Thought about the photo you posted Molly maybe it is the savage after the attack taking his coat off to throw the police off any descriptions given in those first chaotic moments. Take off the coat take off the hat blend in, but he would also have to have abandoned the gun.

A gunman has opened fire on an Istanbul mosque just hours after a gunman stormed a nightclub in the city during New Year celebrations and killed 39 people.

Two people have been taken to hospital following the shooting at the Hasan Pasha Mosque in Algeria mosque in the north of the Turkish city.

It comes on the same day a gunman, who appeared to be dressed in a Santa Claus hat, opened fire in the Reina nightclub in Istanbul's Ortaköy district sending terrified revellers diving into the Bosphorus River for cover.

A further 69 people are thought to have been wounded in the attack, which happened in the early hours of this morning.

The mosque shooting came this afternoon as people gathered at the mosque for prayers when an gunman opened fire with a rifle.

Police have launched an investigation but authorities say there is no reason to believe there was a 'political cause'.

Iraq – A spokesman for Iraq’s foreign ministry said that three Iraqis died in the attack.
Lebanon – The Lebanese foreign ministry announced the death of three Lebanese and said another four were wounded. “I was saved by my passport which I was carrying right near my heart,” one of the injured, Francois al-Asmar, told Lebanese television from his hospital bed.

Had to take a break from this attack in particular. I think even more so than ever we are going to be fed a long line of lies. Trump cannot take office soon enough. Time to make an example of an Islamic State. I don't care which one it is bomb them off the face of the earth and every time one of their nationals does some savagery like this, bomb their country of origin if it an Islamic state. Do or die.

I have advocated for some time....

DROP A NUKE in response to each and every Islamic atrocity.... if it is an afront to USA or REAL allies.

I am NOT SURE Turkey qualifies? Muslims killing Muslims.... I wouldn't want to interfere with that.

A video selfie of the alleged Istanbul attacker, in which he is seen walking
around tourist spots at Taksim square, is circulating in the media.

The identity of the Istanbul night club attacker has been established, the Turkey’s interior minister has stated. Thirty-nine people were killed and almost 70 wounded in the bloody shooting massacre at the venue on the New Year’s Eve.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu made the announcement in an interview with the Anadolu news agency on Wednesday.

The gunman escaped following the attack and remains at large. On Tuesday, a selfie video of the suspected attacker filmed at Taksim square emerged in the Turkish media. One day prior to that, police released the first photos of the suspect.

Istanbul New Year's nightclub attacker caught: media reports
By Daren Butler | ISTANBUL

The gunman suspected of killing 39 people in an Istanbul nightclub on New Year's Day has been caught by police in the city's Esenyurt district, the Hurriyet newspaper website and other media reports said on Tuesday.

The man, who media quoted police as saying had operated under the cover name Abu Muhammed Horasani, was caught in a hideout with his four-year-old son, Hurriyet said. The reports could not immediately be confirmed.

Dozens of people have previously been detained in connection with the attack for which Islamic State has claimed responsibility, saying it was revenge for Turkish military involvement in Syria.
