I am unable to find decision by the judge on the above lawsuit.

Meanwhile, the lawsuit in March, 2017, of seven citizens suing the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) was amended June 27. It cites complaints going back to the 1970s through the shooting of Sterling. :roll

This is a new lawsuit by another Baton Rouge Police Officer, a deputy.

DeRay McKesson Named In Suit Filed Against ‘Black Lives Matter’
By CBS Baltimore | July 7, 2017 9:50 PM

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A federal lawsuit accuses the Black Lives Matter movement of inciting violence that lead to the murder of three Baton Rouge police officers in 2016.

Baltimore activist DeRay McKesson has also been named in the suit.

The federal lawsuit was filed Friday on behalf of a deputy who survived that deadly attack one year ago.

It alleges that McKesson did nothing to calm angry protesters down in the summer of 2016, as protesters flooded the streets of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Those protesters were demanding answers after police shot and killed 37-year-old Alton Sterling.

Baltimore activist and Black Lives Matter leader DeRay McKesson was the face of the cause.

Just days later, a gunman with ex-military experience took his anger towards law enforcement to the extreme, murdering three officers.

Now a lawsuit filed on behalf of a surviving deputy blames Black Lives Matter and leaders like McKesson for inciting violence and not doing enough to calm down angry crowds.

McKesson, who also has a position with Baltimore City Public Schools, did not respond to WJZ’s request for comment, and his attorney said he’s not able to comment on pending litigation.

McKesson was at the forefront of protests here in Baltimore and around the country.

Update to previous post. Un-fucking-believable.

Baton Rouge officer's lawsuit dismissed; Black Lives Matter can't be sued, judge says
By Michael Kunzelman | The Advocate | September 28, 2017

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A federal judge has ruled that Black Lives Matter is a social movement that can't be sued over an officer's injuries during a protest following a deadly police shooting in Baton Rouge last year.

A Baton Rouge police officer sued Black Lives Matter and DeRay Mckesson, a prominent activist in the movement. But U.S. District Judge Brian Jackson ruled Thursday that Black Lives Matter is not "an entity of any sort," and like the tea party or civil rights movement, it can't be sued.

The judge also concluded that Mckesson "solely engaged in protected speech" at the July 2016 demonstration where someone threw a rock at the officer. The protest followed the death of Alton Sterling, a black man fatally shot by a white police officer.

The officer in the suit, identified only as John Doe "for his protection," sought damages over a claims he was struck in the face by a piece of concrete or similar rock-like item hurled at officers.

Police won't face charges in Alton Sterling shooting case
By M.L. Nestel | ABC News | March 27, 2018, 5:32 PM ET

The two Baton Rouge police officers involved in the controversial 2016 shooting death of Alton Sterling won't face charges in the case, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry said Tuesday.

Speaking from the steps of the attorney general's office, Sterling's family said they would get justice from God instead.

Sterling's aunt bluntly called the death of her nephew "murder" and called out one of the cops by name for ending his life.

[...]
A wrongful death lawsuit was filed last June by lawyers for Sterling's five children against both officers, the police department, its chief, and the city of Baton Rouge. The suit accuses the Baton Rouge Police Department of lax training and poor procedures -- factors that caused Sterling to be shot and killed.

The suit is still pending.

True no criminal charges but.... the Mayor (S. Weston Broome) who is an idiot wanted Officer Salamoni and
Officer Lake fired. We all expected it. Officer Salamoni was fired on Friday and Officer Lake was suspended for a few days.

S. Weston Broome comes straight from .... Chicago. Six of her LEO hires were let go, they were felons and liars on their applications. smh She has been out to get the two officers since she came into office. She is no friend to the police department.

All of the reports leave out that the fact that Sterling was known to all LEO. He had a rap sheet a mile long, was known to carry and was KNOWN to resist. He was very recently out of jail on drug charges. The CDs he sold were bootleg CD and he had already been arrested for selling them.

The police were called to the store BECAUSE he was pointing the gun at some guy who tried to bum money from him.

I am sure that the Officers felt like someone would not be going home that night.
I AM GLAD IT WAS STERLING THAT DIDN'T MAKE IT TO HIS EARTHLY HOME and the officers are safe.
The loss of a job is a small price to pay when you look at the big picture.

There are articles all over the internet and newly released body cam footage. My computer is giving me trouble and i cannot get articles and video to post. I will edit shortly if I can get one to post

Forgot to add that because of this big POS three officers lost their lives in a later event.

Thanks for the info and link, Showpoodles.

Yes, you are so right. The loss of the officer's job IS a small price to pay considering what happened.

My husband gave me story to post and I told him about the officers who died. He didn't even know, or had forgotten.

And indirectly, a week later, the five Dallas officers were killed at a BLM march here.

OM gosh Molly you are right!!! In the midst of being mad, the five officers in Dallas had slipped my mind.

All of these unnecessary deaths because of one big POS. And the media keeps showing that stupid picture of him smiling real big for the camera and looking all big giant teddy bearish and all. What a crock. The media will not be happy until they get this all ramped up again and get some more officers shot. How disgusting.

Oh yea and he was also a drug user, I can't remember if they ever released the pathology report but I am willing to bet he was high as a kite that night also. Hence part of the reason that the taser didn't take him down. That and the fact that the darker your skin the less effective the taser is.

Glad you mentioned the pathology report.

His toxicology analysis from the autopsy was sealed by a judge in August, 2016.

I found this in an article from yesterday. :roll
Quote:
The report also included the results of a toxicology test, which said Mr. Sterling’s blood had contained alcohol, cocaine, amphetamine, methamphetamine and THC. The amount of methamphetamine, the report said, was associated with “abusers who exhibited violent and irrational behavior.”

Thanks Molly. Did not realize the toxicology report had been released. And there you have it. Seems the list may have been shorter to just state what was not in his system.

These officers knew exactly who and what they were dealing with.
