A JOKE was OK... shame West delivered it poorly is my main beef... West does look a bit off his game at times... slow to warm up certainly... but when he is firing on all 4 cylinders.... I like his style... a sharp contrast with the brash antics on the State side.

The State lawyers are charisma-challenged.... West has Charm.

I didn't like the joke...but...I do wonder if West threw it out there to get the "jurors" to focus on him...sort of stun them into being really intent on what he was going to say.

The prosecution gave a very melodramatic statement...and had everyone talking about them. But after the "joke", everyone was talking about the defense. So, the joke did get the attention off the prosecution's opening statement to a degree.

The press is the press...but...the jurors are different and I'm thinking that the jurors were intently focused on West's words...and the visuals helped, too.

Visuals were much better than the strange tones John Guy used with some of his words.

I really liked that the defense got out in front of some of the ways the prosecution will try to present the evidence...the jury will have something in context to compare with what the state presents.

Question: does anyone think it's possible that O'Mara is purposefully putting off deposing Crump until "after" DeeDee/Rachel has taken the stand?

Yes. It occurs to me that they may be intending to use Crump to impeach W8.

Or maybe one rushes Crump into depo as soon as W8 gets called by either side so they have both under oath simultaneously in separate buildings with the only communication being between West and O'Mara and Crump sort of incommunicado for the duration.

I think West intentionally told a cheesy joke to break the somber mood that was created by the prosecution's opening statement. I also suspect the jury consultant had some input on how to get jury's attention before begininng opening statements.

Rumpole, will you be posting a link to the trial the media has been watching? Clearly, I've been watching the wrong one. Based on the media reports and commentaries, the trial I watched was different. I didn't hear NEN dispatcher, Sean, confirm George was following Trayvon after Sean told him not to. Also didn't see West start off with the joke, I recall West beginning with something else and the state objecting. I also heard West explain why there was no blood on Trayvon's hands, not even Trayvon's blood, which should have been there if we were taken in by Guy's drama.

Remember the hearing when RZsr. testified? Remember how the 911 call with the screams was played for him to hear, to identify his son, GZ? No jury present, so no rush for the door when the call was played. Around 1:20 the camera cuts to the dry-eyed, non-grieving, Fulton after the call with the screams is played.

I wonder how many of the jurors followed the Casey Anthony trial. Most of those on the outside knew Baez's opening statement was BS, but the jury bought it hook, line and sinker. If I was on jury now, after following the Anthony trial, I would take Guy's opening with a grain of salt and wait for actual facts.

The deposition "after DeeDee" seems back azzwards to me, but we know Crump evidently does not fear getting caught red-handed providing false information to a tribunal!

I'm not so certain the Rachel social accounts (twiiter, facebook) were not planted for some reason.

Has there been any discussion at CTH on that possibility?

IMO, that's a big reason West's opening was so good and important - he shredded the drama narrative with actual facts presented in a factual way. As Rumpole pointed out, each piece of evidence the jury hears can be put in the detailed framework laid out by West. Yes, it's possible they can try to do the same with the state's narrative, but it was so short, so basic, so bereft of facts, and so challenged/contradicted by West's detailed opening, I think it's less likely.

Trial thread closed before I posted, so bringing this over to answer MBTB:

murderbythebook wrote:

She said they were running and standing up with arms flaying. How would that help George?

She's been so thoroughly discredited now, it may not help defense. However, MOM got her to admit that it could have been as described by John, one on top of the other. She adds to his expected testimony that the arms were flailing sort of windmill style, which backs up GZ's statements. TM™ had no injuries prior to gunshot, plus witnesses saw TM™ on top, so she actually added the beat-down part that John slightly backed away from.

I keep hearing repeated references to Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton getting up and leaving the courtroom while court was in session. I know of two such instances (one each for TrayMom and TrayDad). How many times altogether have they pulled this stunt?

Which reminds me...............

:lol :lol :lol

After all Bigboi has said about people hiding their twitter accounts... guess what.......

After she vowed to spew Hate and venom about George and his family PUBLICLY......

Image

No alert about George's Curfew time for about 2 weeks... yet Bigboi vowed to do that daily until George was "locked up again" as her commitment to support of the Traybot cause.

Seems that as well as all her other faults, Bogboi is lacking in Honor to follow through with a commitment

Of course Bigboi’s daily warning is silly. People of Sanford are in no particular danger if they choose to wear a hoodie outside the hours that George's curfew is in force. What is a REAL danger in Sanford is that ignorant people like Bigboi choose to ignore orders to keep their vicious dogs under control. That problem persists… at all hours.

LE recommends a CW rather than pepper spray… so to be truly safe from uncontrolled dogs, while wearing your hoodies….. Carry a gun.

And.....

Bigboi likes to tweet the time that George's Curfew takes effect each day, so in reply.....

It appears that Bigboi has once again fallen into an alcohol induced coma and stopped tweeting for the day :lol

It is safe for intelligent, informed, sane people to discuss the GZ case on twitter... for a few hours. :cool

If only Bigboi had kept her dog under control, when she was ordered to... Trayvon would still be alive..
