related to the May 2015 shooting. Apperson maintains he acted in self defense, but prosecutors say he instigated the violence.

Prosecutors called Zimmerman as a witness Tuesday morning to offer his account of the shooting on Lake Mary Boulevard.

The former Neighborhood Watch volunteer told jurors he's been harassed in the three years since a jury acquitted him of murder in the death of Trayvon, an unarmed black teenager. That case ignited protests across the country and gave birth to the Black Lives Matter movement.

George Zimmerman testimony: Black Lives Matter is 'terrorist' group
Elyssa Cherney, Orlando Sentinel

Image

In a lengthy and heated exchange with a defense attorney, George Zimmerman called members of the the Black Lives Matter movement "terrorists" and said he sold the gun he used to kill unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin for $250,000.

Zimmerman, 32, returned to the Seminole County courthouse Wednesday to testify against a man accused of trying to kill him by shooting into his truck last year. The defense attorney for shooter Matthew Apperson, who maintains he fired in self defense, peppered his questions with blatant and brutal references to Trayvon's controversial death.

"You didn't shoot at Apperson because he had a pistol and not a bag of Skittles?" Michael LaFay asked.
[.....]
LaFay asked Zimmerman if he associated Apperson with the Black Lives Matter movement. Zimmerman said no, calling the group "terrorists" and saying the attorney was giving them "credence."

"They are terrorists," he said. "I see them as terrorists."

George Zimmerman shooter testifies in own defense
Elyssa Cherney, Orlando Sentinel

Matthew Apperson, the man who shot at George Zimmerman through a car window in May, testified in his own defense Thursday as he stood trial on attempted second-degree murder charges.

Apperson, 27, of Winter Springs, is also charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and shooting into an occupied vehicle in connection with the May 11 confrontation with Zimmerman as the two drove alongside each other on Lake Mary Boulevard. Zimmerman is the former neighborhood watch volunteer acquitted of murder in the death of unarmed black teenager Travyon Martin, a case that set off protests across the country.

As Apperson told his side of the story, jurors listened to a 911 call made by Apperson one year earlier — on Sept. 9, 2014 — after his first random encounter with Zimmerman. Apperson said he was tapping his wheel to music when the car beside him rolled down a window and the driver, whom he recognized as Zimmerman, started screaming.

Testimony concludes in Zimmerman shooter's trial
By Elyssa Cherney | Orlando Sentinel | September 15, 2016

Image

Matthew Apperson — who shot at one of Sanford's most notorious residents in May — called on the man's ex-girlfriend Thursday as part of his self-defense claim against George Zimmerman.

Samantha Scheibe testified that Zimmerman brandished a gun, broke her table and locked her out of her house during an argument in 2013, a dispute in which Zimmerman was arrested but not charged. A friend of his for 15 years, Scheibe said she never feared Zimmerman would hurt her, though.

"I was more in fear about what he was planning to do to himself or to my belongings," she testified before a jury Thursday. "Especially after I was locked out of my house, I was definitely not in fear."

Scheibe's testimony capped four days of witnesses being called in Apperson's trial. The jury will start deliberation Friday after hearing closing arguments from attorneys.

#AppersonTrial - Jurors have a question.

#AppersonTrial - Jury ? - Can the aggressor stand his ground?

#AppersonTrial - Judge Nelson doesn't want to assume who the jury thinks the "aggressor" is in their question.

#AppersonTrial - Judge Nelson is going to tell the jurors they must rely on their instructions for "justifiable use of deadly force".

[Deliberations continue.]

That is GREAT news.

I did wonder with the Jury question if the dopes realised they were trying Apperson... not a re-match of Zimmerman V Trayvon. :)

This is what ALL the reporters were talking about during deliberations, especially after getting the jury question.
And the Traybots were always chiming in with their hate remarks. :roll

Apperson was found guilty of:

- Attempted 2nd Degree Murder
- Shooting into vehicle
- Aggravated Assault with Firearm

SANFORD — The Seminole County man convicted of shooting at George Zimmerman as the two drove down Lake Mary Boulevard in separate vehicles was sentenced today to 20 years in prison.
