Action News Recreates Michael Dunn Shooting
Reported by: Tera Barz
Published: 4/24

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
Our experts are taking all the evidence and testimony and giving you a never-before-seen look at what may have happened the night Jordan Davis was shot and killed by Michael Dunn.

We recreated the scene from that deadly night. Our experts used a 9 mm handgun similar to the one Dunn used, with similar bullets and a Dodge Durango like the vehicle Jordan Davis and his friends were in that night.

Former FBI and weapons experts Dale Carson and Brian Kensel put Michael Dunn’s testimony to the test.

I watched the recreation video... you don't see every detail and I do not agree with the conclusions.

Apart from anything else... it does not "make sense" that the youths were "fleeing" before ANY shots were fired. It makes even LESS sense that Davis was lying along the car seat BEFORE any shots fired. The "recreation" contends that the Durango had already backed out and was behind Dunn's car.

No doubt The True Gossip Forum mob will go along with this. However, they should bear in mind that it is not only contrary to what Dunn says, but contrary to the testimony of all three car occupants.

This "re-enactment" has about as much credibility as a LIMPapa Video Mash.

It needs more "Cow Bell"... maybe a Mannequin analogue of Davis with precision DRILLED bullet holes?

Appeals court sides with media in Dunn case
Author: Frank Powers, Assignment manager
Published On: Apr 25 2014 02:52:55 PM EDT

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The First District Court of Appeals has once again sided with the media in the Michael Dunn case, this time finding that Judge Russell Healey was wrong to exclude the media for portions of jury selection.

During the first part of jury selection, the media wasn't allowed in the courtroom. Healey then allowed an audio feed into an overflow room, but that kept getting turned off.

Lastly, the media was not in the courtroom when the jury was finalized.

The appeals court ruled those actions and restrictions were improper and violated a "vital component" of First Amendment rights.

The court said it wanted to make sure those restrictions weren't repeated in the retrial. Therefore, all Healey's orders that relate to jury selection are vacated.

State attorney wants Michael Dunn sentenced before retrial

Protestors call for Angela Corey's removal
Author: Tarik Minor, Anchor-reporter
Published On: May 27 2014 05:09:58 PM EDT

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Prosecutors with State Attorney Angela Corey's office said they want Michael Dunn sentenced on three counts of attempted murder before he's retried for the death of 17-year-old Jordan Davis.

Dunn was convicted of attempting to shoot and kill three teenagers in a vehicle after an argument over loud music, but the jury was unable to reach a conviction on the first-degree murder charge in Davis' death. Davis was the fourth teen in the car.

Protestors at City Hall on Tuesday said the Michael Dunn case is just one of the reasons why they are calling for Corey's removal.

The Jacksonville Progressive Coalition, made up of several local activists and organizations, launched the "Angela Out now" campaign, expressing what the group calls widespread outrage over Corey's role in the George Zimmerman case, the Dunn trial and the Marissa Alexander case.

Organizers are also taking issue with Corey's position on civil citations, and they've started a Facebook page called "Angela Out Now."

"I think she's been very detrimental to the black and brown community and the poor white community," said Wells Todd, a member of the Jacksonville Progressive Coalition. "As far as direct commitment of young people to jail. As far as arresting kids who have committed misdemeanors instead of civil citations."

Corey's office released a statement to Channel 4 regarding the protestors: "The State Attorney's Office has a duty to protect this community and to seek justice for all our victims in the Fourth Judicial Circuit, and we will continue to do so."

The office also said Dunn should be sentenced as early as possible.

If Dunn takes the stand at his sentencing hearing to address the court, or Jordan Davis' family, what he says could be used against him later on in his murder trial. His attorneys said that is precisely the reason why they want to delay his sentencing, but Corey's office wants closure on those convictions now.

I can't argue with people who think Angela Corey is a liability.... but as for the "Sentence Dunn now" notion..... it is DAFT!!!

There is no way that Dunn can speak freely at any sentencing hearing since he still has the Murder trial ahead of him. As such he would not get the normal opportunity to present evidence in mitigation at a sentencing hearing. I imagine any sentence passed would be appealed.... and it may also be grounds to appeal the verdict in the murder trial as well. :wall

It would make more sense to me if there was an appeal as to the conviction(s) for attempted murder.... especially IF Dunn is found not guilty of Murder. I do not think he should have been found guilty. There was evidence that he acted in self defence. There was at the very least reasonable doubt as to the events that took place. The entire event should have been viewed by the Jury... if Dunn is found Not Guilty of Murder (self defence) then the volley of shots he fired was legitimate... and so he should not have been found guilty of attempted murder, as if it were a separate incident.

Thanks Jordan.

I have my doubts that the outcome of the Murder trial will be "not Guilty". ... but I think it should be.

Dunn needs to have a REALLY strong defense team... and of course we are dependent on a Jury... which is increasingly a worry to me.

I don't know, Jordan... There was online streaming for the last trial... all I can do is try the links closer to trial time.

I will update the trial somehow... even if it is just tweets.

It looks like today is just a pretrial hearing. The date for pretrial proper is yet to be set :wall

2 decisions expected in Michael Dunn hearing
Reported by: Russell Colburn

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Michael Dunn will be back in front of a judge Monday morning at the Duval County Courthouse. His lawyers are expected to argue to have his sentencing for three counts of attempted murder delayed.

Dunn's defense wants to see that decision made after his retrial for the murder of 17-year-old Jordan Davis.

AND...... Sanity has prevailed... Sentencing on the Attempted Murder convictions will not be done until AFTER the retrial on the murder1 charge.
