New York (CNN) [Breaking news update at 12:30 p.m.] -- Ahmad Khan Rahami, the man suspected in bombings in New York and New Jersey, is now in custody after a shootout with police, sources said.

The shootout happened Monday in Linden, New Jersey. Rahami was shot and was taken to an ambulance in a stretcher with his right shoulder bloodied and bandaged.

-- Two officers were hit in the shootout with Rahami, the mayor of the nearby city of Elizabeth said. One officer's vest was struck, and the other was shot in the hand.
-- Investigators first identified Rahami Sunday afternoon, a senior law enforcement official told CNN Monday. They were able to identify him through a fingerprint, the official said. The cell phone on the pressure cooker device found at the 27th street location in Manhattan also provided some clues, the official added.

What a waste of space.....

I'd have made him crawl to the nearest police station...

Drop him and his crew back in Afghanistan... look for a hospital there

  • He was taken into custody after a shoot-out with police in Linden, New Jersey Monday morning
  • FBI released Rahami's picture Monday morning, saying they wanted to question him in connection to the two bombings and one attempted bombing in New York City and New Jersey over the weekend
  • The pressure cooker bomb set off Saturday in New York City's Chelsea neighborhood left 29 people injured

This is the chilling moment that suspected bomber Ahmad Rahami was caught on surveillance footage casually walking down a Manhattan street with an explosive in his suitcase.

The 28-year-old has been charged with five counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and two gun charges after he was captured in an FBI shootout following the terror attacks in New York and New Jersey over the weekend. Bail has been set at $5.2 million and he remains in hospital.

Almost 30 people were injured in the devastating Manhattan attack in the popular neighborhood of Chelsea on Saturday evening.

Shortly before the blast, Rahami was seen on surveillance footage walking down 23rd Street in Chelsea, dragging a wheeled bag behind him. That bag, police say, contained the shrapnel-packed pressure-cooker explosive - similar to those used in the Boston Marathon bombing - which he used in the attack.

HAs deBlasio admitted it is another Islamic assault on innocent people yet?

Has that bastard Obama even mentioned the latest Islamic terrorist savagery?

The only thing that separates the USA from a third world dictatorship is our Second Amendment and that educated, patriotic people are willing to uphold our Constitution. It is clear that over ruling elites have declared war on its citizens.

Bombing Suspect's Wife Questioned in the Middle East
By Matthew Mosk, Brian Ross, Aaron Katersky, Josh Margolin, Rhonda Schwartz

The wife of New York and New Jersey bombing suspect Ahmad Rahami was questioned by American investigators in the United Arab Emirates today as she sought to return from Pakistan to the U.S., federal officials told ABC News.

The FBI said Asia Bibi Rahimi -- an alternate spelling of her husband's surname -- voluntarily submitted to an interview. She had left the U.S. for Pakistan in June, one of the officials said, and by virtue of the actions of her husband she has now been flagged for possible terror ties.

UAE officials are also questioning Rahami's wife, according to the UAE Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Asia Rahami's travel comes after Ahmad Rahami's mother, Najiba, left the U.S. on Aug. 24 for Turkey, the federal sources said.

The travel by the two women, along with the whereabouts of Ahmad Rahami's other relatives and associates, have been a source of continued interest to investigators, who are trying to determine whether the bombing suspect acted alone or had help.

I read that there are many reasons FBI want to talk to these men and retrieve the suitcase - mainly evidence. Said it is very common for people to leave their belongings out on the street for others to take.

A short clip about it.

From Rumpole's link above;

Bombing Suspect's Wife Questioned in the Middle East

I wonder why Omar Mateen's wife was given a free pass to leave? Oh that's right Omar's dad is a long time Democrat friend and attended a Clinton rally.

NYC bombing suspect Ahmad Rahami pleads not guilty in shootout
By John Riley, Anthony M. DeStefano | NewsDay | October 13, 2016, 4:16PM ET

Accused Chelsea bomber Ahmed Khan Rahami pleaded not guilty through his lawyer to attempted murder charges in New Jersey Superior Court on Thursday, making his first appearance before a judge through a video hookup from his hospital room.

Sitting up in his hospital bed, Rahami answered “Yes” to a series of standard questions from Judge Regina Caulfield about whether he understood the charges and his rights, looking briefly at public defender Peter Liguori before each answer.

Rahami, 28, faces five counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and weapons charges stemming from a Sept. 19 shootout with Linden, New Jersey, police that ended with his capture. He has been hospitalized for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds since then.

He is being held on $5.2 million bail. The judge did not set a date for his next court appearance and received no update on his medical condition, but Rahami showed no visible signs of distress during the brief hearing.
[...]
Rahami also faces explosives charges in both Manhattan and New Jersey federal courts for allegedly planting bombs in the Garden State and two bombs in Chelsea, one of which injured 31 when it exploded last month.

No date has been set for his appearances in the two federal cases.

Accused NYC, N.J. bomber Rahimi wants trial moved, documents say
By Tom Haydon | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com | February 27, 2017

ELIZABETH -- A hearing scheduled for Tuesday on attempted murder charges for accused bomber and gunman Ahmad Khan Rahimi has been rescheduled for May.

No reasons were given for the change of dates for the court hearing in Elizabeth.

However, prosecution and defense attorneys are expected to argue over motions filed by Rahimi's attorney when the case comes before Superior Court Judge Regina Caulfield on May 15.
[...]
Rahimi faces a federal court trial on charges of using weapons of mass destruction for the bombs in New York and Seaside Park. His federal trial has been postponed until Oct. 8 after defense lawyers in that case requested more time to prepare.
