Cankles:
“The deaths of Alton and Philando are the latest in a long and painful litany of African Americans killed in police incidents – 123 so far this year alone. We know the names of other victims, too: Tamir Rice. Sandra Bland. Walter Scott. Dontre Hamilton. Laquan McDonald. Eric Garner. Michael Brown. Freddie Gray. Brandon Tate-Brown.”
Alton – resisting arrest, tasered, shot while still resisting arrest and attempting to pull gun from pocket.
Philando – armed robbery suspect shot with gun in lap after disobeying police instructions not to touch gun.
Tamir Rice — shot after brandishing realistic replica firearm and disobeying police instructions three times. Investigation report: shooting was reasonable — no charges filed.
Sandra Bland — An autopsy conducted by the Harris County medical examiner ruled Bland’s death a suicide and said it found no evidence of a violent struggle. Police stated that Bland had used a plastic garbage bag to hang herself. In December 2015, a grand jury declined to issue an indictment in connection to Bland’s death.
Walter Scott — shot to death after fleeing, assaulting cop, taking cop’s taser. Police officer charged with murder.
Dontre Hamilton — shot to death after taking police officer’s baton and beating police officer over the head. Shooting ruled self-defense, no charges filed.
Laquan McDonald — shot to death by police officer after slashing patrol car tire with knife and ignoring repeated instructions to drop knife. Police Officer Jason Van Dyke charged with 6 counts of murder.
Eric Garner — died as a result of “compression of neck (chokehold), compression of chest and prone positioning during physical restraint by police.” Asthma, heart disease, and obesity were cited as contributing factors. There was no damage to the windpipe or neckbones. Grand jury decided not to indict police. Feds reportedly “at odds” over bringing charges.
http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/02/politics/ ... rges-odds/Michael Brown — shot to death after strong arm robbery of store and attacking police officer. Police officer not charged after local and federal investigations.
Freddie Gray — died in hospital a week after suffering neck injury in police van. Apparently bogus politically motivated charges by Mosby have resulted in acquittals of police officers by black judge.
Brandon Tate-Brown — “Police say one of the two officers spotted a gun wedged between the passenger seat and the center console. They ordered him out of the car and that’s when he allegedly started struggling with the officers. It was captured on grainy video surveillance.
Police say Tate-Brown eventually broke free and tried to get his gun and that’s when one of the officers shot him once in the head. “This was not the case of an unarmed man shot while running away. It’s a case of a struggle and of Mr. Brandon Tate-Brown’s attempt to get his illegal gun,” Williams said. Williams says the gun had been stolen and had Tate-Brown’s DNA on it.” No charges filed against police.
So what Cankles is actually complaining about is mostly cops defending themselves against attacking perps.
